Chapter 25: Chapter 25

Sebastian’s mood lightened as his lips curled up happily. For two years after Winter’s death, he had imagined a beautiful married life with her.

He imagined how good it would be if he could fix everything and start a new life with her.

He wanted to treat her right, protect her, and give her the security and love she truly deserved.

Sebastian pictured many scenarios—both wholesome and not-so-wholesome—with his wife.

He laughed at himself for indulging in such fantasies, knowing they could never happen because he could no longer be together with Winter, who was already dead.

Although he knew it was far too late for him, he still liked to fantasize about a loving relationship with Winter as a way to cope with his depression.

’And now, I can relive all my fantasies with the real Winter...’ Sebastian thought.

"T—Then, I will start unpacking my stuff and—"

"I will be the one who moves out instead," Winter interrupted.

Sebastian’s heart ached as his hope was crushed once more.

’Hah, don’t be stupid, Sebastian. You knew this would happen anyway,’ he tried to toughen himself, even though the pain in his heart grew stronger. ’I need to get used to her contempt if I want to live with her.’

Honestly, he got the idea after the conversation he had with his mother at the office.

His mother wanted the penthouse because she had never lived in one before. But she soon realized it wasn’t for her and abandoned it after destroying almost all the memorabilia between Winter and her first husband.

Thus, to protect Winter from his mother, Sebastian decided to live in this place with her, making it impossible for his mother to move into the penthouse because she hated Winter so much.

’Besides, if we live together, I can watch over her every day. And Mom wouldn’t be able to hurt Winter with me around.’

Sebastian maintained his indifferent expression and asked, "Why would you do that? Don’t you love this penthouse?"

"I do. But that doesn’t mean I can’t move out, especially with you here," Winter said. "I’ll take my belongings with Aiden and go to the new mansion. DO NOT bother me this time, Sebastian Saenz."

Sebastian suddenly burst out laughing, causing Winter to frown in response. "What’s so funny?" she asked.

"Hahaha, sorry, sorry. I just find it amusing because I think you’d prefer to stay here with me rather than in the mansion," Sebastian curled his lips meaningfully. Then, he added unexpectedly, "Because I’ve already told my mom to stay in that mansion."

"What—?!" Winter’s eyes widened. "You... you’re giving the mansion I bought to her?"

"She wants to live in a beautiful mansion, so yes," Sebastian shrugged. "She already moved all of her belongings in the mansion today. So, unless you want to live with her, I suggest you stay in this penthouse with me. Trust me, you don’t want to live in the same house with her."

Of course, that was complete bullshit.

Sebastian was just tricking Winter so she would stay in the penthouse, forcing Camilla to take the mansion instead, which would be the best solution for Winter’s safety.

Meanwhile, Winter realized she had been trapped.

She had to choose between staying with or living in the mansion with that crazy bitch, which was far worse.

Sebastian might have hated her, even if he didn’t show it. But Camilla was openly hostile and had hurt her plenty of times in her previous life.

She had another option: living in a hotel temporarily. But that meant giving Sebastian and Camilla control over all of her houses.

So, she had to choose the lesser evil between the two, and the answer was clear.

Winter gritted her teeth, realizing she had no choice but to stay with Sebastian.

She took a deep breath to calm herself. She was already exhausted from dealing with Sebastian in the office and reuniting with her long-lost mother and sister.

All she needed now was rest, and this man was in her way.

"We need to establish some house rules, Sebastian," Winter said firmly.

Sebastian smirked.

Winter had taken the bait as expected, and now he could stay with his wife while trapping his mother inside the mansion.

"Do we need house rules as husband and wife? I told you I still see you as my legally wedded wife, right?"

"Even if we were actually married out of love—which we are not, by the way—I would still set up some house rules. I know that you’re a slob," Winter said. She had lived with Sebastian for two years and already knew everything about him, including his habits and daily routine. "First, you are not allowed to sleep in the master bedroom. That’s only for me."

"We’re married; shouldn’t we sleep together?" Sebastian tried to compromise. It had been a long time since the last time he shared a bed with Winter.

Sebastian was rarely home in their previous life. He was busy working most of the time to ensure the company stabilized and prospered. Even when he was home at night, he’d just sleep and ignore Winter completely, sometimes kicking her out of the master bedroom because he didn’t want to be near her at all.

He thought he didn’t need to sleep with Winter, but after she passed away, he began craving for her warmth endlessly.

Thus, now that he had been given another chance, he really wanted to be close to Winter. He wanted to hug her, feel her warm body and beating heart. He wanted to make sure that Winter was truly alive, because the idea of hugging her cold corpse broke his mind and heart.

"In your dream, Sebastian Saenz," Winter said harshly. "I would never sleep with you."

"Even if we’re not doing anything while sleeping?"

"Yes."

Sebastian took a deep breath to calm himself. He had expected this answer from Winter, but it still hurt him knowing that his own wife had rejected him.

"Alright, then I’ll use the guest bedroom."
