Mage And Wolf -
Chapter 193
Chapter 193: Chapter 193
The moment I step out, Ahra his the floor, kneeling in the prayer position and Doosan gulps audibly.
"No need to kneel, it’s just me." I say, poking Ahra on her bottom and tipping her over.
"Can you put your hood down? The effect is a bit unnerving." Doosan manages to say and I realize my mistake. With the hood up they can’t see my face, only shadows. Plus the extra cool Priestess voice.
"Better? I’m ready for that blood sample whenever you are." I tell the man who still has his hands full of equipment.
"Yes, of course. Though seeing the changes after your shower, I think we already have some of the answers. I’m almost certain you’re no longer Lycan as in the Mortal species. Instead, I do believe you’ve become something closer a Moon Wolf, like Immortal Realm werewolf cultivators do when they gain favor of their Goddess. The black eyes are different though, and your hair is still that Unique red blonde color, not silver, so probably not exactly that species."
He gets to work, drawing three vials from the back of my hand before returning to the counter on the far side of the room and pulling out a collection of machinery and opening a laptop computer. Oh how I’ve missed those while in a cultivation world.
"When he said they’d grabbed a Priestess by accident, I thought he was joking. But a High Priestess of the Death God? If anyone found out you were here unwillingly they’d come together to crush this kingdom. Everyone is afraid of the Black Dragons Wrath." Ahra whispers.
"The way I see it, I made out pretty well. A big advancement, plenty of extra energy, and whatever that mist did to my body." I shrug, only really mad that they keep calling me Puppy.
That’s an idea, I should see if I can fix that collar. I grab either side and pour a bit of energy into it, causing it to open easily. If it wasn’t a pet collar, it would actually be a very pretty piece of silver jewelry. I think I’ll keep it. But first it needs editing.
A few seconds of effort wiped the name clean, and a few more writes "Young Miss" in an elegant script before I put the collar back on. The wrist and ankle cuffs clash with my outfit though, so I remove them and put them in my storage rings for later examination.
Ahra doesn’t seem to know what to say to that, simply pointing at my collar, then holding up a mirror. That’s neat, the writing filled in with black when I put it back on. The contrast looks amazing. Good job me.
Her crappy leather setup just looks worse in comparison though. I haven’t seen any mortals without one here, so I might get her in trouble if I simply took it off.
"Hey Doosan, can we do something about her collar and cuffs? That’s just tacky." I ask when he finishes his tests and turns around.
"How did you even do that?" He asks, looking at my collar. "Never mind, I know how. Yes, we can change hers, but all mortals are property here, so we would need to replace it. There’s a better leather set, a rough iron set, a leather and lace set for maids, and a gold set for personal assistants."
He didn’t list silver, that must be exclusively for pets. "How about Gold? She did a pretty good job as your personal assistant today."
He digs through a drawer and hands me a set of five gold rings, before returning to his notes. They must keep them handy for on the spot promotions.
"Here is what we can determine through blood work. The genetic markers find Lycan, Demon and Dragon indicators, but with no sign of human, as even a full blooded Lycan should have. They need it to return to a human form. The Dragon indicators are normal for a Dragon Priestess of any race, so we can ignore that. What I can conclude is that the mix of Divine and Death Energy mutated your human genes to a form of Immortality compatible with this world and your cultivation technique. Life energy makes Seraphim, Death makes Demons. Mixing the two makes Nephilim."
I nod along as he explains, hoping that they’re not going to start some righteous purge of me. This whole world is a mess, and I never have any idea what to expect.
"So are they going to consider me some sort of evil being now? Because that would be inconvenient."
"The Seraphim might treat you like dirt, but Nephilim won’t. Not all demons are evil, it’s just a catch all term for species that come from Hell Worlds or are changed by Cultivating Death Energy. Black Dragons are considered a Form of Demon Dragon by most species."
"Best news I’ve heard all day. Do you think I’ll be able to change my eyes back to normal? Because this is going to creep out the children."
"That I can’t determine. But with time your skin tone should return to a more normal shade and your eyes might as well. It’s just the effect of the excess energy, the closer you get to breakthrough the more you’ll look like this. Give me two months to study and I’ll have every answer you need."
"My companions will likely get anxious if I wait that long, but I’ll try to send a message when I can, so they don’t send an army of Dragons to come get me or something equally overboard." I tease Researcher Doosan who didn’t take it as a joke.
"Please don’t. Dragons and Nephilim are already on bad terms due to a war a few millenia ago. Calling for rescue might start a Realm wide Civil War."
I grin in anticipation at that, watching Dragons fight Nephilim and Titans would be pretty cool to see. If only I had my phone to record it. If things get messy I’m totally coming back to this room and taking one of Doosan’s cameras.
"Forget I said that, I forgot who I was talking to. The thought of a million dead isn’t exactly a deterrent to the Black Priestesses."
I grin at Ahra and she bursts into laughter. "She’s Teasing you Master Doosan. I don’t think she’s intending to start trouble. After all, Lycans have mates, if she wanted to, she could have called for hers yesterday when they brought her here and we’d already have Wolves and Dragons on our doorstep."
Now, my mate isn’t in this realm, or a Lycan, but her logic is sound. Even telling Elder Song I was in trouble would likely have brought some sort of rescue attempt. With that in mind, I focus on my True Transmission Token and find that it will be perfectly capable of returning me home to the Shadowed Blade Sect with my current abilities.
Since I know I can go home, there’s nothing to worry about. Time to get more answers, and maybe see the city.
