Madam Wants To Divorce Her Second Husband -
Chapter 34
Chapter 34: Chapter 34
"That’s not what I meant!" Sebastian raised his voice in frustration. "I’m not looking down on you. I’m just worried that you might not understand office politics!"
Winter visibly rolled her eyes.
"Stop with your fake concern. I’m really tired of it. Why don’t you text one of the girls in your contacts and sleep with her in a hotel, so I can get an uncontested divorce immediately," she said nonchalantly.
Sebastian slowly released Winter’s wrist and stared at her with an unreadable expression. "Do you have an ounce of goodwill towards me, your husband, Winter?"
Winter paused for a moment. Deep down, she knew that she still had an ounce of goodwill towards him. Despite all of his harsh words and indifference towards her, he had never physically abused her in their past lives.
On top of that, in their current situation, she noticed how Sebastian seemed like a boy in love whenever they shared a moment of harmonious banter as if he would actually worship her if she gave him a small chance to prove himself.
’But that’s because my standards are on the ground. Not getting abused is literally the bare minimum,’ Winter thought, wanting to slap herself for being so cheap that it was so easy for her to get swayed by a few smiles from him.
"I’m not obligated to show any goodwill towards you. So get over this charade and do your job."
Sebastian watched as Winter left the penthouse and closed the door. He stared at the door for a while, feeling lost, his heart filled with regret and disappointment.
"But I’m not faking anything..." Sebastian murmured. "I’m just worried for you, Winter."
Sebastian sighed.
Despite his heartache, he had expected everything, including Winter’s hostility and distrust towards him. So all he could do was endure and hope to win her over in time.
Sebastian returned to the dining table. He sat and stared at the two plates in front of him.
The pancakes plate was already cold, while the one across the table was warmer, fluffier, and was made with so much care.
He remembered everything about Winter, so he made the pancake exactly to her preference, including her preference for a super fluffy pancake.
He knew Winter preferred blueberries and blackberries over strawberries, so he added a few berries next to the cut strawberries just for her.
He also knew she preferred maple syrup and honey, so he put both bottles on the table for her to choose from.
’She laid all these traps to start a petty argument with me. Did she finally give up after realizing I won’t play the divorce game she wants?’ Sebastian pondered.
"Oh well, it doesn’t matter because she refused to eat anything I cooked in the end," he scoffed, though his scoff turned into deep regret, knowing Winter was just mirroring his past actions and words.
He had said those horrible things and insulted her many times.
Sebastian slowly reached his heart. He felt it slow, sure beat.
"This heartache... is this what you felt when I said those horrible things to you, wife?" Sebastian reflected on what he had said and done toward her, and he couldn’t imagine Winter’s heartache.
It hurt so much that he just wanted to cry, hug her legs, and beg her not to torture him like this.
"I was so horrible to you, Winter. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry..." Sebastian lowered his head.
He wanted to say it out loud in front of his wife.
He wanted to come clean, to tell her that he was the same Sebastian who had pushed her to the brink of insanity—the same bastard husband who ignored her desperate pleas.
"But if I really do that, would she accept me back?" Sebastian asked himself this question every single day, too scared to seek an answer.
Judging from Winter’s current hostility, the answer was obvious.
So, Sebastian could only eat his breakfast in regret, silently complaining that it tasted bland now that Winter wasn’t near him.

Winter exited the elevator. She looked at her usual parking spot and saw Arthur leaning on the car, silently staring at something on his phone with a stupid smile.
Arthur swiped the phone screen and kissed it before noticing his Madam walking towards him.
He quickly hid his phone and bowed, "Good morning, Madam."
"It’s rare to see you smiling like a lovesick fool in the morning. So, tell me, who’s the lucky girl?" Winter teased.
Arthur’s cheeks reddened instantly. He shook his head and replied, "I—It’s nobody. I don’t know what you’re talking about, Madam."
"You kissed the phone screen, so I’m sure you’re definitely in love. It’s okay if you don’t want to tell me. I’m just teasing you," Winter giggled as she entered the car.
Arthur sat in the driver’s seat and reaffirmed, "It’s nobody, Madam. I—It was my mom."
"Oh, that’s not a gaze you use for your Mom unless you are a degenerate weirdo," Winter said.
"No! No, I—It’s not my mom. B—but I assure you it’s someone you don’t know! Y—You absolutely don’t know her, Madam!" Arthur stammered. He began having a cold sweat as Winter continued to giggle.
"Okay, okay, I’m not going to ask you. It’s your privacy, after all," Winter said. "And why are you panicking? It’s not like I’d fire you if I found out."
’You will fire me if you find out, Madam. I’m sure of it,’ Arthur thought. He quickly shifted the topic, "Where do you want to go today, Madam?"
"To the office. I told you it would be my daily activity from now on," Winter replied. "But before that, can you stop by Krispy Kreme and buy me donuts and a cappuccino?"
"But you usually dislike having anything but coffee for breakfast, Madam," Arthur commented. "Did something happen?"
That was true, but Winter was so damn hungry right now since she only had cookies for dinner.
"I’m just a little hungry. Just do what I said, Arthur."
"Understood, Madam."
