Chapter 56: Territorial Beast War Part-2

The three hordes were almost close to the dead bodies of the wolves, just when the shadow gorilla was about 60-70 meters in distance....

"THUMP-THUMP-THUMP! OOOH-OOH-AAAAARRR!"

It beat its chest loudly and screamed aloud shaking all the surroundings, it made a huge jump intending to close all that distance at once and leave the smaller gorillas slightly behind. It was determined to get the crystal first, as for the bodies, that can be fought for later. Especially since it could not detect the presence of any enemy, while the beasts on the level of a pathwalker are indeed quite intelligent but it is not to the point where they can ignore their own greed and think logically.

After all, if someone or something killed the Alpha wolf it should have taken the crystal of it. But their eyes were blinded by greed and they did not think of this simple matter. Seeing the large jump the gorilla made other 2 beast leaders also became agitated, the tiger activated a ability to increase its speed and dashed forward.

Unfortunately, the snake did not have any of such skills, which could let it close the distance and it simply hissed loudly in order to threaten the other two but they obviously turned a deaf ear to the empty threat.

In the end, the Shadow tiger’s speed was too fast as it reached the body of the Alpha first, but its pupils dilated and it growled in frustration seeing there was no crystal. Then it sensed danger as the gorilla was about to land on top of it. The Gorilla roared furiously at the tiger that reached the place first, it thought that the tiger had already stolen the crystal and then ran away.

A loud explosion occurred at that place but the tiger had already slipped away from the danger. The gorilla furiously attacked the tiger but it was too fast for him to catch. What’s the point of having enormous strength if you cannot hit your target? That’s exactly what was happening here. It only took a few more seconds for the giant snake to reach the place and it also did not think about anything and swung its tail like an enormous whip which was about to crash onto the large back of the gorilla since it was too focused on catching the slippery tiger.

But its danger sense kicked in and warned him in the last moments as it barely dodged the powerful tail swing of the venomous shadow snake. All the beast leaders stood in a triangular format, each of them looking at its adversaries with a vicious expression.

The snake hissed, SSSSSSAAAAA!

The tiger roared, RRRAAAAWWWWWW!

The Gorilla screamed, HUUUUUMMMM-OOAAARRR!

The tiger growled continuously and signaled the other two towards the corpse of the Alpha, The Gorilla and the Snake also looked noticing something wrong. Only now did they realize that the residual energy was too low, if the crystal was really taken by the tiger they would’ve sensed it even if it was inside of its body. But they could not sense it? Only then did the gorilla calm down. It also began to make strange noises saying to the snake that the one who killed them definitely took away the crystal.

The snake understanding the situation thought of an idea, It proposed a temporary alliance to first find the thing that killed the Alpha, If it was strong enough to kill the Alpha so easily then any of them could fall as well. Thus, working together to kill the unknown enemy was indeed the best choice. The others thought deeply for a moment and realized it was indeed the best course of action at the moment.

However just at that moment all of their expressions abruptly changed noticing something in the sky. Something was coming down at them like a shooting star falling from the sky. All 3 of them rectified their stances at the unexpected turn of events and they were ready to face the enemy from above while they ordered all of the beasts under them to back off a considerable distance, otherwise, they would simply die unnecessarily.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!

With a powerful explosion, the unknown thing landed right in the middle of them as a large crater of 30 meters long formed on the ground. Dust flew everywhere making anyone unable to see anything. But the 3 beast leaders clearly saw the silhouette of a humanoid figure right before it crashed into the middle of them. All three of them squinted their eyes, the dust slowly cleared but they did not need the dust to completely clear and could see already.

But what they saw gave them an ominous feeling instead. Dark jade-like skin, eyes blood red with a strange pattern in them. An extremely evil and sinister smile plastered on the face of the old Dark elf’s face, yet somehow it looked very artificial and forced as if it was dead.

Their instincts automatically kicked in seeing that pattern in the eye of the Dark elf that just landed from the sky and they involuntarily backed away not knowing why. Even the arrogant and powerful shadow gorilla was no exception. But the next moment anger surged inside of them and they all growled, the damn dark elf in front of them was clearly a 3rd stage-awakened being, yet it caused fear in them?

"Preposterous...." they all thought simultaneously.

However a strange glint of suspicion flashed through the Eyes of the Giant Snake, It made no sense for a being at a pitifully low power level like that to be able to kill the Alpha. Even if it was a Dark elf with deadly combat ability. Then what could it be? An ambush?

’A distraction.....?’ The snake’s eyes widened at the realization and it moved its large head at an extremely high speed toward the sky at the same angle this elf came from. The snake’s eyes narrowed and it could indeed see many dots in the sky flying towards them, It was unable to count how many but it was not too many yet the bad feeling it was having only increased by the second.

Noticing the abnormal behavior of the Snake, the tiger growled and said something. The Gorilla simply tilted its head upward to look at what the snake was looking at. It also showed a similar surprised expression on its face. They did not know that this was exactly what their enemy was looking for. The Ghostbound of the First Elder that landed in the middle of the 3 beast leaders used his dark step and disappeared towards the direction of the snake’s horde 50-60 meters behind the Large Snake.

The Shadow tiger noticing this, growled at it and jumped onto the First elders figure who suddenly made the move but it did not put too much effort into capturing it. This, allowed the ghostbound to escape because it was not going towards its own horde, and the fact that it was only at the third-stage awakened level was not much of a threat nor did the tiger care. The Large Shadow Snake also noticed this a moment too late and hissed towards the tiger in anger but it did not do anything more. The snake turned its head slightly and seeing the dark elf already enter inside of its horde, it gave a low screech which was an order to the other stronger snakes inside of its horde telling them to kill the damn elf as soon as possible. After that, they did not pay any more attention to this as the dots in the sky were almost upon them and this time they did not miss the chance what exactly the things were.

More dark elves? All three beast leaders looked at each other and understood each other’s intent. They all readied their attacks intending to crush all 37 ants directly since they could not sense any being on a similar level to theirs, only those on a lower power level among the dark elves were falling from the sky. As for the reason how and why they were falling from the skies and from where? The beasts did not understand nor did they care much.

The Snake readied its tail to swat the elves like flies, The Tiger readied its claws to tear them apart and Gorilla readied its fist to smash into meat paste. The moment the 37 elves were about to crash onto the bodies of the 3 large shadow beasts. Their bodies moved at a strange angle in mid-air and all of them used the Dark Step movement in such a way that none of their attacks hurt the ghostbounds as they simply latched onto their bodies like worms or to be precise they only latched onto the bodies of the Large Snake and the Large Gorilla.

The shadow tiger was dumbfounded, why did not a single one come towards it? It did not understand. It looked towards the snake and the gorilla both were almost jumping around to get rid of the dark elves that were dancing around on both of their bodies, yet they were unable to get them off due to their enormous sizes.

The Tiger could not help but sneer in its heart, It always felt slightly inferior in its heart because of its small stature unlike its adversaries who were all extremely large, even the now dead Alpha shadow wolf was bigger than it as well. But now seeing how their large body was the reason for their frustration, filled its heart with a momentary satisfaction.
