Mage And Wolf
Chapter 211

Chapter 211: Chapter 211

I dart silently up a tree behind the first sentry and cripple him with a touch to the leg, before binding his hands behind his back and tying him to the tree so he doesn’t fall before he can move.

I circle wide through the trees, getting behind my second target. He’s so focused on the Priestesses that he didn’t even scan the area the entire time between me disabling the first sentry and me disabling him. He’s kind of creepy, so I take a moment to block energy flows through his arms after tying him up. They’ll be numb for a few days, but he’ll recover. Call it a preventative measure.

The third can’t even be counted a a sentry. Everyone has noticed him in his hiding spot. He’s got something in his hands though, a paper of some sort. It’s that a photograph? Where did he get a camera from anyhow?

I decide to search his belongings for the camera when I notice the content of the photo. It’s a nude of the Priestesses in the bath this morning. We’ll, that makes it easy, I’ll just take the camera off his corpse. Nobody will miss one little sentry, right?

He snaps out of his reverie just as the energy surges through my hand and I remove his head from his neck. I remove the storage ring from his finger and stuff the body inside, silently berating myself for not just breaking his neck. I made a mess.

I search the ring and find what I’m looking for, A fancy digital camera with built in printer. Looking it over carefully to see if there’s anything odd about it I notice a label on the bottom. Made In Korea. Well I’ll be, it’s from my Earth.

That means there’s likely to be an active portal near here somewhere, nothing on Earth is a danger to these cultivators, there’s no reason to close it from this end. Though he might have been traveling when he found the portal.

[Found technology that belongs to my world on a sentry. Be careful, they might have weapons from my world that can cause serious injuries even to you.] I link John with significant effort. Not being in the same pack makes it an exercise in mental energy transmission and I’m not very good at it.

As I’m returning I can hear the voices of a search party looking for us. "They must be close now. Boss says eliminate the dead weight and bring him the child."

Child? I’m not that small. It’s just that the Lycans are huge. Sneaking through the trees I can see that they’re all equipped with rifles, likely using enchanted ammunition too. If that’s how it is, two can play at that game. Where’d I put that Browning?

A call comes in though their communication token, they’ve surrounded the others. I ready the machine gun and chase them through the woods. These rounds should be good against even immortals, but if they’ve got Divine Realm cultivators there I’ll need a new plan.

All I see are immortals, no mortals or Divine Realm Cultivators and they outnumber our group by three to one odds. Enough that someone might get hurt if they fought without a plan. The Priestesses aren’t combat maniacs after all.

"Where is the child? Give her to us and we will let you leave. The boss says she’s unique, as I’m sure you already knew, but don’t make this hard in yourselves. These things can kill even Divine cultivators up close." The head thug brags.

I silently set up my bipod and get settled in, still under the effects of Shadow Meld. These idiots don’t even seem to know how to search, much less have any intention of doing it properly. They’re all looking at my companions who are lying flat in the ground, hands tied behind their backs.

It’s time. I squeeze the triggers and let the Browning sing them the song of my people.

The panic begins as soon as the bullets start tearing through flesh. They seem to think it’s friendly fire and they’re screaming for the shooter to stop. In seconds they are mostly dead or seriously injured, so I launch myself into battle, Crushing cores where I can, hearts in the more advanced who have already integrated their core into their Nascent Soul. The end result is similar, huge gaping holes in their torso.

"Well, that’s the must disturbing thing I’ve seen all day." Beta John says, easily breaking the bonds tying him.

"I hate it when they laugh in combat. It gives me shivers up my spine." Jasmine agrees, looking at me with an embarrassed grimace.

"I can sense a Dragon relic from here though. Kendra, can you feel it too?" so the silent one is Kendra. She simply nods the affirmative while the Lycans loot the battlefield, stuffing all the bodies in a storage ring.

"I feel the distinct urge to kill someone. When we get near that Sect, wait a moment and I’m going to try something new." I inform them and Beta John breaks into a genuine laugh.

"I’m sorry, but the way you said that, like you’re only planning on stopping for a snack, just gets to me. Carry on Little Lycan."

The Sect Compound is only a few kilometers away. I don’t see anyone but uniformed members, and nobody in the Mortal Realm, so even the Immortal Council can’t fault for me for what I’m about to do. Immortal on Immortal violence is explicitly allowed under their laws. Especially in cases of honor and insult.

"Alright, I’ve seen this done a couple times by an Arcane Mage but I’m pretty sure I can do it." I tell them and the Priestesses get out their notebooks. Maybe it’s not wise to let them document this, but I’m pretty sure the Nature God will never condone using it themselves.

There’s a spire on top of the central building that seems to be made of gold. That should do. Karl said heavy elements are best. Now, focus on the metal, visualize the gold atoms, every one of them I can, and now, split the bonds holding them together. Perfection!
