Mage And Wolf -
Chapter 220
Chapter 220: Chapter 220
No fewer than six members of the Divine Council are waiting for us to return. We’ve returned directly to the Throne Room and they’re all waiting in chairs around the edge of the room, awakening from their cultivation to acknowledge our entry.
"Did you get it? I hope so, it was such a hassle convincing Nancy not to charge you with war crimes for blowing up that Sect. The Sect Master was her favorite nephew’s grandchild." The Green Dragon in the group comments.
"Apologies for the inconvenience. It’s right here. I hope the rest of the team made it home safely?" I ask, setting the relic on a small table next to where we entered. Even out of my possession, I can still feel the knowledge it imparted.
"They did. Might I ask what caused your extreme actions? A good excuse might bring us some peace and quiet in the council chambers." The Dragon asks.
"Blasphemy against the Dragon Gods. The Goddess demanded they were punished." I say with authority. It’s the perfect excuse, blasphemy covers a wide variety of things, and nobody really second guesses the Dragon Gods. Of course, lying about their will can have serious consequences, but I can sense the Death God’s amusement at my interpretation.
The Green Dragon pulls me aside to ask in private, casting a barrier around us and I pull out the picture of the two Priestesses I removed from the pervy scout, my finger strategically covering the vital bits. It’s clear the photo was taken from a hidden angle and the Priestesses weren’t aware they were being observed.
"See, blasphemy." I smile and he grins at me.
"Well, it’s giving me heretical thoughts. I applaud their bravery though, getting caught would have led to a much slower death than whatever it was you did to them. What did you do by the way?"
"That’s a secret of the Black Dragon’s clergy I’m afraid. But rest assured, I made sure there were only immortals in the area before using it, no mortals were harmed by my act of Retribution."
"Good enough for me. I’ll just inform Nancy that he was punished for being a pervert." The Green Dragon nods and lowers the barrier.
"You might not want to return to that particular world for a while. The Sect Master recovered and had wanted posters with your face plastered all over the planet calling you a murderer and a thief." One of the other councilors mentions, still staring at the relic on the table.
"Thanks for the heads up. I kind of thought he might be upset, but I likely won’t have to see him again, so it was worth the price to complete the council’s mission."
"Did you try using the relic yourself?" Another asks and I shake my head. I didn’t have to try, it just activated.
"No need, the Goddess will grant me all I need to know over the course of my travels." I inform him and he grins.
"You really are devoted. But we should get you back to your world and mate soon. Before they send another search party for you." The Councilor laughs. He’s got a point, I have no idea how long I’ve been gone relative to their timeline. I’ve got so many cool things to show Karl.
Just leaving simply isn’t possible though. Amanda is here, and I should make sure Ahra is going to be fine as well. If Beta John and the Lycans are handy I should say goodbye to them too. The Royal Castle is well prepared though, they’ve already anticipated my requirements and started making preparations.
Lunch with Amanda is in an hour after I’ve changed, then a meeting with the mission group, before a formal farewell in the portal room. Much different circumstances than my arrival for sure.
"You made it back?" Amanda asks as I enter, not entirely convinced its really me until I jump in her arms.
"It’s good to be here. You have no idea how bad some of those Planes smell. I don’t know how I’m ever going to get used to a mortal world again." I laugh as she sets me down in a raised chair while the servants bring tea. Oh how I will miss the tea from this place, I’ll have to obtain some before I go.
"I heard you had a mortal human mate? And an exiled criminal for a teacher? You’ve been hiding all the really good stories from me haven’t you?" Amanda pouts, knowing we don’t have time to tell them all.
"Yes, he is a mortal, but so was I when we mated. I will be sure to help his cultivation catch up into the Immortal Realm as quickly as I can once I return." I smile at her.
"Tell me how you met? I love a good romance story." She sighs, lost in thoughts of fairytale happy endings.
Keeping that in mind I tell her the abridged version of my story with Karl. Leaving out most of the violence, and glossing over all the time I spent apart from him in another world. That part is still important because she wants to know about Elder Song, but she doesn’t need to know it was over a year, that really messes up the vibe of the happy couple romance I’m telling.
"Your Highness, it’s time to move along to the next meeting. The Lycans and Dragons from the mission team are waiting." a servant informs is just as I’m getting to her father pulling me into this Plane.
"We’ve covered the important parts, plus the story is ongoing, so I’ll have to finish telling you later." I smile at the Princess before the staff escorts us out to meet the others.
"You had better. I made you a transmission token so you can come back to visit. It’s just a single use one, because I’m not good at them, but the Royal Inscriptionist assures me it will work." She says, handing me a wooden token before going to her father’s side. I’ll wager she has absolutely no idea just how valuable of a gift this would be in the lower Planes. Even in the Immortal worlds, access to the Divine Planes is immensely difficult to obtain. But she gave it out as a castle entry pass so her new friend can visit.
