Chapter 382: Travel and Travel Beyond Chapter Six: Nocturnal Discussions

Lynch walked over to Zilvra and Soka, looked at the still-frightened villagers, and asked, "What are you two up to?"

"Sister Zilvra told me a way to identify good people." Little Soka quickly ran to Lynch’s side when she saw him. She was already sweating profusely and took this time to catch her breath. "But using this method, I haven’t found many good people, and I’m feeling so tired. Boo-hoo, such a failure..."

Zilvra came over, pointing at the tied-up villagers. "Aren’t these people saying that mages are all evil, and even those around them get tainted with evil? So I wanted to see just how many of them are kind-hearted." The drow woman said nonchalantly, "Surface dwellers often say that good people will be guided to the heavens by angels, to stand beside the so-called Light. Isn’t Soka an angel? Then why has no one been able to stay in the sky, instead they all fall down? Hmph, a bunch of hypocrites."

Lynch shook his head, knowing this was just an excuse Zilvra came up with. She probably wanted a reason to intimidate the residents here. Her real intent was to provide the mage’s mother with a relatively safe living environment, but this method was a bit strange: how could normal humans stand in midair?

"Brother Lynch, is this method correct?" Soka tugged on the mage’s robe, shaking it repeatedly. "I’m really tired, is there an easier way?"

Looking at the little angel, Lynch felt a bit helpless. "This method isn’t wrong, but it only works after they’ve died..."

The villagers on the ground gasped upon hearing the mage’s words. "Lynch, Great Mage, we don’t want to die! Please let us go. You, after all, are staying here..."

"Shut up!" Zilvra snapped. "What’s all the noise about? You lot weren’t very mouthy just a moment ago, and now you’re begging?" She pulled Soka to her side. "Soka, aren’t the bad people supposed to go to Hell? When they fall, the bad ones would drop straight into Hell below, so you wouldn’t need to fly down and catch them. That way you can save half your strength."

"Spare us! We don’t want to die..."

Lynch watched as the scene became more chaotic, with little Soka still earnestly listening to Zilvra’s "instructions," nodding with a trusting expression. If he didn’t intervene soon, the situation could become even more troublesome.

"You two come back with me, stop causing trouble here." The mage gestured to the two girls, "I have other ways to resolve the problems here."

Zilvra locked eyes with the mage, then grasped Soka’s hand and said, "Soka, let’s play until here today, I’ll take you back to find some fruit to eat." Then she led the little angel away.

The mage stood alone, watching as people lay prostrate on the ground, many weeping, unsure whether it was from the mage’s presence or the fear of free falling from the sky. Some villagers cowered on one side, as if Lynch truly carried a plague, not daring to approach.

Lynch pondered, realizing nothing he did now would leave them with a good impression. So he turned and left, heading towards his own tavern.

There was another person watching the situation, Kuboert, the bishop of Pate. He was in a room adjacent to the street, observing everything happening outside through the window. Initially, when Zilvra started tying up the villagers, he wanted to intervene, but Soka’s extended wings halted his step. This major discovery excited him greatly—an angel actually appearing on earth, and apparently not summoned by a spell; this angel seemed able to remain in the Anriel World for a long time! However, on the other hand, the angel consistently stayed beside that mage, which made him feel quite troubled.

He waved his hand to dismiss the knights guarding the room and sat down by the desk. Under the dim candlelight, he began writing an important letter.

"Esteemed Main Priest, the funeral ceremony held in Haisas was forced to be canceled as the mage Lynch did not die, appearing at the most critical moment of the funeral, disrupting the entire ceremony. However, this does not affect the alliance with the Great Lord Council of Haisas. Everything will proceed smoothly. On the other hand, the news provided by the Mage Association regarding the mage’s death requires our attention once again. What exactly is their attitude, or what purposes they have is still unclear. I still insist on the original view that the guidance from Light God Pate would suffice to bring us glorious victory, without needing help from mages who once desecrated the divine. Yet I will still work to contact them, following the decisions of the Main Priests."
