Mage And Wolf
Chapter 272

Chapter 272: Chapter 272

With a little help from looking at the various stoves in other units, the mage soon grasps the design elements and has a fine collection of them ready to be moved into units. With Lelou, Hui’Jin, and the rest of the mages from the refugees all working on the building the basic structure barely takes any time at all, the barebones residence is ready to let the new tenants start painting and putting down their choice of flooring over the magically created concrete an hour after they started.

With the skills of even these few cultivators, their stay at the Pack is already looking better than what they were allowed on their homeworld. The only problem at the moment is that the pack is running short on Monster Cores.

They’ve got enough to keep creating food for the next week or so, but with an influx of new arrivals and the stones burnt for energy to create the new building, they’re short on what will be necessary to finish getting everyone comfortable and fully furnished in their new homes.

The Core Formation level cultivators are planning to head out hunting, gathering both fresh types of meat for a feast to mark their first meal in a new world and cores to finish the work on their new homes.

The Inscriptionists among them are stunned at the creation spell circle that’s being used to provide all of their daily necessities, as they had very little with them, having been deprived of their possessions before being locked up.

The combination of a magical spell and an Inscription is a foreign concept to them and they’re eager to study it and see if they can replicate it without being mage-type cultivators.

I honestly don’t know what’s possible, but if they can, it opens a whole new set of possibilities for luxury in cultivation worlds. Mages are pretty rare among cultivators, and I’m told that many worlds have never even heard of them. If those worlds could gain a technique like this that any skilled cultivator could use they’d probably view it as divine scripture.

Lala and Hui’Jin are with both the pups and the newly arrived children, letting everyone get to know each other while staying out of the adult’s way. The only one that seems left out is one wolf kin girl who is simply staring intently at me, well away from where the others have gathered.

"What’s the up little wolf? Don’t you want to make new friends?" I ask her with a big smile.

"I do. But I want to know what you are more." She answers seriously.

"I’m half Lycan. A shapeshifter." I go from human to my limited Lycan form as I say it, letting my ears and tail free.

"Oh, maybe that’s it. You don’t smell quite like a wolf, and you don’t smell like a human at all, maybe it’s because of the Lycan smell." She says, still looking at me the same intense way.

"Your eyes are weird too. Is the other half Celestial? You don’t smell like them though. Maybe Demon?" The child says, startling me.

"You know of the Celestials and Demons?" I blurt out, taking in her scent and Aura carefully. Nothing seems out of the usual, she should be just a Beastkin child in the early Foundation Realm.

She gives me a big grin and a wink before letting slip a hint of divine Aura that causes Elder Song’s head to snap around in our direction.

"Investigator for a Divine Council using a polymorphism pill?" I guess and she claps.

"Very good, and you got it on the first try. We’ve been there for a week after getting a foretelling that there would be a bloodbath on the planet. We couldn’t see who would start it, then your group arrived. So I came to see what you intended. I didn’t think you were there to rescue refugees. It caught me off guard, and this is the form I was already in."

Elder Song comes to see what’s going on and the child turns a big smile his way. "Fancy seeing you here, and a Divine Realm Cultivator again. Tell me, was it you that used Divine Energy to demonize a Lycan?"

"That tone, and the form. You must be Gerald, the third seat of the council." Elder Song replies, avoiding answering the question.

"You’re both too good at this. Yes, it’s me. Now tell me, what sort of experiment led to a Demonized Lycan with the eyes of a Celestial?"

"Funny story that. It wasn’t even my experiment, it was hers. She was trying to repair my damaged cultivation base when she triggered the Divine Tribulation and got caught in the radius of the lightning." The Librarian smiles fondly at the memory.

"And she lived? That’s unheard of, even the ground effect should kill a mortal."

"One with all her Meridians open and the healing of an Alpha Lycan? No, she was in bad shape, but since she didn’t take a direct strike she survived and began slowly changing into what you see here. It didn’t make her any less evil though, unfortunately."

I raise my eyebrow at that, seriously, I’m not that evil. Irritable maybe but not outright evil.

"You call her evil, but she saved the refugees. She can’t be that bad." The investigator says, taking my side. Good boy, or maybe it’s a girl named Gerald?

"Just wait until you know her better. She’s friendly evil. More so than most of the Black Dragon’s chosen. But that’s beside the point. She’s not done changing yet, her cultivation technique is still changing her body." Elder Song explains, getting interested now that he’s talking about research.

"More importantly, how many more investigators are in that world? I was kind of planning on killing off a few cities to turn people against the Divine Transfer Cult." I bring things back on track and Gerald, the investigator shoots Elder Song a ’did she just says that’ type look.

"You get used to her. The plan is to kill off Cultist loyal villages and spread the word that the Cult massacred humans who didn’t submit to being enslaved by them." He explains and Gerald giggles.

"That’s brilliant. Evil, but brilliant." He exclaims in the girlish voice of the form he’s using.

"I thought so, and I’ve got a new spell to teach him."

"To teach him? He was stripped of his divinity for going overboard with forbidden magical experiments, what could you possibly teach him?" Gerald says, confused.

"Are you familiar with atomic structure and the principles of nuclear fission?" Elder Song asks him with a big smile and a frown slowly spreads across the face of the young wolf kin form the investigator is wearing as he begins to comprehend the nature of my plan.
