The thought alone made Wei Zheming shudder. There was no way he would let Xiao Wu become his sister, that would make his feelings an impossible taboo.

After taking a brief rest, he returned to his work. But before long, his phone rang unexpectedly. Seeing an unknown number, he frowned and answered, "Hello."

"Hello, is this Mr. Wei Zheming?"

"Yes. Who is calling?"

"Mr. Wei, this is the Criminal Investigation Department. We are calling to inform you that Feng Bohai was found dead in his cell this morning."

"What?!" Wei Zheming exclaimed, standing up abruptly.

"Wasn’t he under strict supervision? How could he suddenly die?" he asked.

"We are still investigating the cause of death," the officer replied.

"The evidence at the scene points to suicide, but we can’t rule out the possibility of murder since he was an important witness."

The officer added, "We also discovered that Feng Bohai had an adopted daughter named Xing Xiayan. When we visited her residence, it was vacant, and she seems to have retired completely from the entertainment industry. If you have any information about her whereabouts, it would be greatly helpful."

Wei Zheming took a deep breath to compose himself before replying, "The last I heard, she had gone abroad. I don’t have any other information."

"Understood. Thank you for your cooperation, Mr. Wei," the officer said before ending the call.

Once the call ended, Wei Zheming immediately dialed Feng Zhexuan’s number. After a few rings, the call connected.

"Hello, Zheming," Feng Zhexuan greeted.

"Zhexuan, Feng Bohai was found dead in his cell this morning," Wei Zheming said.

"Mm, I know. My cousin called me about it. Looks like another lead has been cut off," Feng Zhexuan sighed.

Massaging his temples, Wei Zheming asked, "Zhexuan, are you sure you want to keep digging into this case? You have already avenged your parents and yourself. Maybe it’s time to let it go. This isn’t just about taking down Feng Bohai anymore—it’s gotten much more complicated."

Hearing this, Feng Zhexuan sighed and said, "I know. My cousin discovered a Sacred Order tattoo on Feng Bohai’s body."

Wei Zheming went silent for a moment before asking, "What’s your next move, then?"

"I have decided to let it go. I have a family now, and I can’t risk putting my wife and unborn child in danger."

Wei Zheming froze the moment he heard his words. After a while, he asked, "Wait—Sister-in-law is pregnant?"

"Mm-hmm."

"So, you are going to be a father?" he asked again.

"Mm-hmm."

After a brief pause, Wei Zheming burst out laughing and congratulated him, "Congratulations, buddy! You are going to be a father!"

Feng Zhexuan chuckled at his friend’s enthusiasm and said, "And you are going to be an uncle."

"No way—I want to be the godfather! Remember our promise back then?" Wei Zheming asked.

Recalling their promises when they were young, Feng Zhexuan refused outright, "Not this time. You can name the second one."

"Why not this one?" Wei Zheming asked unhappily.

"My wife has already chosen the name. You will just have to wait for the next one," Feng Zhexuan said, his joy evident in his voice.

With a dramatic sigh, Wei Zheming conceded, "Fine. By the way, the projects here will be completed in a month or two. Once I hand everything over to the new CEO, I will head back to the capital."

"Alright. Thanks for all your hard work, Zheming," Feng Zhexuan said sincerely.

"Just don’t forget to pay me for all this overtime," Wei Zheming teased.

Laughing at his words, Feng Zhexuan replied, "No problem. Your year-end bonus will be doubled."

"Thank you, boss!"

In the capital, Feng Zhexuan looked at his wife after hanging up the call and said, "Wife, I need to go back to the company. If you need anything, just give me a call."

"Okay, don’t worry about me," Yan Yuling nodded.

After kissing his wife, Feng Zhexuan left the house and returned to the company. Since his wife was experiencing morning sickness, he made a point to check on her every day during lunch break.

Although his wife refused, saying it was too troublesome, he still insisted. After all, their house was near the company, so it didn’t take long for him to travel back and forth.

Not long after he left in his car, a group of men walked out of the neighboring house and climbed the back wall of the house with trained moves. Unlike their home in Haicheng, the houses in the capital were close to each other, no matter how expensive or elite the compound was.

Because of this, it was difficult to guard against people with bad intentions, even though Feng Zhexuan had hired bodyguards for his wife.

As for the security of the compound, they couldn’t forbid the owners of the houses from entering. This group of men managed to enter the compound not only because they had someone who could hack into the security system, but also because they rented a house next to Feng Zhexuan’s house.

Since it was daytime, the bodyguards were taking turns to rest and have lunch, leaving only two guards to monitor the front and back of the house.

When one of the bodyguards heard something in the bushes, he walked over to investigate. But before he could reach the bushes, he felt something sting his neck. The next second, dizziness took over, and he collapsed to the ground with a thud.

After hiding the bodyguard behind the bushes, the group of men attacked the other guards one by one. One of the men took the bodyguards’ phones and undressed them, ensuring they wouldn’t be able to free themselves or contact anyone.

In less than twenty minutes, all four bodyguards were tied up and locked in the warehouse. Looking at his partner, one of the men asked, "Have you taken care of the CCTV?"

A man with glasses nodded and said, "It’s done."

"Good. Let’s finish this job as soon as possible and get out of here."
