Chapter 380: Travel and Travel Beyond Travel Chapter Five Family Feast_3
"We’re just about to eat, so don’t talk about such disgusting topics." Lynch’s mother slowly walked over from the kitchen carrying a large pot. "This is the inn’s main hall, and it’s quite crowded now, so let’s eat here."
"Thank you, Ailinsha." Morgan sniffed hard at the contents of the pot. "Wow! It’s a hearty stew tonight, what a treat, what a treat."
Wislin delivered a punch to the dwarf’s helmet with a muffled "thud." "Morgan, how did you just address Lynch’s mom? Did you forget again? You should learn from me!"
Morgan hurriedly adjusted his helmet that had been knocked askew and grumbled, "I’m not calling her ’Auntie’; I’m centuries older than she is."
"You!..." Wislin found Morgan’s ear beneath his messy hair and beard, tugging it as he spoke. "You’re Lynch’s friend, so you should naturally be more respectful to his mother. Besides, when did I ever force you to call her ’Auntie’? I said it once more, call her ’Lady,’ Ailinsha Lady."
While dodging, Morgan said, "Got it, got it, I remember." He scurried to the other end of the table and said, "Lady Ailinsha, there, can we eat now?"
Zilvra and Soka pushed the door open and followed the aroma inside. The little angel was sweating profusely, not sure what she had been playing at to be so tired. As Soka entered the room, she dragged a chair to the table, sprawled across it motionlessly, only breathing heavily.
"Zilvra, where have you taken Soka?" Lynch asked while helping his mother set the table, curious.
"Oh, not much, just took her for a couple of flights." Zilvra patted Soka’s wings. "She needs to start training young."
Lynch immediately thought of Ratris City and how the Dark Elf Family trained their children. But Zilvra didn’t carry a whip, and she had explicitly said she abandoned the drow lifestyle, so surely she wouldn’t do the same to her own sister. Besides, little Soka’s flying speed was not slow; if Zilvra wanted to catch her with her Floating Ability, that would be impossible.
Nimo and Felps came running over with bread and fruit, and with just a glance at the fruit plate, Lynch knew that little fingers must have invited some things into their bags again. However, ever since the mage acquired the Eye of Insight, the things that inexplicably ended up in Felps’ bag could always find their way back to their original owners.
Lynch glanced at the chairs in the room, all sized for humans, which would undoubtedly inconvenience Nimo and Felps. He chanted a spell, making the legs of two chairs longer to allow everyone to reach the food comfortably.
The mage’s mother watched all this without blinking, her smile somewhat unnatural. She quickly invited everyone to sit down, used a damp towel to wipe her face to disguise her expression. However, most of the people present were seasoned adventurers; even Lynch, who had his back to his mother, had full peripheral vision, and they all saw the scene.
"Come, come, it’s been a long time since we had so many people gathered at home." Lady Ailinsha said: "You all come from various places, each with your own traditions, so I won’t make you pray together. Lynch, you do it."
"Me?" Lynch was a bit surprised. Ever since he was young, he had never prayed at the dining table. Moreover, after becoming a mage, though not as dismissive of all gods as the Great Arcanists of the past, he never prayed to them. Seeing his mother’s expectant eyes, he had no choice but to say, "Thank you for the food provided, to allow my mother and friends to be well fed and happy."
This awkward prayer nearly made Paladin Wislin burst into laughter; having been immersed in divine teachings at Pate’s for so long, he had heard countless eloquent phrases praising divine blessings. A mage praying like this was nothing short of a joke.
However, Lynch managed to muddle through, and everyone began picking their food to start eating. During the meal, Lynch’s mother looked at the few girls sitting around the table, knowing they came with Lynch, and paid special attention to them. By her judgment, those two human girls suited her fancy the most, being beautiful and appearing quiet. Except, one girl kept serving the big guy dishes, while the other seemed timid, unable to take her eyes off the bowl in front of her.
