The Succubus Queen is overjoyed to have the Dragon Avatars all staying at her hotel, the area might not be under the jurisdiction of the Dragon Gods, but the demons view it much like her hotel being the location of choice for visiting foreign dignitaries. Not just any dignitaries, but very important ones to the cities they have agreements with. So she’s doing her best to keep them happy.

She even managed to arrange things so that we had the entire floor to ourselves, with only the hotel staff coming and going. Most of the Avatars settled in to do their afternoon work once they finished discussing the theoretical possibility of combined effort casting the new spell the Red Dragon had obtained. The consensus was that it was theoretically possible but highly improbable for their particular group, as they were lacking in certain skills that would be required to properly combine their powers into a cohesive whole.

Lelou and I were looking forward to a bit of spa time, the Red Dragon having just escaped the enthusiasm of her Avatar, when the hotel staff announced that we both, as well as Karl, have visitors waiting. That’s a bit unexpected, we’ve been gone longer than planned, but normally Arcana is used to that. Especially from me.

The visitors turn out to be each of our assistants, as well as a number of the Junior Priestesses that I had assigned the daily task of doing their own paperwork. The Avatars are a big attraction to the minor clergy, as they’re the representatives of their Gods in whatever world they visit, so the girls took the chance to come along and prove that they’re diligently doing their assigned tasks.

But if they think that the Avatars being here will save them from criticism, they’re in for a painful shock. The Blue Avatar is quite possibly the most strict taskmistress I’ve ever met when it comes to daily chores. Any sign of slacking or incompetence could well land them in Penitent Robes for the foreseeable future. But they don’t know that. Yet.

"Welcome everyone, set up as usual at the table in the common areas. If you have questions, we will be here to answer them. But kindly don’t bother the Avatars, they’re all very busy people, so what downtime they do get is precious." I instruct them, leading the way to the lounge area near my Suite.

The staff were notified of the arrivals and are bringing in additional chairs and tables now, while the Priestesses use the time to organize their paperwork and sneak glances at the Silver and Red Avatars, who are both on couches against the wall, contemplating the new information they’ve received.

"First up, we’ve got these notifications from the outposts. Nothing unusual in them that I saw. Then there’s a personal letter from someone in Lynn Lake, up in Canada. It’s marked eyes only, so I haven’t read it. That’s all for the morning, except a personal celebration. Lala has broken through to Condensation and is officially the strongest Bunny on the planet at the moment. I thought we should celebrate." Hui’Jin informs me.

"Good idea. Where is she now?"

"The bunny was taken to the VIP salon for a massage, trim and herbal spa treatment to begin her day, High Priestess." One of the hotel staff informs me before Hui’Jin has a chance.

"Thank you, that is exactly what she will have needed to start her day. Make sure there are sweet snacks and juice. She prefers juice to most other drinks, except iced coffee, but you know how bunnies and caffeine mix." I tell the uniformed Demon and he grins.

"We have a decaffeinated version available. Spider type and some other demons get drunk on caffeine, so coffee shops run by demons have a decaf version of everything."

I nod my thanks and he bows out to go deliver the message, while Hui’Jin hands me the personal letter. Beside us, Karl and his assistant are busy, the priest handing him clipboards and folders one after another to read and sign. The letter from Lynn Lake is somewhat entertaining, and seems to have been written by a werewolf.

I heard you can help us with our little monster problem. You see, they’re getting pretty thick up here, and we’re into the Category 4 Beasts now. Our mutual friend the Chief got ahold of my Beta on the ham radio this week, saying you’ve got a good supply of magical ammunition. I’m willing to sign a trade agreement if you can find a way up to us. There’s no road, but you’re a Lycan, aren’t Lycans always up for a run?

You can call on the radio or just show up, we’ll be here. It’s not like we’re going far with those monsters wandering around out in the muskeg.

"Hey Karl, want to go monster hunting in Canada? This letter here says they’ve got Moose up to three tons." I grin and Karl rubs his belly in anticipation. His assistant looks a bit despondent though, realizing he will be abandoned again to take care of things on his own.

"What is a Moose?" The Blue Avatar asks, walking into the room.

"One of these." Hui’Jin brings up a picture of one on her phone and shows the Dragon.

"Are they special? Magical beings of some sort?" She looks confused as to why we’re interested.

"Neither. But they taste really good." The Red Avatar says without opening his eyes, startling us all.

"And these food animals pose a problem to a village?" She still sounds skeptical.

"These ones are herd animals, and they are Category 4 monsters, as strong as low Core Formation cultivators, and larger than a merchant’s wagon. The locals can fight them off, for now, but they’re fully capable of tearing down buildings with their antlers." Now she understands, this world isn’t on a high power level, the werewolves will be lucky to have even a few Condensation Realm fighters, a whole herd of angry Category 4 Moose is a natural disaster in the making.

"I’m not missing out on the Moose Steak." Lelou announces happily, head turned towards her work.

"Neither am I." Hui’Jin insists, upset that we keep going on adventures while she’s been stuck in school. In her mind, book learning is overrated, it’s better to enjoy your learning experiences.
