Mage And Wolf -
Chapter 192
Chapter 192: Chapter 192
Absorbing the black energy liquid is getting easier as the minutes go on. The shaking of the tower has subsided, so the fighting must have moved along a little, giving us some reprive.
Ahra is no longer writing notes, instead simply gaping open mouthed at me. I hope I didn’t do something horrific to myself trying to integrate with this energy. I can feel it overpowering my system still, fundamentally changing my body. Even my core doesn’t feel the same. Instead of the warm energy of a Lycan, the power circulating through me and coming from my remade core is both icy cold and comfortably warm at the same time.
The cloud doesn’t seem to be shrinking though, as much as I can absorb keeps getting replaced, and even more. The battle still rages outside and I can hear hurried footsteps in the halls. I look to my left where I can feel a lot of souls moving, a new sense similar to what I could do with my eyes closed and intense focus before. Stealth will soon mean nothing to me. As long as my opponent is alive that is.
Some of the souls are trying to fade and leave. That must be the triage ward of the hospital then. They think they can just escape into peaceful death after taking me prisoner? I don’t think so. A touch of power anchors them to their bodies, temporarily undead but immobile. A quality healing pill or doctor should have no problem bringing them back to actual life with horrific memories of being caught in limbo.
My body seems to have settled into a final configuration it approves of. At least it’s not remaking itself anymore, only absorbing energy at an astounding rate. No more energy is flowing into the cloud around me and the lightning has stopped. The Golden flecks are still there, but not arcing between each other.
"The lightning has now stopped along with the fighting. Preliminary data shows the effect to have been a result of divine energy manipulation in the area during the breakthrough process." I hear Doosan say in an exhausted voice.
I look around, having lost track of absolutely everything while the process was in full swing. Ahra is asleep on a stack of papers, Doosan has notes everywhere and a second set of monitoring equipment has been set up at the edge of the room, well away from the black energy ball that has almost absorbed into my body.
I feel amazing, like I’m floating on air. No, I feel amazing and I am floating on air. I look down and see that the beanbag chair is half a meter below my crossed legs. That’s pretty cool.
As the energy subsides, so does the floating and I return to my seat, giving myself a final systems check. Everything is working, my ears and tail feel fine while my eyesight is better than ever. A thought lets me focus on the energy around me, and I can see the flow around the two others in the room. The pulse of their heartbeats and the flow of their cultivation is clear as day. It feels like I could reach out and grab it, molding or stopping it with a thought.
Ahra has a blockage in one arm, from an old wound. I should test my theory while I have the chance. The effect is like water, hard to grab, but easy to direct. With a tweak from my own aura, the damage is smoothed out and the flow through her arm is now unimpeded. Looking at Doosan it doesn’t look so easy to change. He’s a Divine Realm cultivator, the flow of his energy is strong and stable. I’ll avoid messing with him for now, who knows what experiments he might think up.
"So how do you feel? I’m still working to quantify what exactly happened there, but you have certainly gained significant power." Doosan says, fresh notebook in hand.
"I’m beyond great. A bit confused and off balance though, it feels like the universe shifted on its axis around me. Like I am not what I was before, and neither is anything else. If that makes any sense."
"Ah, perfect sense. It’s the beginning to the first stage of enlightenment. Normally a cultivator would reach that point when they move from the initial to middle stages of their journey through the ranks of Immortal Realm cultivation. But with all the changes and the amount of Divine Energy in your body right now, I can’t even tell what Realm your cultivation is in." Doosan tells me, filling in his notebook.
"Better question, do I even still count as a Lycan at this point? I feel so different." I mutter to myself, but the Researcher hears it anyhow.
"Can I take some blood work? It will help us see if you’re still mortal, still Lycan or what you might have become. If you’re no longer a mortal species we might have to rethink our studies. The Immortal Council has guidelines for experimenting on immortal beings after all."
He goes to gather some blood drawing equipment from the hospital wing and I ponder his answer. Does he mean there’s no rules on experimenting on mortals? Probably. They did declare me a pet Puppy when I arrived here after all. The only reason anyone even objected is because I was already claimed.
I smell body wash from the next room and get up to investigate, as I could really use a shower after all that. Plus the clothes I was wearing were filthy to begin with. Yes, it’s a fully stocked oversized bathroom with a stand up shower. I don’t even bother undressing at first, simply washing the clothes while I wear them before removing them and dropping them on the floor.
Fifteen minutes later I’m all clean and standing on top of the Nephilim height counter in front of the mirror. I still look like me, mostly. My eyes are jet black from edge to edge, no pupil or iris visible. Only a few flecks of golden light. That’s a bit creepy, I hope it doesn’t scare the children. My hair and fur are still strawberry blonde, and the length hasn’t changed, so I’m good there. My frame is still tiny, and I don’t think I’ve grown in height at all. I think I’ve gone up a bra size though, my chest feels and looks heavier now, at least a C cup.
Winning.
My skin tone is now a more creamy white color, not a flesh tone, but more like a Jade stone. Light but perfectly even. It’s close in shade to before, but with an unnatural tone. Nothing a little makeup can’t hide if it becomes necessary though. Annoyingly, I still look just as young as I did before, perhaps even more so without any blemishes on my skin.
The big shock is the Death God’s mark. It now covers my left Shoulder and upper arm to the elbow, and spreads across my entire back, across to my right shoulder blade and down almost to my waist. An Epic scene of a black dragon scorching a world bare. The whole thing radiates power and authority, a warning to anyone that sees it.
I’m not putting wet rags back on, so I instead opt for my High Priestess Robes and step outside to where I can hear Doosan and Ahra waiting.
