Chapter 41: Chapter 41

Isabella gulped, knowing the threat wasn’t empty.

This woman became the CEO’s secretary in just one day, and there was a possibility that Cindy would eventually replace Madam Winter as Mr. Saenz’s wife.

Isabella needed to play her cards right to keep her job. It was already difficult enough to find a job at this time of age and under the pressure of Camilla.

"Miss, may I know why you came with Madam Winter in the morning and left later than her?" Isabella inquired.

She knew it might sound a bit too rash, but she needed all the information she could get to report to Madam Camilla. Additionally, she wanted to connect the dots in her mind.

"Mm, I guess it makes sense that you can’t find the similarity between us because Winter is already old. But we’re sisters," Cindy said. "She’s my older sister who escorted me for my first job."

That realization finally connected everything, including the reason why Madam Winter left early in a terrible mood.

But just to be safe, Isabella wanted to clarify further.

"B-but Madam Winter left earlier, Miss. And she didn’t seem to be happy..."

"Well, it’s obvious," Cindy sighed. "Look, my sister is the sweetest woman in the world. She’s my best friend. But even best friends can be jealous, right? That’s what happened with my sis. She got jealous because Sebastian immediately promoted me to be his private secretary. I can’t help it... oh, but you should keep this a secret. I’m sure many people will hate me because of this privilege I got."

Isabella wasn’t sure how to accept that claim since it seemed very unlikely. However, given that this woman had become the new secretary, her story had some weight.

Isabella could believe that Cindy was Madam Winter’s sister—if she was adopted— because they looked completely different from head to toe.

Nevertheless, it was unwise for her to inquire too much. She had to stop now and report everything to Madam Camilla as part of her job.

"I have to go now. Bye, Isabella!" Cindy said cheerily before she left the office lobby.

Isabella waited until Cindy was out of her sight before calling Madam Camilla.

"Hello, Madam. I’ve obtained enough information about the woman Madam Winter brought to the office today."

"Oh? That’s faster than I thought," Camilla sounded pleasantly surprised, and that motivated Isabella to do better so she’d get praise instead of scolding. "Then tell me what you know."

"Um... her name is Cindy Hazard. She claimed that she’s the new secretary working directly under Mr. Saenz, but she said she’s more of a private secretary—I don’t know what that means though."

Lies.

Of course, Isabella knew what that meant. She just didn’t know how to address it better without offending Madam Loan Shark.

After all, Camilla seemed to have an unhealthy codependency with her son.

"Private secretary? Huh. He hasn’t told me about this yet. He’s probably too embarrassed to tell me," Camilla commented, though she didn’t sound upset. In fact, to Isabella’s ears, she seemed pleased. "Tell me more. Is she at least a beauty? She’s young, right?"

"Well, she is young, and I wouldn’t say she’s bad-looking. She’s quite pretty," Isabella assessed objectively. "But compared to Madam Winter, it’s an unfair match since Madam Winter is very beautiful and has this regal aura around her."

Camilla scowled, but she didn’t refute it.

Because she knew it was true.

When it comes to beauty, it was hard to compare against that stupid wench. Winter had a cold beauty that would make many men drool in fantasy.

Camilla suspected that Winter’s beauty was the only reason Aiden would abandon his bachelor life and settle down with her.

But that was it.

That was all Winter had, just a beauty that would eventually expire like spoiled milk.

That’s why Camilla wasn’t worried that her son would fall in love with Winter. That stupid widow was already nearing her forty. She would lose her luster in a few years.

Now that Sebastian had a mistress only two days after his wedding to Winter, Camilla was relieved. It meant Sebastian wouldn’t be attached to Winter.

Yeah, that skinny bitch deserved to suffer for stealing all the wealth that she and Sebastian deserved.

"What else do you know about her?"

"Um, Cindy said that Mr. Saenz is charmed by her beauty; that’s why she became the new private secretary, which upset her sister," Isabella murmured, and she stiffened when she remembered the most vital information. "Oh, Cindy said that she’s Madam Winter’s sister."

"Sister?!" Camilla paused for a moment. She didn’t have any information about Winter’s family other than she was adopted by a black woman from Brooklyn.

The fact that Winter daringly brought her sister to the office meant she hadn’t fully transferred all the power within the company to Sebastian.

"Y-yes! Madam Winter left early. She looked like she could snap any moment," Isabella recalled. "I think Cindy is telling the truth, Madam. Maybe Mr. Saenz truly cheated on Madam Winter..."

"That’s good. It’ll teach her that she’s worthless to my son," Camilla said proudly, which startled Isabella.

She had expected Madam Loan Shark to be angry at her son for cheating only two days after the wedding, but it seemed she had placed too much hope in this cruel woman.

"Is that all you have?" Camilla asked.

"Y-yes, Madam. I’ll keep you informed. This woman—I mean, Cindy is very chatty and somewhat arrogant. So, it shouldn’t be hard for me to gather more information later on," Isabella said. If she only ended her statement with ’Yes, Madam.’ Then Camilla would give her hell.

"Good, keep an eye on her. I’ll find her myself later," Camilla said. She grinned maliciously, thinking of a woman who would be good for her son. A woman just like herself: smart, cunning, and beautiful.

"You did a good job. Keep it up, so your father will keep breathing," Camilla said before hanging up the call.
