Loving The Temperamental Adonis -
Chapter 106: His fiance
Chapter 106: His fiance
Davina had immediately flown back to the country when she saw the live event where Neil had been kissing a girl. Days ago, she’d been informed by General David that Neil had agreed to their marriage and she had been happy and excited about it, just to be heartbroken by that live show event.
Neil didn’t even know about her return but she’d come straight to his spare mansion in the city where she knew he would be staying until he had thought of a solution to clear up the mess he’d caused. She was grateful that he wasn’t around because she planned to surprise him with a home made dinner that wasn’t cooked by her but by the servants she had brought from her own mansion. She’d even invited a few of her friends to pass time before he arrived.
When she heard the doorbell, she’d thought he was back and had rushed to open the door in excitement only to find the same girl she had watched kissing her man on a live show standing in front of the door. Davina would have closed the door on her face but then she immediately had other plans. She had watched a footage in Neil’s condo and realized he had offered the girl to work for him.
"Your fiancee told you I was coming? I’m sorry, but I don’t understand. I am here to see Leo. Perhaps I came to the wrong house." Said Mia in confusion. Leo had never mentioned to her about having any girlfriend or fiancee. But then again, she knew nothing about him to know if this woman was telling her the truth or not.
"You came to the right house, Miss Harrison. I am Leo’s fiancee. He told me you’d be coming here to cook for me. But I see you came overdressed for a maid..." Davina trailed off while giving Mia a scornful look that showed her disdain for the girl.
Mia, however felt her heart drop into the pit of her stomach at the realization that the man she liked was engaged to someone else. She couldn’t believe it and remained rooted in place. He hadn’t given her his address because he wanted them to be alone so they could talk, but because he wanted her to cook for his woman...
Mia suddenly felt stupid. She had been delusional enough to believe that someone as good looking as that man would like someone like her. She’d even dressed up for him only to be slapped in the face by his fiancee, who Mia suddenly realized, they would look good together. The woman looked to be someone of high-class with her attire and attitude. The jealously that clutched her heart was so intense she wanted to hide away and cry her eyes out for being a fool.
Mia’s eyes welled up with tears of both humiliating anger for herself and for Neil, but she held them back. She was set to travel with her mother tomorrow, but before she left, she wanted to catch one last glimpse of his face and remember the man she had loved but could never have. And so, she forced a smile as she replied to the elegant woman standing at the door.
"Yes, that’s exactly why I’m here. What would you like me to prepare for you, Miss?" Mia asked, surprising Davina.
Davina had expected the girl to become upset and leave, but it seemed she was content with being referred to as a maid. However, since Mia refused to back down, Davina decided to teach her a lesson.
"Come inside, and I’ll let you know what I feel like eating today. You will cook a meal for each of my friends and also for my fiancé so he’ll have something to eat when he returns," Davina declared.
So he wasn’t even around. Mia thought as she stepped inside the grand mansion. However, she would make sure to see him before she would leave.
When Mia followed Davina into the spacious dark themed living room, she saw three other women sitting on the couch with wine glasses in their hands as they seemed to be having their fun time before her arrival, but when they saw her. They all looked towards Davina in question.
"Who is this?" One of them asked while eyeing Mia from head to toe. She had asked because they were elite women who don’t mingle with just any women, and this one here looked like an ordinary girl with a cute face like that of a teenager than an adult.
"She’s my fiance’s maid and she came here to cook us something to eat." Replied Davina while turning to glare at Mia while saying to her friends. "Tell her what you want to eat and Miss Harrison will cook anything you want for you."
"But I thought your servants have already done that. Why are_"
"My servants cooking is not as good as this maid’s." Davina cut off her friend’s words. "Miss Harrison will redo it for us." She declared while giving her friends a look that made them realize she was doing it on purpose. And they all played along as they trusted Davina knew what she was doing.
"Oh, right. I want to eat..."
Mia didn’t say a word as she listened to what they wanted her to cook for them. After she was done listening to their list, she made her way towards the kitchen. And once she was inside it, she let her tears fall but she didn’t make a sound as she began to find the pots and pans to use for the feast she was about to cook. She didn’t complain because she liked to do things when her emotions were all over the place.
