Chapter 126: Parenting

"I think you should talk to Luke." Nina said.

She went to their bedroom after taking Brie to sleep. She was worried about her daughter when she insisted to marry Lucas in the future.

"And what would I tell him? To tell Lucas to stay away from Brie?" Andrew stared at her.

She sighed. "Andrew, this is not funny."

"I’m not laughing."

"But you did earlier." She pouted.

"That’s because I was surprised. I didn’t expect Brie to ask Lucas about marriage."

"And that’s the reason you should talk to Luke."

Andrew took a deep sigh. "Love, it’s our daughter who asked his son to marry her. It would be embarrassing to have a meeting because of that."

"Aren’t you worried? She’s only five and she’s already thinking about marriage."

"Maybe it’s just a crush. Maybe she’s just admiring Lucas. He’s her first friend. Besides, her future is secure if she marry him."

"Andrew!" She exclaimed.

Andrew laughed. "You’re so worried. Our daughter is smart. I can’t tell her to not like someone. I don’t want to do that."

Nina didn’t answer so Andrew pulled her into his arms.

"I’m sorry. I don’t know how to be a father to her. I want Brie to be happy and supporting her is one of my ways to show her how much I love her. She’s still young and it happens, right? When we were young we also had one person that we like most. Whether it’s someone from the opposite sex, we just like them more than anyone. And for Brie, it’s Lucas. Even as her parebts, it’s something that we have no control. But for your peace of mind, maybe I’ll talk to Lucas after I ask permission from Luke."

She nodded. "And what would you tell him?"

Andrew shrugged his shoulders. "I don’t know. Lucas is ten, but he’s a bit mature and strict from his age. Sometimes I feel like he’s too serious. Maybe because of the big responsibility he has in the future. He’s the heir to the biggest company in the country so who wouldn’t be, right?"

Nina remembered Alora’s words from earlier. Maybe that was what she meant from having someone she could trust with his son. She didn’t quite get it and had overreacted. Thinking back, maybe Alora wanted Lucas to still have a normal childhood and receiving a confession from someone was one of them.

"I think I need to apologize to Alora. I just realized what she said earlier. She was just being a good mother to Lucas. And like me, she’s worried of her son."

Andrew nodded. "Alora is hard to read because of her illness. She lacks emotions so it’s hard for her to put what’s in her heart in words. But that’s how she show concern to the people important to her."

"I know it now. I have to talk to her."

"Did you know that Lucas started his training as the heir of Wilson group a few weeks ago? The kid has been preparing for years and after the incident in Flousia, he also looks after Alira."

She felt a little guilty for the twins. It was her betrayal that led them to Alira’s trauma and she should never forget about it.

Andrew wrapped his arms around her when he felt her sudden guilt.

"That’s in the past. Don’t worry about it. I just want you to understand the situation of Lucas."

Andrew left home after their conversation to talk to Luke and Lucas. She changed her mind and asked him not to, but Andrew insisted.

Luke agreed to his request after telling him what happened. At first, he laughed about it because of the same opinion like his.

"I think it’s a good idea if they end up together. If we put aside the family names. I still like your daughter for my son."

"I think and feel the same, but in the end, the two of them will decide not us."

Andrew looked at Lucas when came inside his father’s office. The kid was wearing a black sweatshirt and black denim. His black hair and blue eyes like his father’s added a masculine side to him. He’s already that good-looking in that age. Andrew thought inwardly.

"How are you, Lucas?" He asked after Luke left them alone to talk.

"I’m fine." The kid answered.

He wasn’t sure why he felt a little intimadated with Lucas. He looked a lot like his father, but his aura and charisma overflowed even at a young age.

"I go straight to the point. Do you like Brie?"

He saw the kid frowned. "No."

A flat no. He thought.

"Why? She’s pretty and a genius. And she like you a lot."

"That’s not my problem. That doesn’t mean I have to like her the way she likes me."

"So you hate her? Is it because of what happened to your sister in Flousia?"

Lucas sighed. "I already put everything behind me. I don’t hate her because she’s my friend. But I’m not going to marry her if that’s what you want to know."

"Really? Are you sure you’re not going to change your min"

Lucas stared at him. "Uncle Andrew, aren’t you here to tell me to don’t mind your daughter? It looks like you are pushing her toward me. Aunt Nina won’t like it."

He wanted to scold the kid. But he had a point. He was like a father who was selling his daughter to a rich family.

"But I decided to let her stay by my side."

He was surprised by what Lucas said. What made him change his mind? He thought inwardly.

"Brie cried when I told her I’m not going to marry her. I felt sad so I don’t want to see her cry again. Uncle Andrew, I promise I will take care of her like how I protect Alira. Until she finds the right man for her, she’s allowed to stay by my side."

Andrew smiled. He felt glad that Brie chose a great guy to be her husband. Lucas might not have the same feelings as Brie, but he wished that someday it would change.

For now, he would be rooting and supporting Brie to get the man of her dreams.
