Chapter 128: Wedding Preparation
Brie was so happy that she immediately called Lucas.
"What? It’s already twelve midnight." Lucas said annoyed.
"Lucas, mom and dad will get married in a week. And mom said she would not work during weekends so we can go out as a family."
Lucas smiled on the other line. His call went well. He thought to himself.
"Congratulations. Can I sleep now?"
"W–Wait! Mom and dad said I’m the flower girl. I want you to be my escort."
He frowned. "I’m twelve, not six."
"But I want you to be with me on my parents’ wedding." She insisted.
Lucas sighed in surrender. "Fine. Now, can I go to bed?"
"Yes. Goodnight, Lucas."
He found herself smiling after talking with Brie. She was a bit annoying, but for some reason, he would always ended up smiling because of her.
The wedding of Andrew Cross and Katherina Sommers were announced on the news by Carter Media. Nina’s colleagues congratulated her and prepared a small party.
"Nina, congratulations!" Lory greeted her.
"Thank you. It’s been two years late anyway." She chuckled.
"Why? We actually thought the proposal was just a—"
Nina frowned. "How did you know about the proposal?"
Lory bit her lip. "Nina, I’m—"
"Wait, you’re the one who leaked the photos? Oh my! It makes sense!"
Lory shook her head. "Nina, I’m sorry. Honestly, my sister was one of the servers during Andrew’s proposal. I begged her to take one photo."
"Why did you do that?" She asked.
"Our company was on the verge of bankruptcy. We needed something that will boost our competence and reliability. Something that will trend. I’m really sorry, Nina."
If she didn’t know about Carter Media’s struggle, she wouldn’t believe Lory. But for the past two years, she learned that if you want to survive in this industry, you would do everything just to get something.
She sighed deeply. "It’s in the past and thanks to you, I was able to learn what I can do."
For some reason, she was relieved that it was Lory. They actually thought that it was someone from the mafia again.
She only got a week to prepare for the wedding, but she was thankful that her friends were there to help her.
When she married James, no one was there. Her family and her friends weren’t there because of her decision to deceived them. Remembering the years she spent with the Santelmo made her emotional.
"What’s wrong?" Peggy asked.
They were at Queens, talking about the wedding when her friends noticed about her silence.
"I was just happy that you’re all here. Really, I’m happy." Tears fell from her cheeks.
"Oh... Don’t cry. Forget about the past. What important is the present and your future with Andrew and Brie." Sophie smiled.
She nodded. "Thank you. For giving me another chance and for trusting me again."
Alora stared at her and she was surprised to see some glitter in her eyes.
"Alora, you’re crying?" She asked.
"Am I?" Alora asked, confused.
Emily tapped Alora’s hand. "Hey, that’s tears of joy. You’re glad that everything went well. Nina is important to you so you want her to be happy, right?"
Alora nodded. "Yeah. I guess."
Alora had been in therapy with Kyle, the King of Flousia and also a psychiatrist. Her emotions had improved for the past years and this was the first time Alora shed a tear.
"I think everything’s fine now, right?" She asked.
She was referring to the mafia. Specifically, Benjamin Miller.
"They haven’t found him yet. Luke thinks that they are lying low and we don’t know when will they strike again." Peggy answered.
"But for now, we’re fine. The royal guards and Luke’s security joined forces to protect everyone, especially the kids." Emily said.
She nodded. "I talked to James because he’s been trying to track Benjamin, but he couldn’t find him."
Alora clicked her tongue. "Don’t worry for now. You need to prepare for your wedding. Let’s go and check the venue. I don’t want to hear anything about Benjamin Miller."
Even though her friends told her not to worry, she couldn’t help it. What if on her wedding, something bad happen like what happened in Flousia.
She took a deep breath and tried her best not to think of anything else, but the wedding.
They went to the newly opened hotel owned by Emily—the Royalty Hotel. The main event hall was the grandest of all the venues they had visited and could occupy up to one thousand guests.
Nina fell in love with the carpeted floors, the huge chandeliers on the ceiling, and the intricate carvings on the huge windows.
"Emily how much would it cost us to book this place?" She asked, making Emily laugh.
"This is free for you, dear. You don’t need to worry. Also, we will sponsor the food. We know you and Andrew can afford it, but we insist."
She smiled. "Thank you. Then I guess it’s settled. I’m just going to hire an event stylist, a wedding event planner and coordinator."
"Then we should go to our next appointment. Gown fitting." Sophie smiled with excitement.
Their next stop was the Royal Fashion Boutique. It was a clothing shop owned by Alora’s sister who was also the owner of Azalea.
Alora’s sister closed the shop for them so they could try all the gowns without distraction.
The staffs took out the new collection and it was all designed meticulously by Aurora Smith.
"Try that one." Alora pointed at the wedding gown on the third row.
It was a white tube top with a flowy a-line bottom. The back had a longer trail embellished with Swarovski crystals. For Nina, it was love at first sight.
The flower laced top glittered because of the Swarovski crystals perfectly placed on the dress. She tried it on and showed it to her friends.
"What do you think?" She gasped.
"It’s perfect." Peggy smiled.
Everything was already prepared. But she was still thinking about the possibility that something would happen during the wedding.
