Loving The Temperamental Adonis -
Chapter 105: Longing
Chapter 105: Longing
Mia was fast asleep when she felt a hand stroking her cheeks in her sleep. The hand was warm and soothing and she unconsciously leaned into the person’s touch. Without opening her eyes, she murmured softly thinking the person was her Ice cube, "You came back like you said."
"Mia?" Called the person. And Mia’s eyes immediately flew opened only to see that the person by her bed side wasn’t the man she’d thought but her mother.
"Oh, mom, it’s you." She exclaimed as she pushed herself into a sitting position while using her fingers to rub the sleep off her eyes. She had fallen asleep last night waiting for her mother’s arrival and now that she looked around, she noticed it was morning. Mia glanced back at her mother and a startled cry escaped her lips when she noticed her mother’s face.
"W-what happened to your face, mom?" She questioned in concern as she took in the fresh bruises on her mother’s cheek and around her neck. It was like a strangling mark with finger prints. And now that she looked closely, her mother was crying...
"Mom, what’s wrong?" Asked Mia, who had moved to sit in a way she was facing her mother and holding her hand in concern.
Elizabeth wiped away her tears and grasped Mia’s hands into hers. "Mia, can you do me a favor?" She asked while looking into her daughter’s eyes with a serious expression she rarely had on when speaking to her before.
Though Mia wanted to continue asking what was wrong, she nodded her head, "Yes, mama..."
"Good. I want you to stay far away from that man I saw you kiss on the TV days ago. If you truly want us to live long, don’t ever see him again. I_"
"Why?!" Mia cut off her mother as she jumped out of the bed in disbelief. Though she should be embarrassed that her mother had watched her kiss a man but she wasn’t and was instead furious for a reason she also didn’t know of. "Leo is a nice man even though he appears aloof. Why should I stay away from him when he did nothing wrong, mama?" She asked, gentling her voice from her earlier outburst that seemed to have taken even her mother by surprise.
Elizabeth glanced at her daughter in disbelief from her furious momentary outburst. But then she said, "You will not understand this but Mia, it is for your own good. That man is not what or who you think him to be. Please stay away from him." She repeated again while emphasizing the words for her to stay away from him without explaining to her why she should.
"Mom, but_"
"Hush, Mia. Don’t argue with me. I will be taking you back home today. And since you have this semester’s holiday from the University, I want us to leave Zen for the holidays. We have some distant relatives I would like you to meet. Haven’t you always been curious on meeting our relatives?" She asked gently as she pulled Mia back to sit down while tenderly stroking her cheeks. "You’ve always asked me about our other relatives and now I will fulfill your desires to meet them." By taking you away from Zen forever. She added internally.

Upon Mia’s return home, her mother instructed her to start packing as they would be leaving the next day. Although Mia believed it was too soon, she didn’t argue because she could sense her mother’s burden, even though she wasn’t being forthright about it. Mia had been repeatedly trying to question her mother about what happened to her and how she acquired those bruises, but her mother consistently changed the subject, avoiding an answer.
Despite being asked to pack her belongings, Mia neglected to do so. Instead, she sat on the sofa in front of her window, holding the guitar Neil had given her. Subconsciously, she strummed the strings while her mind wandered to numerous thoughts. She remembered when they first moved to Whispering Way, she would always ask about their other relatives. But her mother always stated that they lived far away from Zen, and Mia had yearned to know more about them because she wanted a cousin to play with.
However, now that she no longer cared about knowing them, her mother was taking her to meet them while also warning her to stay away from a man whom she had started developing feelings for. Although she had promised her mother to keep her distance from him, Mia had never intended to fulfill that promise. She had only said it to alleviate her mother’s worries, even though Leo posed no threat to her.
Thinking about him now, Mia longed to see him once more. Without hesitation, she jumped off the sofa and grabbed her bag where she had tucked away the card he gave her yesterday. She took it out and saw the address written on it. She had never been to the location written on the card but she had heard of the place, where it was known among the elites of Zen.
"Well, it’s a bit far from here but it’ll be worth it as long as I can see him." Mia muttered to herself with a small smile appearing on her face.
She promptly changed her attire in order to leave on time before her mother returned from her shopping trip. Instead of her usual T-shirt and jeans, Mia opted for a dress. Although she couldn’t fully understand why she was changing out of her comfortable clothes, she had a gut feeling. She wanted to dress to impress him, as she had come to accept that she liked him more than she initially thought. He wasn’t the man of her dreams, but he was everything she wanted.
Once Mia finished putting on the dark blue sleeveless dress that her mother had given her as a birthday present, she was taken aback by the result. The dress looked beautiful on her, which was something she didn’t often appreciate. It fell just an inch above her knees, with a tight waistline accentuating her slim figure. The skirt of the dress was flared.
The low V-shaped neckline showcased her bosom, adding a touch of allure to the overall look. It was a stunning dress, and she couldn’t understand why she hadn’t worn it before. However, her gaze landed on the neckline, and she immediately remembered why she had never worn it; because it revealed the swell of her breasts. Nevertheless, she made the decision to wear it today in order to impress the person she liked.
But then on a second thought, she put on a jacket in other not to draw attention to herself. She would take it off once she arrived at her destination. She decided. Then kept a message to her mom that she would be back in the evening as she would be going to Rayne to tell her about their traveling plans.
When Mia left their apartment building, she was grateful that the hallways were cleared with no one around. She made her way straight to the main road where she would be taking a cab. However, as she walked, she was completely unaware of the men hiding in the shadows keeping a close eye on their building.
Mia stopped the cab and told the driver where she was going. An hour later, the driver stopped in front of a magnificent mansion with iron gates. She climbed down the cab while looking at the mansion in wonderment. She couldn’t help but doubt if this was the right place. Nonetheless the building was the only one around this location, which meant it could only be the place.
Before Mia could tell the cab driver to wait for her to confirm inside, he had drove off leaving her alone there.
"I hope I came to the right location otherwise I will be forced to walk down this long desserted road to find another cab." She muttered to herself as she walked towards the iron gate that was left slightly ajar. When she entered inside the building, she saw cars parked outside it as if there were many people inside the mansion. She looked around to see if she would find a security, but there was none. Thus, she approached the main entrance of the modern mansion that would be fit for a politician if only they were securities.
When Mia pressed the bell button beside the door, she heard it ring from the inside. However, She had to ring it a few more times before she heard the click of the door from the inside. When the door opened, she was surprised to see that it was a woman who opened the door of the house. A very beautiful woman with short sunset hair. Her hazel eyes were sharp and mesmerizing. In short, she was one of the most beautiful women Mia had ever set her eyes on.
However, before Mia could speak, she watched as she woman’s face hardened as she glared at her from head to toe, making Mia feel inferior under her intense gaze.
"You must be Mia Harrison." It was more of a statement than a question.
Mia frowned, "How do you know who I am?" Mia asked in disbelief as she had never seen this woman anywhere before.
"Of course I know who you are. My fiancee told me about you. Aren’t you here because he told you to come?" Asked the woman, who was none other than Davina.
