Chapter 29: Chapter 29

He was also offended when his mother called his wife a bitch. But he had to be careful, or else Winter would get hurt.

"I’ll have to find a way to dismantle her people first. I don’t want a huge threat looming over Winter like this," Sebastian muttered. He knew it would take a while to do that, mainly because he didn’t know how deep his mother’s connection was.

But he still had to do something because he wanted to protect his wife no matter what.

Sebastian turned his body so he could stare at the view of the New York City building from his window.

He would’ve gotten angry in this situation if he were the old him.

But right now, he could only feel guilt.

"She spent two years staring at this view, living in this cramped guest bedroom while I took everything from her," Sebastian murmured, then snorted sarcastically, "You’re such an asshole, Sebastian."

"If this is my life now, then so be it. I don’t mind living under her shadow as long as she’s happy," Sebastian said humbly. "As long as she doesn’t leave me again..."

Winter stared at the beautiful meadow with the mountains in the background. She knew she was dreaming because she had never visited this place.

Aiden was embracing her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder as they gazed at the beautiful scenery together.

She knew she was in a dream, but still wanted to indulge in it.

’Everything will be just fine, Winter,’ Aiden whispered.

Winter gritted her teeth. ’How can everything be just fine when you don’t want to take me? I jumped from that balcony because I wanted to meet you!’

’You shouldn’t meet me when you have so much resentment in this world,’ Aiden said.

’But I don’t need anything in this world,’ Winter replied. She wiped the tears from her face and added, ’I just want to be with you, Aiden. Why is it so hard for me to be with you?’

’I want to meet you again after you finally let go of your hatred, Winter. Your life is difficult, but I know you can pass through this difficult life, especially with my—as your new husband.’

Aiden’s speech became slurred in her ears for some reason.

’What did you say?’

’You can pass this difficult life. You have my—. He will protect you in my stead.’

’I—I can’t hear you, Aiden,’ Winter said, looking over her shoulder. Her heart jumped when she noticed Aiden had disappeared, and another man replaced him. He wrapped his arms around her hips and pulled her deeper into his embrace.

And that man was Sebastian Saenz.

Sebastian smiled gently at Winter and said, "I will protect you from now on, Winter Saenz."

Winter immediately opened her eyes.

She looked around and realized she was still in her bedroom, hugging Gus, Aiden’s favorite goose pillow.

She gritted her teeth in frustration at her dream.

"Just leave me alone, Sebastian. Why do you have to appear in my dreams?!" Winter grew even angrier knowing that the bastard had actually embraced her in the dream. "This is because Sebastian is living with me right now."

Though she understood that Sebastian had no control over her dreams, Winter still woke up in a foul mood.

It took her a while to calm down.

Checking the clock, she realized it was already eight in the morning. She decided to prepare a light breakfast and coffee before heading to the office to meet Cindy and arrange her first job.

Winter got out of bed, washed her face, and left the bedroom wearing her pajama dress.

Winter was glad when she saw that nothing in the penthouse had changed overnight. She had feared that Sebastian might bring his crazy mother while she slept, but he seemed to be keeping his promise.

She heard clinks-clanks from the kitchen, as if someone was using the utensils.

"Isn’t it too early for the housekeeper to come?" Winter commented. She walked to the kitchen and was surprised to see Sebastian wearing a pink apron, standing in front of the stove, carefully stacking one pancake after another.

He meticulously built each stack until there were three layers of pancake on one plate, with a few blueberries on the side.

Sebastian appeared deeply engrossed, he didn’t realize Winter had been watching him the whole time.

"What are you doing?" Winter asked.

"Oh—" Sebastian spun around abruptly, his body tensing at the sight of Winter in her white pajama dress.

His eyes roamed from her head to toe, lingering on the exposed pillowy and beautiful cleavage Winter hadn’t fully covered.

It took her a moment to realize where Sebastian had been looking at.

"Eyes up here, Sebastian," Winter said coldly, and Sebastian slowly lifted his gaze.

"S—Sorry, it’s just a little..." Sebastian struggled to find the right words that wouldn’t offend Winter and said, "You should probably cover up. You’re too distracting."

Winter’s cheeks flushed red. She quickly shielded her cleavage with her hands and snapped, "Y—You filthy pervert! How could you look at me with those disgusting eyes?!"

"Hey, I’m still a fully functioning straight man, okay? How am I supposed to overlook those big boobs right in front of me?!" Sebastian countered, feeling a little offended at Winter’s accusation. "Besides, you’re my wife. It’s only natural for me to lust after your body!"

"You—!" Winter was speechless. Yet, she couldn’t deny her own lapse in judgment just moments ago.

She had assumed that Sebastian had no desire for her body since this bastard hated her, so she hadn’t bothered to cover up that much.

Who would’ve thought he’d be eyeing her with obvious desire in his eyes?!

Winter quickly turned around so Sebastian wouldn’t be able to see her breasts. But he couldn’t resist adding, "Yeah, that doesn’t help much. Your waist looks like it’d be nice to hold, and your ass is so big and juicy, it makes me want to motorboat them."
