Chapter 54: Different Type

Chapter 54: Different Type

Letting the Ghost possess the Alpha wolf is definitely a good idea and the beast could serve as a good mount. However, another doubt surfaced in his mind.

Valtar till now only faced one Pathwalker who was Hansel, he had the Dark crystal in his body which is the 2nd part of the legacy of this forest. Then what kind of core or crystal would be inside of a normal Pathwalker being. He was curious. He made his decision after checking that core, he would use the dead body as a mount.

Not that he needed a mount in the first place considering how fast he himself was, so the mount would make him look cool nothing more, nothing less.

He then diverted his attention to the battle that was taking place, or rather the one sided slaughter by his Ghostbounds.

The constant sound of metal piercing through flesh could be heard non-stop. Some wolves would try to block the weapons with their sharp teeth and claws, but how could beasts stand against the deadly maneuverability of the Dark elves? Even if they did block it with claws or sharp teeth, they would receive a powerful punch or kick in return, sending them flying and injuring the wolf internally.

Another minute had passed and now there were barely 100 wolves left. However, these seem to be stronger and slightly troublesome to deal with compared to the already dead ones. But not too difficult. Not all the dark elves had engaged in combat. Well, there was only one who kept himself hidden. It was the Ghostbound of the First Elder. This one seems to possess greater intelligence compared to the others.

Valtar smiled, considering the fact that First elder at that time was able to fight against more than 30 of his tribe members simultaneously, this battle would have already been over if he joined the fray. Seems like he is keeping himself hidden, intending to face the Alpha wolf or ambushing it. It would be nice he alone could face the Alpha and take care of it. Unfortunately, it seems unlikely.

The gray-looking blood of the countless slaughtered wolves dyed the ground black. The smell was also different from the usual smell of blood which is filled with iron or metallic taste. Some of the first-stage ghostbounds seemed to be slightly injured, yet it did not bother them and they continued their own battles like death machines knowing nothing but killing relentlessly.

By this time the Alpha was getting agitated, he did not expect the enemy minions to be so strong to kill so many of his strong wolves despite being outnumbered so much. He had no choice but to try and take out their leader since things have come to this. He wanted to go and kill the minions of the human first but he understood that the moment he stepped forward the human would also intervene. He could not let any more of his wolves die like that.

If any more of them died then even if he managed to win and survive, other territories beasts would attack him and it would not be able to defend its territory and might even be killed at that time. It growled furiously at the human showing its deadly fangs and releasing it’s killing intent.

Awhoooooooooooooooooooo!!!

A strange and terrifying howl sounded from the Alpha, Valtar noticed something wrong. It was a howl different from its usual howls. The moment the howl sounded he could feel his body being held by something, not letting him move for a moment. Valtar immediately utilized his darkness element and shook off the binding forve in a fraction of a second.

The Alpha seems to be rushing at him full speed, it was probably intending to catch him in the unmoving state and simply finish him off in one fell Swoop. To its dismay, it did not take more than 1 second totally for Valtar to shake off such ability. But there was another problem, The ghostbounds seemed to have suffered from the same effect, and to his surprise, all the ghostbounds were also able to free themselves from the binding effect in less than 1 second.

Valtar was confused about how they did even faster than himself.

Unfortunately, he did not have too much time in his hand to focus on that particular detail, but just as Valtar was about to confront the Wolf, something shot out from the darkness of the shadow at an impossible speed, aiming its sword directly at the neck of the deadly wolf. Valtar almost forgot about the First Elder who was hiding within the darkness and keeping his presence hidden throughout the battle.

Because the wolf was shadow creature of considerable strength it also had very good perception of the shadows. For that reason even the smallest movement would cause some shadow to stir, which was a signal bright as day for the stronger shadow creatures to notice any movement in the shortest amount of time.

Thus, the alpha also noticed a silhouette aiming to take its life coming out of nowhere in a fraction of a moment. Noticing it was impossible to avoid that attack in such a short distance and time, it simply swayed its body to another angle to not take the full brunt of the attack that may injure it seriously.

Swosh....!!!

Sleeekkkkkkkk!!

The sound of a sword cutting through the air at an intense speed could be heard and then in the next moment, the flesh-cutting sound resounded everywhere. Valtar squinted his eyes and saw a large cut on the neck of the wolf which seemed to be dripping blood. The flesh of the wolf seems to be very tough, it’s also healing at a visible speed.

He silently ordered the Ghostbound of the first elder to move away and join that battle to finish off the wolves, then collect the cores.

He would be the one to take care of the wolf. The Alpha glared at the wretch that attacked it viciously, but seeing that it simply went away and joined the other fight it understood the human would be the one to face him. It also noticed that the thing that ambushed him was also very strong. If he did not finish the opposite parties leader fast enough, many of his underlings will die.

Both the Alpha and Valtar’s eyes met, no more words were needed both reached the middle in an instant. Valtar did not use any weapons this time, this time he was going to fight barehanded. The claw of the large wolf met with Valtar’s powerful punch.

Bang.............!

A powerful bang resounded at the point of collision. Everything around them was pushed back because of the residual impact of the force. To the wolf’s surprised eyes. It was pushed backward more than 10 feet, its claws became bloody and he felt numb there. While the human hand was totally unharmed. The human did not take a single step back from where the attack happened.

Valtar kicked the ground with a good amount of power which propelled him high in the sky. He maneuvered his body in mid-air in a way to land a good punch on the large wolf. The wolf let out its binding howl again. But this time it didn’t even take effect on him as he punched down with an immense amount of force directly at the face of the wolf.

Boooooom!!!!!!!

A destructive sound was heard which uprooted all the plants and animals nearby. The shockwave of this spread far and wide. Enough to alert all the powerful inhabitants of this area of the forest. However, far in one corner of the forest, something deep and old awoke, an abomination!!! That should not have been disturbed.

Skreeeeeeeeeechhhh!!!!!!!

The being let out a terrifying screech in annoyance and anger at those who dared to disturb its slumber. However, in the next moments, it went to sleep again abruptly.

A large crater formed beneath and because of the huge force of the attack dust was flying everywhere, for a moment it was difficult for him to see. After a few moments, when the dust cleared he was able to see and as expected the forehead of the wolf had caved in from the force of his punch, so it was dead. He walked forward slowly.

In the meantime, after the ghostbound of the First Elder joined the fray it did not take them more than a minute to finish of all the wolves. The powerful punch of their master caused a large shockwave which caused them all to lose balance for a moment and they got up like nothing happened, then simply proceeded to collect all the cores of the awakened beasts.

Valtar slowly bent down and pulled out his sword from his sheath which was on his back. Cut a certain section and he found a crystal. Just as expected, it was something different from the Dark crystal that he got from Hansel. The dark crystal was totally dark and it gave off the feeling of extreme cold, while this one was in the shape of a crystal with rough edges but had the outer layer just as transparent as the cores. Inside of it was that shadow-like liquid that seemed to be moving slightly like waves. And there was a strange depth to it, unlike the cores.
