Chapter 93: Chapter Seventy-Eight

LEO

"Our system got hacked and some confidential information got leaked." Kevin has to jog to keep up with me. "The stock price of our company is falling drastically."

"How did it get hacked?" I inquire, my face can be compared to a stone itself. "I believe that we had enough security?" My frown deepens and I can feel an ache blooming at the side of my forehead.

"Leo, I think someone from our technical department betrayed us." Leon scrolls through the information given to him by his secretary as he walks by my side, his face is too contoured with seriousness.

"I want to see every member of the technical team. Now." I enunciate my every word, "Including the team head."

"Yes, president." Kevin acknowledges and scurries off to do the work I just gave him.

I flop down on my revolving chair and open my laptop immediately. "What are our shareholders’ reactions at the event?" I ask Leon sternly who is just sitting in front of me, his expression isn’t quite different from mine as he goes through his tablet.

"There are no responses from them so far." Leon informs, "It’s concerning Leo. Uncle is up to something."

"Did you realize it just now?" I scoff, "I knew the moment I received the call from Kevin."

"But why would he do something like that?" Leon questions, uncertainty evident in his tone and expression, "It will not benefit in the least as much as it will make us suffer. The company’s share is drastically falling in the share market."

"I know." I tap through the keyboard of my laptop as I talk to him, "We can talk about it later we need to handle the task at hand first."

"But how?" Leon raises an eyebrow, "The information is being continuously leaked and our team is unable to stop it. If this goes on then..."

"You think too much brother." I pull out my phone and dial a number, "I just know the right person to call who can solve our problem with a snap of his fingers."

Leon looks intrigued but doesn’t ask any questions.

"John." I rise from my chair and walk to the transparent wall of my office that overlooks the whole city as I tuck my other hand into my pants pocket. "I need help from you. Can you do it?"

"Umm, Leo?" John sounds a little caught off guard at my sudden call and my straightforwardness, "Y-Yes. Please can you elaborate on the situation?"

"Yes of course." I give him a brief encounter on the events laying out here. "Can you do it?"

"Yes." John says, his voice is more serious now than before, "I think I will able to do it. But I need the lab."

"Can you pass the phone to Erwin?" I ask though it is not a question, my voice is professional and bitter.

"Yes, here." John acknowledges.

After a few brief seconds, the phone is passed down to Erwin, "Leo."

"I need John in ten minutes. Can you drop him here?" I ask, my tone is almost robotic.

"Done." He responds in the same manner, "Are you returning home tonight?"

"Probably not," I answer nonchalantly.

"Okay." He cuts the call and I spin around as I slide my phone in my pocket. "Done," I say the word to Leon who is staring at me, surprised.

"You didn’t do anything at all and the way you talked to Warner...you two seemed like a couple later and employees former." Leon

"We don’t have time for romance right now." I slid back into my chair, "He understands that too."

Leon’s frown deepens but he doesn’t say anything. Despite how he looks this guy is a complete romantic. So it’s futile to explain to him just how we, Erwin and I work.

Kevin pushes through the stainless metal door. "President, I brought every member of the technical team here."

Eight people enter the room after, their heads down, cold sweat trickling down their foreheads and their jaws clenched from the tension. They stand lined up in front of my desk.

I rise from my chair and circle my desk. Then hike up on the table and cross my legs. I am playing with a Rubik’s cube. "So, will anyone care to explain what’s going on?" I cock my head and look at them, my gaze is cold and sharp like a knife.

"U-Umm, president, w-we don’t-" An employee gulps and tries to explain with broken words, he is particularly trembling with tension and...fear. Pathetic.

"You don’t know." I finish for him sternly. "Why am I even talking with any of you? I don’t know what had gotten into me that I selected you guys. You guys are nothing but useless. Any other member from other departments hardly visits the company’s technical room, you guys always work there and you guys don’t even know what went wrong? Do you even do your jobs properly?"

Just then Erwin and John push through the door of my office. They didn’t even take eight minutes to get here. Now I am wondering if they have flown here from my place. But I don’t let it show. I quickly jump off my desk and approach them.

"I am sorry for the trouble." I refer to John.

"No, no it’s fine." He shakes his head. "Where is the lab?" He asks.

"Let me show you." Kevin pipes in.

However, I raise my hand and stop him, "Stay with them I will take him with me." I turn to John, "This way, please." I give Erwin a brief nod and start to lead the way for John. Erwin nods back.

I punch a security code into a black stainless heavy metal door and lead John into the technical lad where all the things are operated. He quickly slides into a nearby seat and his hand flies over the keyboards. His fingers are tapping away so first that they are almost blurred out.

I stand behind him, my hand crossed over my chest and my eyes are skimming through the screens. Almost after an hour John stops typing and all the screens turn green before coming back to life again.

"What-" I try to as but he puts his forefinger over his lips, indicating me not to talk.

"Let’s go to your office first," John suggests and I nod, picking up his hints.

We walk into my office and I am almost suffocated from the tension lingering in the air here. My employees are sweating profusely even when it’s snowing outside and some seem like they are going to faint. Everyone turns their attention to us as we enter. I walk up to my desk and slide down on my chair.

"Why are you all standing here?" I raise an eyebrow, "You are polluting my office air. You can go for now and I will let you know whether I will sue you or fire you. Thank you."

"P-President, please..." A female employee tries to plead but stops as soon as I cock my head and look at her. They all silently nod and then leave my office.

"Kevin, how long do you plan to stand there?" I turn my neck in his direction. "Do I have to tell you especially to get out?"

"N-No president." Kevin stutters, "I will take my leave now." He walks out of the room too and I turn my attention back to John.

Erwin and Leon are sitting on the couch silently not making any sound at all. It makes me wonder if they have forgotten to breathe too.

"John you wanted to tell me something," I ask him politely, almost the polar opposite of how I talked to my employees.

"Yes." He nods then fishes out a pen drive and places it on the desk before me, "I am afraid Leo whether you had an infiltrator or a traitor."

"What are you talking about?" I pick up the tiny pen drive from the tabletop. It’s nothing special looking but something about it doesn’t feel right.

"I found it from the lab," John announces and my eyes dart back to him. "It is the thing that was used to hack into the lab’s computer. It was plugged into the main server this is why your employees couldn’t find the source of how the server was hacked."

"So you are trying to say..." I trail off, feeling the numb pain in my temple bloom into a full-blown ache.

He is trying to say whether someone from the lab or our company hacked into the server and leaked all the data or someone sneaked into the lab.

"I removed all the virus from the server and took down the data that was leaked. There is nothing that can be found in the share market. I hope this will do for now." John continues.

"Thank you so much, John." I manage to give him a small smile despite the tension knotting my stomach, "You helped a lot."

"It’s fine." John shrugs, his pale cheeks turning a little pink.

"Can you do another thing for me?" I ask, "Can you please trace the hacker down?"

"Hmm." John presses his lips, contemplating his answer, "It will take time but I think I can track down the hacker. I will need the drive."

"Here." I hand him the pen drive back, "Thank you so much really. You helped a lot."

"It’s alright." He shakes his head, "I am free anyway. I will call you if I know who is behind this."

I nod then get onto my feet. Erwin approaches me and places a soft kiss on my forehead. "Take care. Call me if you need anything else."

I nod and see them leave my office. I flop down on my chair exasperatedly with a low groan.

"What’s next then?" Leon asks.

"We are seeing our beloved scum uncle." A sinister spreads across my face and Leon acknowledges me with a nod.

"Okay."
