Chapter 98: Chapter Eighty-Three
ERWIN
This room is utterly...ordinary. There is nothing. Nothing at all that will make it any secret computer lab. It’s just a plain guest room. My blood boils in fury but I take a few steady breaths and manage to subside it. Ruth comes and stands behind me, peeking over to the room.
"Wait, is this where we were supposed to find evidence?" Ruth is in dismay and so am I, "There is no shit here that will make it anything likable to search for evidence."
"John, are you sure that you found the right address?" I say, my voice calm yet threateningly dangerous, I am on the verge of snapping and John immediately picks up on it.
"Am sure that this is the address." He says firmly, "If it’s not in this room then we will have to invade the whole house."
"Are you crazy?" I spit, "I am not some kind of button man. How am I supposed to invade the whole house? And let us not talk about the human weight I am carrying around with me." I am talking about Ruth.
"And as if I wanted to come with you." He bickers back.
"Okay, everyone, cool down." Leo tries to soothe the heavy atmosphere, "How much time do we have before the owner of the house comes back, John?" He asks.
"He usually comes back around five. So we have at least thirty minutes in our hands before he comes back and finds out that he has invaders." He announces.
"Good enough." Leo acknowledges and his next words are directed to me, "Listen, Erwin, we have a good thirty minutes in our hands. So, search the room thoroughly, and don’t leave any corner left. I have a feeling we will find something useful here."
I exhale and rub my face exasperatedly, "Hah, fine. Ruth get to work." And we start to search every nook and hook of the plain room and find nothing.
I stand in the middle of the room and scan the area once again but I find nothing here. Suddenly Ruth’s voice comes out of the bathroom.
"Erwin, can you come here for a moment?" He calls and I take a step toward the bathroom.
"What is it?" I push open the door of the bathroom and enter the shower.
"Don’t you feel anything fishy?" Ruth asks as he intently looks around the space. "This bathroom has no ventilator."
And now that he mentions it, this place really doesn’t have any ventilator and it seems a bit too cramped compared to the room. And something dawns on me. I knock at the shower’s wall and it doesn’t sound like as it should. It sounds hollow there like the wall contains nothing but cardboard. A feral smirk crosses my face and my heart pounds with excitement.
"It is..." Ruth trails off, his eyes wide with surprise.
"What’s happening there?" John asks urgently.
"We found what we were looking for." I grin the pause and add, "Probably."
"What do you mean by probably?" John doesn’t sound too pleased, "Make sure what you find and then inform us."
"Shut up." I bark and then press against the wall.
If people go in and out of this place every day then it should have a way to get in.
"What are you searching for, Erwin?" Ruth leans against the shower switch and drawls, yawning.
"Can you shut up for even a minute?" I bark at him.
Ruth’s foot slips and while trying to grab a hold of something he accidentally turns on the shower’s switch. But the shower doesn’t run instead with a soft click sound the wall moves ever so slightly.
So it was the switch...
"Thank you, Ruth." My eyes glint with amusement as I thank him, "You came in use just for once."
"What?" He is dumbfounded.
I push the wall and it slides open soundlessly, revealing a dark interior that is lit by some laptop and computer screen lights. A black silhouette is typing away rapidly on the keyboard, his back facing us. Ruth opens his mouth and I kick his leg indicating to keep that broken radio shut. I slowly approach the individual, keeping my footing light and soundless then I wrap my arm around his mouth, preventing him from screaming. I spin his revolving chair to see his face. James...? My eyes widen in shock.
What is James doing here?
"James?" Ruth gasps, his eyes are as huge as a golf ball.
James’s eyes dart between us at a horrifying speed, his eyes are too as wide as Ruth’s. However, I don’t take any chance and punch him in his guts ferociously, knocking him out. His eyes roll to the back of his head and it falls back to the headrest of the chair. I slide my one hand down to my pocket and fish out a pen drive. I toss it to Ruth.
"John I am plugging the drive now," I inform. Ruth plugs the drive where it fits correctly.
"I understand but what did you mean when the both of you said, ’James’?" John inquiries.
"I just found the culprit behind all this and the culprit is none other than my husband’s cousin who tried to rape him and killed our child," I say calmly, fury and wrath blazing inside my chest.
"Y-You found whom?" Leo stutters, and horror, and fury are battling in his tone for dominance.
"You found your assulter," I say, my eyes narrowing into slits as a dangerous thought crosses my mind and I smirk.
I am going to kill him~
"John, how long do you need to get all the information?" I ask, my brain arranging all my plans.
"I need five more minutes," John informs, "But what are you going to do with, James?" He asks
"I will commit the deed first and then tell you." I drawl.
I stare down at James for the next five minutes as John transfers all the data into the pen drive from where he is sitting. My brain goes over a vivid plan of what I am about to do next.
According to records, James should be in jail now, but he is sitting in a mafioso’s house which is guarded like some kind of state president’s house. This is a deed that can never be done without someone big’s assistance. And the big one is no one other than Jean.
Jean must have freed his son from jail without letting even an insect know about the deed and to keep his precious son safe he is taking assistance from a big mafioso. And that must have cost him a delicious amount of money or something very valuable. This is why when I last time visited him at his office he looked so wasted. Must be because of the frustration and the constant pestering of this mob boss. Now if I think about it, it all makes sense.
As far as I know, Leo warned Jean to not get James out of jail or he would withdraw all of his shares from the company. Which led Jean to get his precious son out of jail illegally. So, according to the record, James is still in jail but in reality, James is out. Even so, the life he is leading is as miserable as leading a life in jail. So let me end his suffering as I am trying to have a good relationship with my in-laws. They will be very happy, right? And even him I kill him now, and everyone knows about it nothing will happen. It’s starting to feel like even God is trying to help me to kill this waste of oxygen.
"We are done here." John announces, "You two can get out now. I will start to analyze the data as soon as you guys get out of there. And listen make it quick the body you left outside the window is starting to stir awake."
"Roger that." Ruth acknowledges, "Let’s go Erwin."
"Wait." Leo suddenly pipes in, "Erwin can you interrogate James about who is the traitor that I am keeping by my side?"
"Fine," I reply simply and shoot at James’s left leg. Ruth flinches. James’s eyes shut open and a muffled scream fills the room. I position my gun at his forehead, "You scream, you die." I seethe.
James’s eyes are blood shot and his leg is bleeding profusely, if he doesn’t do anything soon, he will die from excessive blood loss. He nods haphazardly, trying to convince me that he will do whatever I say.
"Ruth get out of here and wait for me outside," I order.
"Why?" Ruth frowns.
"Because what I am about to do isn’t to your liking," I reply as I turn my head and meet his eyes to show him I am dead serious right now.
He takes a beat before answering, "Okay." He steps out of the bathroom.
I turn my focus to James, "Now tell me do you know who is it that betraying Leo?"
James jerks his head left and right means, "No."
I shove another bullet into his right leg, "Now?" After James overcomes the pain he shakes his head more violently this time. "Leo he doesn’t know."
"Okay then, get out of there." He sounds like a machine but I don’t mind.
"Okay!" I then shoot James’s forehead and get on my feet. His lifeless bleeding body is lying limply on the chair. I leave the shady bathroom.
"What did you do?" Ruth asks as he sees me get out of the bathroom.
"Nothing." I smile, "Let’s go home."
Ruth doesn’t seem convinced by my answer but nods his head anyway.
Ah~ it feels so right now~
