Mage And Wolf -
Chapter 194
Chapter 194: Chapter 194
"If we’re going into the city, you can’t go looking like that." Doosan tells me the next morning when I turn up in my Priestess Robes. I slept the night in the room attached to the lab, along with Ahra in her shiny new Gold livery, but I’ve been informed by the palace staff that I will be attending an event tonight that requires evening wear.
"Well, they took most of my clothes, and I’m not wearing rags. It’s this or the one other formal outfit I have left." I inform him, not mentioning I’ve actually got an entire wardrobe in my storage piercings they missed.
"Let’s see the other one and I’ll pick. Or I’ll go find you some clothes, we’ve got plenty of tailors around the castle."
I switch to my Royal Robes and he bursts into laughter. "Oh no, one hundred percent no. Not happening. Half the city would wet themselves if they knew they’d seen Dragon Priestess Royalty in the city. The last time most of them saw that outfit their home towns were burned to the ground with Dragon Fire during the war."
Just as he finishes saying that, Amanda and the King enter the room without knocking. Stopping at the sight of me in my formal outfit.
"Amy! Papa! It’s good to see you both again. I hope you weren’t injured during the attack yesterday?" I hop into Amanda’s arms again and she begins to giggle.
"See, I told you she wasn’t mad. She’s just weird." The princess informs her father.
"You need to learn caution, daughter. From that position she can kill you before either of us have time to respond." The King tells her with a solemn voice and she gives me a hurt look before setting me down.
"I mean, he’s not wrong, but I wasn’t planning on it. What brings you to the research ward today?"
"I heard from the servants that there was going to be a shopping trip for the event tonight. I love shopping trips, so I convinced the King to let me go along." Amanda says with a grin and the King smirks.
Oh, I get it, she was driving him insane with her bubbly nature, so he’s sending her and a guard escort with me to get her out of his hair for the day.
"Have you determined what level of cultivation Puppy is at now?" The King asks and I point at my newly modified collar, trying to avoid glaring at the Royal who is multiple Realms of cultivation above me.
"Young Miss?" Amanda reads my name tag and smiles. "I like that much better than Puppy."
"Not yet, your majesty." Doosan bows, wincing at my informality. "But we have determined her species is no longer mortal if it ever was. The results show she is Half Demon and Half Lycan, so she is innately Immortal, and therefore a person under the law. I don’t think there’s a name for her species though, none of the history books have a record of such a combination without any human lineage left."
So that’s the standard is it? Either cultivate to Immortality or be born Immortal to even be considered a person in this realm.
"We just call part Lycans, Lycans at home. Unless we’re insulting them that is." I suggest, but the King shakes his head.
"Titles are very important in the Divine Realms. Everything needs a name and a spot in the hierarchy or order starts to break down."
"What else do we know of that’s half divine creation and half Immortal Being? Surely this problem has come up before. And it would give us guidance." Amanda asks.
"Some of the Demigods would qualify. A lot of the human gods have a thing for Demihumans, or really anything they can successfully procreate with." Ahra shrugs and I laugh. She’s got a point, human mythology back in Earth is also full of species and creatures created through cross breeding by their deities.
"So we could work with that for now, until a formal decision can be made." I start, but Doosan already has a book open to the section on the Titan Clan. They have a huge list of options, and it only takes him a few minutes to narrow it down.
"How long do Lycans from your planet’s lineage live?" he asks with his finger on the reference.
"A thousand years or more? The surviving originals created by the Moon Goddess are getting close to two thousand already, and looking very elderly." He scrolls his fingers down the list.
"Can they use cultivation energy without cultivating?"
"Not exactly, but possibly close enough to qualify. They internalize a specific form of energy to increase their own abilities based on their rank in the pack and have incredible healing rates." I explain.
"Can we test yours to put it in reference?" Doosan asks hopefully and I sigh.
"Give me a knife and I’ll show you." The King draws his dagger and I point to my leg, raising my robe. "You can do the honors, so we have independent verification."
He digs the knife bone deep through my leg from ankle to knee with an inquisitive look and I grimace at the pain, then pick up a cloth to wipe the leg clean, the wound having already healed.
"That’s just unfair. Even if you are injured in the arena, how would anyone know?" Ahra says, shaking her head in wonder at the healing rate.
"No wonder the Moon Goddess creations rank so high on the Mortal species list. How hard would it be to kill something that heals like that?" The King says, impressed.
"Okay, we’ve got a tentative rank." Doosan says, pointing at the book. The picture he is indexing is of a six armed Titan, it looks extremely impressive, being twice as tall as the other giants in the drawing.
"If you’ll let me see your necklace, I’ll edit it so the other Nephilim can tell at a glance." Doosan says and I hand him my collar.
"Could you do that before? I heard you freed yourself before the fights." The King asks.
"I couldn’t get them off, but I could free them from where they were locked together without much effort." I shrug and Doosan pauses, going back to the book and double checking. They take this ranking really seriously, and I don’t even know what the system is.
"There you go, all ready." Doosan hands me back the collar, now with a black, gold and purple braided pattern on the edges that closely matches my Royal Robes, only missing the red and white layers.
"Color coordinated, very nice. Is there a guide book or something? I don’t know what they mean." I ask, fixing it back around my neck.
"It’s a species power level guide. Gold is ten thousand, Black is five thousand, Purple is twenty five hundred. Anything over ten thousand is born Immortal, anything over fifty thousand is born divine. You don’t have to wear a collar anymore by the way, a ring or bracelet will suffice to let others who don’t recognize your species know."
"How do Nephilim score?" I ask, wondering just how powerful they are in comparison. After all, both Lycans and Dragons share an innate advantage over humans when it comes to actual power at any given mortal cultivation level.
"Twenty Five thousand points. Exactly halfway between dirt and divinity." Amanda giggles in a singing rhythm and her father smiles. It must be part of a children’s song to learn the ranks.
