Mage And Wolf
Chapter 221

Chapter 221: Chapter 221

The visit with the Dragons is short and businesslike, they’re more interested in knowing about what the Relic was like once it was complete, as they were both certain that I would escape unscathed. The Green Dragon from the Divine Council had taken a particular interest in them, happily chatting as if they were old friends. I guess seeing that photo moved then from ’Priestess’ to ’pretty woman’ in his mind, and he’s determined to get on their good side.

The Lycans as usual are a jolly bunch, joking about the games we will play next time I come around and how they are looking forward to meeting the plethora of royal children that will be coming to the Nephilim Royal Family soon.

All the talk of granddaughters and Lycan games is clearly not good for the King’s nerves, but Paula thinks it’s sweet. Plus, she has realized they’re mostly joking.

With all the meetings done, Beta John announced he will be the one sending me home through the Palace portal. He’s got a particular skill for locating Mates, so he believes he can send me directly to where Karl is now, and not just back to the point I was taken from.

As soon as we reach the portal room John immediately begins focusing energy, pinpointing Karl most likely. The entire process takes a little over a minute before he stops what he’s doing and the portal opens.

"Your mate should be within ten meters of the portal. Go on now, you lead, I’ll follow. No way am I missing out on meeting him." John laughs.

I step through, and I’m greeted with a scene of absolute Carnage. Bodies are everywhere, Karl is slumped over against a wall with multiple injuries as a healing pill takes effect, Elder Song is maintaining some sort of barrier and I do believe that is Lelou in her massive Red Dragon form raining fire down on the area.

What in all the worlds is going on here?

Karl is nodding in and out of consciousness, but the sudden appearance of his mate, and the happy, hopeful feeling that comes with Kat’s presence nearby allows him to focus enough to send her an overview of what has been happening. The sudden stream of memories fills her mind and she finds herself looking at an unfamiliar world that feels like the Immortal Plane she’s just entered.

"We should have known that the council was going to ask us to do something annoying in exchange for sending someone to find the Young Miss." Elder Song sighs, looking over a village full of strangely dressed cultivators.

"Ain’t that the truth, we’ve been at this for nine months and the zealots are only getting crazier. But who would have thought they they’d actually manage to shift an entire Moral World into an Immortal Plane? If we weren’t tasked with stopping them from doing even more damage to the cosmic balance I’d be honestly impressed." Karl laughs back, brushing the dirt off his traveling clothes.

Both of them have adopted the strange garb of the local cult, or Faithful Followers of the Divine Transfer as they call themselves, a group dedicated to moving entire mortal worlds into the Divine Plane. Now that they’ve succeeded in actually moving what Karl and Song believe to be their home world, the Divine Councils have begun taking them seriously, so the pair were charged with keeping their activities in check, in exchange for the council looking out for Katrina while she was under their purview.

It’s been a nightmare, the spell they’re casting has ten thousand different parts, all including odd behavior all over the planet, and trying to blend in to get more information has proven nearly impossible. Attacking them only brings angry Immortal and Divine Realm Cultivators to their location, and they’ve ended up in a hundred or more fights in the last nine months.

All this time in an Immortal Plane has been great for Karl’s cultivating though and he’s close to breaking through to Immortality himself. So what’s left is one last effort to balance his growth and fully integrate with the Elemental spirit he contracted as a youth. The Arcane Elemental had become truly mighty during their time here, and has entwined itself into every aspect of Karl’s cultivation and body.

The practice is common for Mages on Earth, they need the help to be able to cast spells. But cultivating, and traveling to different Planes has turned the weak Elemental spark into a full fledged magical being, one that Elder Song has assured him holds unfathomable power when in a suitable Plane that matches its nature. The binding they performed back on Earth when he was a young mage was intended to make the Elemental powers his own, but now, it’s making him and the Elemental one being.

The Arcane Elemental’s power has affected his core, merging the two into one base. Even his mana flow is becoming more Elemental with every advancement after Core Formation.

"What do you think these ones will be up to? the ones that insisted on licking wooden spoons to ’align their Chakra’ were certainly interesting." Song laughs, extending his senses to take in the villagers activities.

"Hosting a three legged run in stilettos is my guess for the day." Karl shrugs. It’s not impossible, they’ve seen them doing stranger things. But a whole village doing them affects the energy flow in the area and helps complete the spell, essentially a huge transfer sigil covering the entire planet.

"I don’t see anything strange going on. This might be one of their leadership centers. We’ve taken out a lot of them, but I don’t want to get into a big fight if you’re so close to the breakthrough into Immortality, it’s a sensitive time." Song informs Karl.

"I’m not sure we get a choice in the matter." Karl says looking at a portal that’s beginning to open near them. The residents of this world are exceedingly skilled with transportation abilities, and watching, then interrogating them, has proven highly beneficial to Karl’s spell repertoire. With the help of the Arcane Elemental, opening portals within the world he’s on has become a simple task if he knows where he’s going. Their senses are merging, and Karl can feel the flow of Mana all over the planet.

It’s not a cultist that comes through the shimmering circle though. It’s a very scorched and bedraggled looking Red Dragon.

"Lelou? What are you doing here? I thought you were working in Arcana." Karl asks in shock.

"I was out scouting for orphans to join the academy in Arcana when I started getting attacked. Faithful Followers of the Divine Transfer they called themselves. They insisted that I need to die for their plan to succeed. They’re crazy, you have no idea." Lelou explains.

"I might have a little bit of an idea. Welcome to their homeworld, we’ve been here nine months decimating their leadership and trying to stop them from moving their world into a Divine Plane, at the request of a Divine Council that helped us out in relation to High Priestess Katrina." Karl says with a grim chuckle.

"Is that right? You’ll have to tell me all about what your little mate is up to, but first, I’ve unfortunately brought visitors to you." Lelou sighs as dozens more portals open around them.
