Mage And Wolf -
Chapter 224
Chapter 224: Chapter 224
The portal opening must have been us arriving. But since the King is a member of the Divine Council, maybe he will help out here, after all, it was them, at the suggestion of their Lycan member, who sent Karl and Elder Song here. Speaking of which:
"Librarian! I knew you wouldn’t actually be dead." I hear an advisors voice over the din of battle, and see Elder Song giving him an annoyed look even as both continue to fight. Dozens of Divine Realm Cultivators are here now. The Lycans followed Beta John through, the King brought his Bodyguard plus a few curious advisors, and it seems they’re calling on even more.
High level Nephilim and Lycans are still emerging from the Portal, more than I thought were in the castle, and are spreading out in every direction. Not just to secure the area, they’re going beyond the horizon as well.
With so many Divine Realm Cultivators in the battle, the area is now secure, so I’m going to check on my mate. It seems he’s healed, but the dizziness and pain are from a repressed breakthrough. I grab him and hop into his lap chest to chest, our usual position for a breakthrough, as it lets the energy resonate between us.
"Go ahead and break through, the area is secure." I whisper to him and he opens glowing purple eyes to look at me. That’s new, but the memories he sent me warned that the Elemental was getting stronger and merging with him, so this must be one of the side effects.
I feed him a concoction of pills that will hopefully smooth out his transition, including one of the new ones we designed for letting mortals cultivate Divine energy. That seems to have done the trick, his power is surging steadily upwards, while I can feel the nature of it changing as he leaves the Mortal Realm for the Immortal.
But his cultivation isn’t stopping. It’s transforming to feel more like pure Arcane power, and his Core is being absorbed into the spark of the Nascent Soul that was formed when he entered Immortality. That’s well beyond the stage that I’m at, which is developing my Spirit Ocean so I can begin that process. Maybe he did that while he was mortal to develop his mage abilities?
His body feels like it’s lacking something, probably Divine energy, as he’s got lots of Death Energy stored, so I send him what I can, and I feel the Elemental side of his nature glow with happiness, before becoming one with the Nascent Soul that is forming.
Karl mind links me in gratitude, and I can feel the knowledge that the Divine Relic left behind slip a bit of information into his mind, giving the bond a feeling of clarity, before Karl advances in power yet again, as if grasping at the truth of heaven and earth. I can feel everything in the area start to take on an Arcane Magic feeling and a hint of Karl’s aura as a Domain taking control of the area, before the feeling settles and his advancement stabilizes.
If he had fully formed that Domain, he would be halfway through Immortality already. Fusing a fully formed domain with the Nascent Soul changes your very nature. Shifting the remnants of the Mortal you were towards the Divine being you are becoming. The Nephilim call that the Origin Soul, capable of properly using the Divine Energy of the Divine Planes. When that Origin Soul is strong enough to become corporeal, it will become the Celestial Body that is the beginning of a Divine Realm Cultivators ability to rebirth themselves from a soul alone.
Making that Celestial Body is the final breakthrough that will take you into the earliest stages of the Divine Realm, but the process every cultivator needs to go through to get to that point is unique, based on their body and cultivation style. I can tell already that myself and Karl will have very different journeys.
Mine began with a Shrine Soul dedicated to the Goddess. Karl’s began with a Merger between him and his Elemental. The Arcane Elemental is more a force of nature than a living being, so it didn’t see this as a loss, but a change of state. Like two storm fronts meeting, the two have created something entirely new.
Now that he’s stable, I litter Karl’s face with kisses.
"It’s been a long month. Did you miss me?" I tease hugging him tight.
"A long month you say? Down here in the Mortal and Immortal Planes where we’ve been stuck, it’s been almost a year." Karl growls, squeezing my backside with both hands before deepening our kisses.
I may have forgotten about the time differentials between planes. I shouldn’t have, a day in the Demon World was a month in the Nephilim’s Divine Plane, but somehow it didn’t transfer in my mind to the amount of time Karl was experiencing.
"I’ll make it up to you later, but we should greet our guests first. They’ve been dying to meet you." I whisper in his ear and I can feel his body respond. He’s definitely happy to see me.
Climbing off his lap, I turn to find our audience has grown. Elder Song plus the King’s advisor are both holding note pads, clearly having documented the advancement process. Beta John, Steve and the Nephilim King are all here too, and I can see Amanda running our way.
"Noooo, I missed the good part. Did they kiss? Was there groping?" she begs answers from the nearest person, who happens to be Beta John, with a pleading voice.
"Yes and Yes. But Lycans are very hands on. The best parts will come later, when we’re all gone for the night." John laughs and Amanda sticks out her tongue at him, more interested in the romantic reunion.
"Everyone, I’m pleased to introduce you to Karl, my mate. Karl, this is the Nephilim King, his daughter Princess Amanda, Beta John and the warrior Steve of the Royal Lycan Pack and my apologies for forgetting everyone else’s names."
The look on his and Elder Song’s faces are priceless.
