Chapter 30: Chapter 30

"YOU BEAST!" Winter yelled as she rushed to her bedroom and snatched a winter coat.

She draped it over her body and buttoned it up, ensuring Sebastian couldn’t see her body shape before returning to the kitchen.

Winter quickly pulled the coat tighter when Sebastian’s gaze landed on her. She didn’t want to give Sebastian a chance to lust after her body.

"Do you really have to cover up in front of your own husband?" Sebastian sneered. "Is it inappropriate for me to touch the woman I wed?"

"I have to because you’re a beast with no self-control!" Winter yelled, taking a step back in fear that Sebastian might jump on her.

She knew it sounded ridiculous, but the way Sebastian looked at her body showed an unbridled lust that he didn’t even try to hide. Like a starving tiger, he looked at her as if she were the most delicious deer he could eat all day.

’Has he always been this lustful?’ Winter wondered. ’I remember he always looked at me with disgust, which turned into indifference after a year.’

Even on their first night, when they consummated their marriage, he had looked at her as if she were a bother.

’So what’s with that horny look just now?’

Winter didn’t know what was on his mind, and it made her wary. But she couldn’t get an answer to her own question, so she returned to the main topic and asked, "What are you doing in my kitchen?"

"Can’t you see? I’m cooking breakfast for us," Sebastian said, casually placing a plate on the marble countertop. It was three stacks of warm pancakes with berries on the side, something Winter would enjoy for breakfast.

But, of course, Winter didn’t believe the ’us’ part. There was no damn way Sebastian Saenz would cook her breakfast for free.

’Did he put poison in it? Maybe that witch Camilla can’t wait to get rid of me, so she ordered her son to kill me with poison, and of course, her oh-so-obedient son will do as she said,’ Winter’s mind ran wild.

She knew it sounded ridiculous, but she had lived under Camilla’s intimidation for two years and knew well how that manipulative woman could turn anyone insane.

Winter stared at the pancake suspiciously. She didn’t know if Sebastian might’ve put the poison inside the batter or injected it inside the berries.

But she definitely would not eat anything that he made.

"Why are you being so overly familiar to me?" Winter asked suspiciously. "What do you want?"

"What do I want? Well..." Sebastian was a little embarrassed. If he had to be honest, he wanted to slowly warm her heart so she would give him a chance.

On top of that, he had seen such a beautiful scene in the morning. It made him want to ditch work and make love to her instead.

What?

He was still a fully functional straight man! He was just being honest with himself!

"I just think that we can be more civil with one another. We’re going to live together for a long time anyway," Sebastian gave a different reply to what was in his heart. "I’m already having a headache working in the office with all the troubles that Aiden left after his death. I don’t want another headache at home."

"So you think of me as a headache, huh?" Winter sneered. "To you, I’m a worthless burden."

"I—" Sebastian paused for a moment. He knew Winter was trying to provoke him into snapping at her. So he quickly collected himself and sighed, "Which man wouldn’t get a headache when his beautiful wife doesn’t show him love after a long day at work?"

Sebastian’s answer wasn’t what Winter wanted.

She wanted him to snap and fight her. She wanted him to call her a bitch or something worse, so she would have a reason to make his life hell while he stayed in this penthouse.

Winter clicked her tongue in annoyance. "I admit you’re good at using your tongue, Sebastian."

"But I haven’t used my tongue on you yet. Want to know what I can do with it?" Sebastian grinned perversely, and Winter shuddered.

"Y—You filthy animal!" Winter yelled, but her mind imagined something really lewd for a few seconds. She shook her head, trying to clear it, and quickly shifted the topic. "I doubt those pancakes are edible. You don’t look like someone who can cook."

"Why’d you think so? It looks pretty edible to me," Sebastian said. "Besides, I’m a capable cook, alright? I wouldn’t survive uni eating pizza every day."

"Well, you give me a frat boy aura, and I know how messy they can get," Winter said. She recalled one boyfriend she had in uni. He was in a frat and probably the grossest man she had ever met.

"Hey! I’ve never been in a frat!" Sebastian denied. "I was valedictorian both in high school and university. The only club I joined in university was the economics club."

"Sure, as if I’d believe that," Winter said, rolling her eyes. Despite her words, she actually doubted her judgment about him.

She couldn’t believe that Sebastian had been a model student in high school and university. She imagined he had probably spent his time sleeping with many girls and getting wasted every weekend in his filthy frat house.

However, she knew he was very smart. He had managed to devise a strategic plan to save Aiden’s company from bankruptcy and improve the company to new heights. So, the claim that he was a valedictorian in high school and university might be true.

’Could it be that he did both? Maybe he was a frat and also a valedictorian,’ Winter thought deeply for a moment before realizing her own foolishness. ’Wait, why am I thinking about him? I don’t give a damn who he slept with when he was young, and I don’t give a damn whether he was a frat or really a valedictorian!’
