Mage And Wolf
Chapter 225

Chapter 225: Chapter 225

"What exactly is going on with your world, High Priestess? A Demon Lycan hybrid was strange enough, but to think you were hiding the long Lost Dark Librarian and a Half Elemental, which shouldn’t even be possible." The Nephilim King comments with a curious look, like he wants to lock us in a display case for study.

"Technically, I haven’t ever been to her world, she came to visit mine." Elder Song points out.

"And I’m not half Elemental, I contracted with one and we began to merge when High Priestess Katrina blended her energy with mine during cultivation." Karl adds.

"Blending energy during cultivation? What sort of technique is that?" Amanda asks, prompting Steve to whisper something to her that makes her blush from ear to ear.

The older cultivators in the area all chuckle at her response, knowing what we were doing. More cultivators are still arriving, from multiple species, all disappearing in groups the moment they arrive. It looks like my arrival here set off some sort of war.

Steve has been in an almost constant mind link since the Lycans arrived, so some or all of the warriors that arrived after us must be from the Royal pack. One of the freshly arrived Lycans yips in excitement as soon as she shifts and Steve looks extra excited.

"Potential mate?" I ask him and he shakes his head.

"They’ve got an anti transfer artifact active and they’ve got the planets leaders on the run." He grins.

"How’s your running speed?" Beta John asks, looking at Karl.

"Not nearly for enough to keep up with you lot." Karl shrugs and I frown.

"That’s alright, they’re coming this way. Whoever catches them gets the honors for the day. Give it your best." Steve reassures him, before all the Divine Realm cultivators turn in the same direction. That must be where they’re coming from.

I smirk at Karl before activating Shadow Meld and chasing after Beta John who has already rushed off towards what I presume are the planets leaders. What could be better for a reunion with my mate than a trophy and a place of honor at tonight’s party. I’m definitely catching one of these cultivators.

[Song is impressed with your speed. He’s dragging me along and we can’t even keep up with you] Karl mind links and I send him back a flash of amusement.

[I’m trying to get you a trophy, and the competition is tough] I send back before my newfound sense for energy detects a shift in the flow of the planet’s energy nearby. Someone is using a blink type technique to move away from the majority of the Divine Realm pursuers. If I’m wrong, I’ll apologize to whoever I stab, but this is likely the only chance I’ll get.

I extend energy claws coated in Death Energy using a paralysis technique from one of the combat forms Elder Po taught me and leap claws first to the point I sense the target will reappear. The cultivator shows up a finger width from my claws and begins to dodge with incredible agility, but I’m too close, the claws rake his face, knocking him to the ground, but before I can follow up, Beta John had pinned him down with a sword through the chest.

"You kill stealing scoundrel." I pout and John laughs.

"Excellent senses, we were the only two to detect the exit point. Better luck with the next one." John congratulates and teases me at the same time. He’s got a point though, there’s another one in the area, I think the Lycans are herding them towards their desired hunting zone.

This one is so concerned with the Divine Realm cultivators chasing him he almost doesn’t notice me until my claws come close to his back. He blinks out, but there’s a quarter second before he reappears every time, and I am on the chase. I’m doing my best to keep him between me and the group chasing him, trying to force him into range to attack, but he keeps knocking me away with a burst of energy before fleeing.

This goes on a half dozen times before he gives up on running and draws a sword. I choose a two bladed style to maximize my speed and make up for my lack of power, covering them in my own energy plus Death Energy.

He takes note of the unusual style and smiles. "They say you can’t run from Death, and that might be correct, but you’ll see that Death is no obstacle to me High Priestess."

I circle him at high speed, parrying his attacks and trying to land a strike of my own. This is his last stand, the other group has caught up and surrounded us, forming an arena for our fight.

"I just need your head as a present for my mate. Be a good boy and hands it over without a fuss." I taunt him as my left blade, a shining steel short sword in the ancient Greek Xiphos style, nicks his neck and cuts the collar of his Robes.

He’s visibly tired from the chase, having crossed half a continent to get to this point, and his sword is slowing. But I’m not falling for a simple trick, I keep up the pressure, landing a few more glancing blows off his raised defensive barrier, and taking a few myself, quickly healed, before his barrier falters and lets a cut dig deep into his leg, unbalancing him and turning the fight from evenly matched to desperate for him.

Unlike a Lycan, he needs time to heal, or pills, and he isn’t going to get time to take any healing or energy pills during this fight. His leg is bleeding so heavily that I’ve certainly damaged the artery. The blood is pooling at his feet and the crowd is jeering that he’s lost to an Immortal Realm cultivator. I can see he intends to self destruct, taking as many of us with him as he can, so I drive one last attack with both swords into his chest, taking his blade deep into my side even as the energy in his body begins to dissipate.

Thankfully, I made it in time.

"Clean Kill for the Young Miss. Glory to the Death God." I hear Elder Song yell, inviting a round of raucous cheering while I examine my side. It’s mostly closed already, so I change to my High Priestess Robes, getting out of my ruined outfit and sit down on the ground at the edge of the circle of spectators to catch my breath, well away from the pool of blood.
