Valtar dismissed the notification. He did not need the system to tell him to swallow it, he was having the urge to do the same without anyone needing to tell him. So, he did exactly that, and just as he did so...

Valtar was pleasantly surprised he did not expect to gain so many things from this weak wolf’s core. Then he clicked on the skill option to see more details.

The amount of time they are unable to move depends on the targeted being’s strength and number. Depending on the amount of Mystic Energy expended the range and power will increase according to the Host’s desire.]

Valtar was surprised, this was the first time there was any mention of the uses of Mystic Energy. But how? For some reason, he was simply unable to manipulate this energy or even use it. It said depending on the amount of mystic energy invested, then how exactly would he even invest that energy into the skill?

He let out a sigh, he truly needed to get out of this damn forest as soon as possible. The shit he was eating to survive and how miserably he was sleeping for such short amounts of time is slowly taking a toll on him. He needed to sleep in a comfortable bed, have good food, and sleep for at least a week straight after he got out. Just thinking about it made his mind tired. After taking a deep breath he erased all unnecessary thoughts.

The skill seems to be quite good regardless and now he even understood the reason why the Ghostbounds were able to break of the Wolfs howl even before him and why it did not work on him when he was in the sky.

The ghostbounds were not living beings, they were basically ghosts wearing human skin. As such they do not have shadows. Thus, they cannot be bound by their own shadow. Well, technically the bodies they are possessing have shadows but they are dead so it obviously doesn’t work.

Then all the Ghostbounds came in front of him with all the collected cores. 200 killed wolves, among them were 10 third-stage cores, 50 second-stage cores, and 140 first-stage cores.

"Damn, that’s a lot." thought Valtar.

Since these are all useless to him, they need to be devoured by the ghostbounds which will increase their strength. He commanded all ghostbounds to swallow all the cores corresponding to their levels, he divided the numbers among them equally, and extra ones were given to the strongest in that particular level.

All of them swallowed their given cores all at once with an inhumane expression without hesitation. Valtar could feel all of their strength increasing rapidly. Some of the First stage ones even advanced to the next stage directly. The system assured him that their stats had increased. When he requested the system to show him the stats of each, it refused and said that he did not have that authority yet.

Valtar then looked at the body of the wolf, he wondered if he should let the Ghost possess it and use it as a mount but then a better idea came into his mind. He with his ghostbounds moved 500-600 meters away from the location of the battle and waited there patiently, keeping an eye on the place where the Alpha wolf’s corpse and the bodies of all the wolves lay drenched in grey blood.

Their fight was definitely loud enough to alert all the other strong territorial beasts nearby, then there were the bodies that would attract the other strong beasts through the smell of their blood. Why would he go around hunting all the beasts when they would be the ones to come to him? He simply needed to wait.

And that’s what he did along with his ghostbounds, he simply closed his eyes and leaned close to the tree. He wasn’t sleeping, just letting his mind rest without thinking about anything much, and ordered the ghostbounds to protect, he also told the system to wake him when the time was right.

The system responds in a cryptic tone [Do you think I am an alarm clock?]

Valtar nodded matter-of-factly, "Yes, I think you are, and a very good one at that."

Then he simply closed his eyes to let his mind rest without letting the system reply.

After about 30 minutes had passed.

Some small beasts of unknown shape and origin were feasting on the corpses of all the shadow wolves that were killed, they were mainly feasting on the first or second stage awakened beasts. None of the small beast dared to feast on the third-stage wolves bodies, because just their meat and blood contained too much which cannot be withstood by low level animals and they will simply explode.

However, just at this moment, the ground visibly shook. The small animals quavered in fear. They all looked in the far distance, from one direction in far, it could be seen that countless snake-like beings were slithering through the grounds at an astonishing speed, the snakes were very large as well, and the smallest snakes in that horde were at least 2 meters long. There were so many of them that it was hard to count and the largest one among them was above 20 meters in length and is clearly at the stage of a Pathwalker.

Then from another direction was a hoard of tiger-like creatures also coming at a very high speed. There were slightly whitish stripes on their bodies. Just like how an Earth tiger would have looked but the difference was in color and size as well as ferocity. Unlike the snake leader of the horde, it was not as large as it should be rather its stripes were completely black unlike all the other tigers in the horde which had slightly whitish stripes on their gray-colored body. The leading tiger also had a strange crown-like structure above its head which easily made it stand out from the rest. Not to mention its ferocious might was quite obvious to see for pretty much anyone.

These 2 were not the only ones aiming for the corpses. Another horde was also coming straight towards it, Which seemed a large horde of Gorilla like creatures. Their movement and stances were in the similar manner as gorillas, however faces looked slightly different and there 2 small horns protruding out of their foreheads.

The leading gorilla had 3 small horns instead of 2, Its size was colossal, to say the least. It was far bigger than the snake. The small animals feasting on the bodies of the wolves all trembled in fright and ran away in all directions.

Rumble...!!!!!

Loud noises of ground shaking could be heard at the enormous marching of the powerful beasts in the forest. But what could be the reason for all these powerful beasts with all their minions to rush to this location like this?

It was obviously for the body of the Alpha that stood as one of the most powerful beasts of the forest alongside the Shadow Snake, Shadow Tiger as well as the Shadow Gorilla. They all wanted the ’Material crystal’ in the Alpha wolf’s body, if one of them were to consume it, they would grow considerably stronger which in turn would make them the undisputed king of the forest not to mention its body and the bodies of all the other wolves eating which would be beneficial to their own minions.

Though they did not know what exactly killed the Alpha and all the other wolves, they were all arrogant in their own rights.

At this very moment system awoke Valtar,

Valtar opened his eyes abruptly, he rubbed his eyelids in slight laziness. He wanted to sleep a bit more but it was a luxury he couldn’t afford now. He got up, and noticed the ground was trembling. Valtar jumped into the tree branch and climbed higher and higher, the ghostbounds followed.

His eyes slightly widened seeing the unbelievably large horde of beasts coming from the three directions. The snake horde, The tiger horde, and the Gorilla horde. The Gorilla was undoubtedly the largest and probably the strongest. Valtar realized The wolf he faced was likely a lot weaker compared to it without a doubt.

The gorilla was jumping through the ground at large distances, each of its jumps caused it to close a distance of more than 50 meters at once. It definitely would be the first to reach the body of the wolf, they were all obviously after the Material crystal, Valtar figured.

He was deep in thought about what to do, he truly did not expect there to be more than 2 beasts in the Pathwalker stage in this area. No wonder the dark elves first targeted the Eastern Tribe. The Snake horde was the largest in number with more than 500+ snakes or even more. The tiger horde was the most agile and nimble as well as with great speed, their numbers hovered around 400. The gorilla horde was the strongest but with smaller numbers of 300, however, because of their great strength, they were able to jump longer distances, if not for that the tiger horde would have been the first ones to reach the corpses.
