Chapter 176: Chapter 176 Fell Asleep on the Sofa_1
Qi Cheng also had them take Su Zi away from here.
After all, this was Chenchen’s intention.
If Su Zi didn’t leave, everything Chenchen did would be meaningless.
The servants put Su Zi’s luggage in the car and opened the door for her. She glanced at the annex, a hint of sadness in her eyes.
She never thought she’d like someone so much, so much that she’d give up everything for him, only to be treated like this.
Love, truly a ridiculous thing.
Especially loving someone with the surname Ji.
She got in the car. Su’s mother looked at her, "I told you before, you shouldn’t have loved him."
"Let’s go!" Su Zi interrupted her mother. She didn’t want to hear another word; it would only make her feel worse.
Qi Cheng watched them leave, then headed toward the annex.
Ji Yunhuan stood in the corridor, a wide and bright window in front of her. She looked at the heavy snow outside and the tracks left by vehicles in the courtyard of the main building.
Because of the heavy snow, Su Zi and the others didn’t catch a flight back but stayed in a hotel.
During dinner, when Qi Cheng told Ji Yunhuan about this, she said nothing.
She couldn’t say a word after witnessing Chenchen’s attitude toward Su Zi.
Qi Cheng reached out and gently touched her head, turning it to look at her face, "You look pale."
Ji Yunhuan looked at Qi Cheng, "I always thought I understood my brother very well. After all, I watched him grow up since he was very young. But today, I realized I didn’t know him at all."
Qi Cheng said, "Chenchen is a smart kid; he’s always had a lot of ideas."
Sadness filled Ji Yunhuan’s voice, "I thought he just liked Su Zi. What kind of feelings can there be between children? But I never expected he would make such a decision because of her."
After Su Zi left, he never woke up again.
Bai Liyan said his condition was dire, worse than imaginable.
Even though he drove Su Zi away, her departure hit him hard.
He clearly couldn’t bear to part with the girl, yet he forced himself to let her go.
Even Ji Yunhuan couldn’t understand why he made such a decision.
Obviously, with Su Zi by his side, he would live better.
Qi Cheng said, "He just wanted Su Zi to live a better life too. He’s a good kid, mature in his thinking."
"But they’re both so young. They don’t need to think about these things at all. Even if they selfishly stayed together for two years, so what?" Ji Yunhuan’s emotions were a bit agitated.
She looked at Qi Cheng, her eyes slowly reddening.
Qi Cheng recalled the words Chenchen had said to him before Su’s father and mother arrived.
Maybe he had a premonition. He could feel that his time was running out, couldn’t he?
Qi Cheng reached out and held Ji Yunhuan’s hand tightly, "I know you’re worried about him. But things are the way they are; let’s respect his decision."
-
Since Su Zi left, Bai Liyan hadn’t left the Qi Family. He even gathered his team. But not only did Chenchen not wake up, his condition worsened.
Ji Yunhuan found herself a bit afraid to see Bai Liyan, fearing to hear bad news from him.
In the morning, Bai Liyan came over from the annex and called out to Ji Yunhuan, who was making coffee, "I want to perform surgery on Chenchen."
Ji Yunhuan paused, her gaze firm, "I don’t agree."
She knew this was a decision made in a desperate situation, not a foolproof one. She didn’t want to agree, nor did she want Chenchen to take any risks.
"You’re being very stubborn."
Ji Yunhuan looked at him, "Didn’t you say he could live to thirty? He’s only sixteen now; he still has many years to live. I don’t want him to take any risks. If the surgery fails, as a doctor, you should understand the consequences better than I do."
"Thirty?" Bai Liyan said, "That was before. Now, I don’t know when he’ll die. This is the only way."
If it weren’t very serious, Bai Liyan wouldn’t say such things.
It must be known that before this, he didn’t advocate for surgery. He preferred Chenchen to keep living.
She paused and looked at Bai Liyan, "How confident are you?"
"Ten percent." Bai Liyan frowned, "I can’t guarantee foolproof results, but I will save him. I’ve saved many people and never failed." He looked at her, "Maybe you should believe in me this time, for Chenchen’s sake. Don’t you want to see him live a normal life someday?"
"As a doctor, you’re out of line." No doctor would boast of their achievements in front of a patient’s family; it would undoubtedly trap them in an inescapable situation.
Bai Liyan said, "I want to see Chenchen healthy more than you do. Only then can he have a future. Why did he let Su Zi go? Because he knew he wasn’t worthy of her. Because he realized he couldn’t live a normal life. He desperately longed for a healthy body."
Ji Yunhuan knew Bai Liyan had always cared deeply about Chenchen. Chenchen was a special case, and as a doctor, Bai Liyan eagerly wanted to see success in him.
But...
"You can’t guarantee he will wake up safely."
"No doctor would dare promise that!" Bai Liyan was serious.
He had already prepared everything.
"I don’t want him to take risks. He’s my only brother. I’m willing for him to live at home every day rather than take any risks." Ji Yunhuan knew she was selfish. Those who hadn’t experienced her life couldn’t understand her thoughts.
"Then think it over seriously." Bai Liyan looked at her obstinate appearance, knowing he couldn’t persuade her at this moment.
She loved Chenchen too much, to the point of obsession.
But Bai Liyan also knew she acted this way because she considered Chenchen her only family.
Qi Cheng had just finished his work. He walked out of the elevator and saw Ji Yunhuan standing in front of the bar with a cup, staring blankly.
He walked over, "What are you thinking about?"
She fell softly into his arms, "Qi Cheng, I’m so tired. I don’t know what to do!"
Qi Cheng embraced her shoulders and looked at the woman in his arms, "What happened?"
Ji Yunhuan said, "Bai Liyan said Chenchen’s condition is terrible. He hopes to perform surgery on Chenchen."
Qi Cheng didn’t give her any suggestions, just held her.
He could feel the weight in Ji Yunhuan’s heart because this meant Chenchen’s future was in her hands. If the surgery succeeded, that would be good. But what if it failed?
She might never forgive herself.
-
At night, after Qi Cheng finished his bath, he found Ji Yunhuan asleep on the sofa. He gently picked her up and carried her to the bed.
