Madam Wants To Divorce Her Second Husband -
Chapter 24
Chapter 24: Chapter 24
Winter was too stunned to react. She stared at the bastard who dared to sit on her sofa, hoping Sebastian would leave the penthouse immediately without being asked.
But, of course, that was just wishful thinking. Instead of leaving, Sebastian made himself comfortable on that sofa and asked another question, "Were you having fun with another man outside? Hah, we just got married. I shouldn’t be boring enough for you to cheat on."
"What the fuck are you talking about?" Winter retorted. She looked down at Sebastian as if looking at a worm.
Sebastian took a big gulp of wine straight from the bottle again, his speech growing bolder, "You should know that you’re MY wife. You can’t just run around without telling me anything. What if you get hurt by someone out there?"
"The only one who’d hurt me is you, Sebastian Saenz," Winter said, crossing her arms over her chest. His accusations pissed her off. He was already annoying her just by existing, and he only made it worse. "And why are you in MY penthouse? I already bought you a much bigger mansion. Go back there and leave me alone."
"I like it here," Sebastian replied casually. "It’s closer to the office. It has a beautiful view of New York from the balcony."
He paused for a moment, his expression turning somber as he remembered the horrible moment when he discovered Winter had jumped to her death from that same balcony.
"But I don’t think we need to see the view from the balcony—" Sebastian said as he got up from the sofa. He walked toward Winter and grinned as he reached to caress her cheek. "—because the best view is in front of me. You’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met, Winter."
Winter quickly slapped his hand away and stepped back. She wiped her cheek, feeling disgusted by his touch.
Sebastian’s gaze darkened as he looked at how Winter tried to erase any trace of his touch. "I’m just complimenting you. Why do you act like it’s filthy?"
"Because it is filthy. I don’t know how many women you’ve touched before me, and I’m sure you said the same thing to them," Winter scoffed. "You and your cheap words mean nothing to me, Sebastian."
"I never said that to another woman."
"Like I would believe that," Winter rolled her eyes.
Sebastian was actually telling the truth. He had many ex-girlfriends before Winter, but he never told any of them they were the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Simply because none had taken his breath away at first sight, except Winter, of course.
Drunk or not, his mind and heart were in perfect harmony.
Winter was indeed the most beautiful woman he had ever met.
But what was the point of trying to explain it when Winter didn’t even want to give him a chance?
Winter noticed that Sebastian had already made himself comfortable by taking the wine from the wine cellar. Her eyes also observed her surroundings and saw that Sebastian already put his work briefcase on the carpet and hung his suit on an antique hanger that Aiden used before.
She hated how Sebastian began taking up the spaces reserved for Aiden because that was a sign that Sebastian would eventually erase any trace of Aiden in the house.
She was scared that Sebastian would invite his mother into the penthouse and start replacing everything, including tossing all of Aiden’s memorabilia.
She had to get rid of him as soon as possible.
"Look, I’m already tired of dealing with you today, and I’m sure you’re tired of me as well," Winter said.
"I’m not tired of dealing with you. We’re married. We’re supposed to be together forever, right?" Sebastian said, though he scoffed afterward as if he didn’t believe his own words. "Anyway, I’m not leaving. I like it here."
"You can find another penthouse. You have access to my bank account, so buy one and get the hell out," Winter said firmly. Her patience thinned with every second this man stayed in her safe space with Aiden.
"Nope, not doing that," Sebastian shrugged before returning to the sofa and putting his legs on the coffee table. "We’re husband and wife. We should live together. It’s just the norm, isn’t it?"
"That norm doesn’t apply when I don’t see you as my husband—"
"That norm still applies because I see you as my legally wedded wife," Sebastian countered with a smirk. "Anyway, I’m tired after a whole day of working. Why don’t you join me here? Let’s watch Netflix or just chill. Netflix and chill would work too."
Sebastian patted the spot next to him on the sofa, and Winter didn’t budge at all from her position.
"Maybe I should burn that sofa later since it has been contaminated by you," Winter said coldly.
The casual grin on Sebastian’s face disappeared. "Well, you’re not changing my mind. I want to stay in this penthouse no matter what."
He drank another swig of the wine, feeling nervous as he saw the hatred and disgust reflected in Winter’s eyes. This was his only coping mechanism to maintain his pretense.
Because he knew the consequences if Winter discovered he was the same Sebastian Saenz who had pushed her to her breaking point and caused her to kill herself.
Winter clenched her fist. She didn’t know Sebastian could be this unpredictable.
She thought she already knew everything about him after two years of marriage. But it seemed he was more willful than she imagined.
Winter looked around the living room, relieved that Sebastian hadn’t changed anything.
She stared at him, who didn’t have the slightest care in the world, and said, "If you want to stay in this penthouse, then fine, you can stay."
"Wait, really?" Sebastian was genuinely surprised. He thought he’d have to go on a heated debate with Winter just so he could stay by her side.
But maybe she wasn’t as hard-hearted as he thought.