At this moment, it was a bonus for her that they ordered her to cook those many dishes. She would keep herself busy until she could no longer think of how heartbroken she felt and wait for the man responsible for her first ever heartbreak.
Mia blocked out all the women’s voices, who were laughing loudly from the living room and began to cook the food.
By the time Mia finished everything, it was already evening and she couldn’t help but wonder if the person she wanted to see would come back anytime soon.
Mia informed Davina that she was done, and Davina told her to set the table for them then she could leave. Mia went to do as she was told again without complaining. She even hummed a song to herself while setting the table. When she was done, she admired her creation on the long dinning table with a pride dancing in her brown eyes.
She had cooked and decorated the food like that of a top chef and she was proud of herself for doing something she’d always intended to do. As she was standing at the side admiring the table with a bright smile, Davina and her friends walked into the space.
A deep frown was quick to settle on Davina’s face when she saw the girl smiling instead of sulking and feeling miserable about her life for being ordered around all day. Davina had made her do all the work she had intended to give her servants because she wanted to break the girl, but she got the opposite reaction.
Jealousy and rage swelled inside Davina as she watched the girl. For years, she’d done a lot of things to make Neil see her in a more brighter light, she had loved him and had done many things to make him trust her enough, but no matter how much she did for him, he only saw her as a friend and the woman who’s always ready to have a casual fling with him. She’d given him her body in the camp, not because he asked for it but because she seduced him.
However, he never saw her as a woman worth anything more than a thank you after having sex with her. He had never tried to kiss her whenever anything was happening between them, he was always distant and after satisfying his need, he would discard her like nothing had ever happened. But days ago, she’d watched him kiss this girl with so much tenderness in his eyes, the tenderness he had never for once given her when he made love to her in the past.
Remembering all her unsuccessful schemes to make him love her, Davina felt more rage boil inside her. She clenched her fists so tight she felt her long nails digging into her palm. Her hazel eyes darkened dangerously as she saw that the stupid girl was still unaware of them and was still rearranging the plates on the table with a smile.
"How dare you smile in my house when you are nothing but a maid!" Davina suddenly rebuked harshly, starling Mia and making her drop the expensive wine glass she had picked up and was about to set on the table, but now it broke into tiny little pieces, with it figments scattering on the marble floor.
Mia’s eyes slightly widened as she realized she had broken something that wasn’t hers. And when she looked up towards the woman who had startled her, she swallowed hard by the intense glare that was directed at her.
"You dare to smile when working and now you even broke my favorite wine glass? You clumsy gold digger!" She insulted harshly making Mia frown.
Unconsciously, Mia clenched her fists around the side of her dress to keep herself from retorting to the woman. She reminded herself that this wasn’t her home and that she mustn’t lose control of her own temper.
"I am sorry, I will clean it up." Mia apologized and was about to walk past Davina to go and get the equipment to clean up the broken glass. However, her indifferent calmness only irked Davina who was hoping the girl would do something more so she could teach her a bigger lesson. And when she saw that Mia was walking past her, she swiftly reached out and used her military skills to twist her arms back causing her to bite down on her bottom lips in pain.
"Let go of my arm, you are hurting me!" Exclaimed Mia through gritted teeth.
"Oh, now you are commanding me in my own house, aren’t you, little bitch?" Whispered Davina in a low controlled voice as she leaned down on Mia, "Did you think I won’t notice that you like my fiancee? Ha, let me tell you something, Leo doesn’t like you and he would never. Poor thing, he must have kissed you and touched your body making your hope rise that there is something going on between you two. Tsk, I’m the only one he would ever love and any other thing that must have happened between you two in my absence is because he is just interested in your body."
Davina’s words fell straight on Mia’s ear causing her to close her eyes to control her emotions. She would not give her the satisfaction to see her hurt. "Let go of my arm." She repeated indifferently as if she hadn’t heard anything Davina had whispered to her.
Davina’s anger rose to the top again when she realized her words weren’t enough to hurt the girl. She hadn’t gotten the reaction she wanted. She wanted the girl to cry and feel miserable like she had felt when she watched them kiss. And since her words weren’t enough to do that, Davina released her arm and grabbed her shoulder to turn her around. Before Mia could react, Davina used all her strength to land a resounding hot slap on her cheek.
