Chapter 94: Chapter Seventy-Nine

LEO

"Where is Jean, Father?" I peer down at my father, Louis, my legs are crossed, and my hands rest on my lap.

"You have no right talking about your uncle like that." My father snaps. He is not minding his behavior these days. "Respect him. He is your elder. I didn’t raise you to be like this."

"You didn’t raise me at all," I say pointedly. "I basically grew up on my own, so don’t try to give yourself credit for what you didn’t do. You are just humiliating yourself, Father." My expression doesn’t change.

I am sitting at my family’s house after what seems like a decade. I have been called here to discuss the matter happening in the company. But I am not here to discuss that shit here. I am here to see Jean. I want to know how he bailed Jessie out of the cell. I planned a long time visit for her there. At least until the trial starts.

"You never change, you ungrateful bastard." Jessie spits.

I wonder if she was always this ugly or she is slowly becoming. I never really saw her more than a speck of dirt on my shoe but now that I am wearing a white boot, she is ruining the shine so I guess I need to get her to be taken care of. And soon.

"Could please give me a reason why I should be grateful, big sister?" I flash a poisonous smile. I know I can be more venomous than a cobra.

"You should thank us for what you are today." Jessie hisses. Nope, I was wrong. Jessie beats me to this. And I don’t really have any problem with that.

"Please point out your contribution to me being the heir of the company?" I blink.

"Will you guys please stop this?" Leon waves in dismay. He is sitting beside me on the couch. "We all know how Leo got the where he is standing now. So please let us not brag about it now. We will end up pulling our own legs."

"I didn’t expect you to be taking his side Leon." Louis scowls and I have this urge to spit at it. "I expected better from you. Did he bid you or something?"

I scoff. Leon grimaces, "He is my brother. Why would he bid me? And why do I need a reason to support my younger brother in the first place?"

"Am I seeing the Leon that used to do whatever uncle says?" Jessie snickers and Leon’s expression turns darker.

"Do you know what uncle is trying to do to Leo?" Leon counters, his demeanor is languid and composed, "James tried to rape him and he still supported James. I am not as heartless to support that. And other than that I did everything because I thought my uncle was trying to protect Leo from the harsh world. I didn’t think that he was trying to make Leo more miserable than he already is!"

"Hah." Jessie scoffs as if this is the best joke she has ever heard. "We all know that you hate Leo!"

"And it was because of you." Leon counters, "You made it look like it was all Leo’s fault when he didn’t even do anything. You framed him, Jessie. And you made me do things that I never meant to do. I knew all of it but I didn’t say anything. I thought you had your reasons but seems like I misunderstood. You never meant anything from your actions at all. Not when you framed Leo. When you abused Tine. When you raised your voice at your child. None of them had any reason behind them."

"So are you lecturing me now?" Jessie frowns. "Are you trying to mask your past by highlighting mine? Are you trying to make the world forget what you did by pointing out mine? If so I pity you. At least I don’t deny what I have done."

Leon opens his mouth to counter but I beat him to it. "That’s because you are shameless, Jessie." I smile mildly, the smile is latched with poison. "That’s because you don’t even have a bit of remorse for what you have done. You have turned into a complete wild animal."

"Will you guys stop it?" Louis intervenes, unimpressed, "I don’t give a damn about what’s going between you siblings. All I care about is the company. Leo I called you here for a reason."

"And I came here for a reason too." I return. I am so infuriated by them that I am feeling nauseated at this point. I feel like everything in my stomach is launching and scrunching. "I want to know where is Jean."

"Why are you so obsessed with him?" Jessie looks like she has just seen a work crawling up from its hole, all muddy and dirty. Makes you want to puke. "Do you...ew."

I feel like I am too about to throw up at her words and the way she is implying the words. "Jessie, not all people are like you. And I would rather eat shit than get myself that low. I have a husband who can drive me wild with bliss. So, don’t even think of me as sick as you."

"I didn’t even say anything." Jessie smirks, "So how do you know what I was implying? Huh?"

"Listen, not all people are as dense as you." I mock. "So back to the point." I turn my attention to my father, "Where is Jean? I have some things that need to be asked of Jean."

"I don’t understand why you need to see Jean so urgently." Louis shrugs, "You never even want to see his face usually."

"I have my reason." I answer simply, "So do you know where your brother is now or I will have to do something else to drag him out of wherever he is?"

"Honestly speaking, I too don’t know where Jean is." My father huffs and shakes his head, "I have been trying to reach him but I can’t seem to get a hold of him. You should look for yourself if it is that urgent. So now tell me what’s going on?"

"The server got hacked." I answer blandly, "Data was leaked and some were damaged."

"And you didn’t tell me that." My father raises an eyebrow, "And you didn’t tell me that? You didn’t feel the need to set up a board meeting to discuss that?"

"Father, I don’t really know if you know your position at the company." I get on my feet, " I am the CEO and Leon is the chairman. When we are already handling the matter I don’t see any reason to set up a board meeting and discuss it with everyone. It’s just a waste of time."

He sighs, resigned, "I don’t know what to say anymore." He pauses, looking like something has dawned on him, "Oh there is another I wanted to talk about. Please sit down."

I stare at him before sitting down again, "What is it now?"

"It’s about her divorce." Louis refers to Jessie, "Do you really not have any other way to solve the matter without involving the court and the police? It will only just stain our family’s name further. And she has already been charged with domestic violence and violence. It’s really a bad impact on the family’s name, Leo."

"I know what I am doing, Father," I say calmly, ignoring the violent way my stomach is flipping and trying to make an ugly reappearance. "She has done something she shouldn’t have even after I gave her the warning. I told her that I wouldn’t let her off the hook if she tried something nasty with Tina. But she took my warning very lightly and thought I was just bluffing. And I don’t know if you and mother are blind because you haven’t seen the way Tina flinches from just a slight loud sound and how Rita is so wary of others at that age. I can’t let this go this easily. Jessie needs a good punishment to inflict guilt on her actions."

"Leo is right dad," Leon nods in agreement, "Tina’s mental health is really bad. She needs a proper consolation and so does Rita. Jessie’s actions are getting out of hand. We can’t just overlook it in the name of our family."

Jessie is particularly fussing with anger at this point but she knows that if she steps out of the line now then there will be no one to save her from me. So she is just biting down her tongue and keeping her anger in check.

Louis sighs, "Fine. I am too tired to clean up the mess of my daughter at this point. I won’t say anything anymore. Just be careful that our family name isn’t stained because of this."

"I know better than this father." I get on my and walk out of the huge manor, Leon follows closely behind me.

Louis seemed a bit different today as if something was bothering him more than the company and Jessie. Jules is out on a blind date today and I didn’t see mother around today either. I wonder where she went off to.

As I approach my car my phone suddenly buzzes in my pocket. I fish out my phone and check the caller ID. John.

"Hello, John." I pick up the call.

"I found the hacker."
