Chapter 283: A Madman ( 3 )

Chapter 283: A Madman ( 3 )

Bishop stood up, looming over the fallen man. Looking down at him, he said coldly, "I’m someone who watched her struggle against the world to protect her son. I’m someone who saw her throw away her dignity, crawling on the ground to raise him."

"I’m someone who witnessed her pushed to the brink by your wife, forced to end her own life just to give her son a chance to live." His voice grew colder with each word. "I’m the one who came to deliver your punishment."

"I’m the son of the woman whose life you destroyed and whose death was orchestrated by your wife," he finished icily.

Dr. James’ face froze in disbelief as he looked at his son. His trembling hands reached for the hem of Bishop’s trousers, but before he could touch him, Bishop stepped back and commanded, "Take him away and lock him in G13."

As he turned to leave, he added, "Burn everything. Leave no trace."

"Understood," his men replied in unison.

Dr. James’ lifeless eyes followed Bishop’s retreating figure. When he was dragged away, he didn’t resist. He let the men tie him up and cover his head with a sack as tears stained his face.

Sitting in the car, Bishop sent a message before gazing out the window, lost in thought.

Meanwhile, in Huaxia, Jian Yuan’s phone buzzed. A message popped up on the screen.

[ Boss, everything is done. ]

Reading it, Jian Yuan smiled and deleted the message. Without James Wright, there was only one person left who could restore the Gu couple’s memories. But, that person was harder to find than the most precious gem. After the alteration, he was the rightful heir of the Gu family in the Gu couple’s minds.

All that remained was dealing with Feng Zhexuan. Once that was done, he could leave the country with his Xiao Ling’er. Just imagining life with her brought a rare genuine, joyous smile to his face.

"Xiao Ling’er, wait for me," he muttered softly with a smile.

Under the guise of peaceful days, a storm brewed silently in the dark. In the blink of an eye, ten days passed.

Inside the VVIP ward of a private hospital in the capital, Feng Zhexuan, Yan Yuling, Jin Rongsan, and Grandpa Feng were seated on a couch while chatting, when they heard a faint groan from the bed.

Jin Rongsan quickly walked over to his son and saw him slowly open his eyes. Joy and relief filled his voice as he asked softly, "Zhiwen, can you hear me?"

After a moment, Jin Zhiwen’s heavy eyelids fluttered open. He saw his father’s concerned face and shifted his gaze to his daughter, son-in-law, and the elderly man.

"Yuling..." he called hoarsely.

Yan Yuling hurried to his side, holding his hand, and asked, "Father, I’m here. How are you feeling?"

Jin Zhiwen frowned slightly when he sensed a dull pain in his chest. He licked his lips before replying, "I’m alright."

While they spoke, Feng Zhexuan had already called the doctor. Soon, the attending physician arrived with a team of nurses.

The family stepped aside to let the doctor examine him. After a thorough check, the doctor asked, "Mr. Jin, do you feel any discomfort?"

"Just a little pain in my chest," Jin Zhiwen replied.

The doctor smiled reassuringly and said, "That’s normal. The swelling in the chest area will decrease over the next few weeks, and the pain will gradually subside."

"To ensure your recovery, we will continue observing your condition for a while longer. Remember to take your medication on time to reduce the risk of rejection. If you feel any discomfort or pain, please notify the nurse or me immediately."

"Thank you, doctor," Jin Zhiwen said with a nod.

After a brief conversation, the medical team left. Yan Yuling turned to her father, her expression full of concern, and said, "Father, you need to rest more so you can recover faster."

Jin Zhiwen smiled faintly but didn’t respond.

Noticing his fatigue, Yan Yuling placed a hand on her stomach and said, "Father, I have good news for you."

Jin Zhiwen looked at her with a questioning gaze.

"You are going to be a grandfather. I’m pregnant. It’s been five weeks already," she announced, her voice soft yet full of joy.

Jin Zhiwen stared at her, stunned by her sudden words. Slowly, a wide smile spread across his face. Gripping her hand tightly, he said hoarsely, "Good... That’s good."

"Father, you must get well soon so you can help us teach our child," Feng Zhexuan added.

"I will," Jin Zhiwen replied, his eyes brimming with hope.

With this newfound joy, his recovery progressed faster than the doctors had anticipated. A month later, he was discharged and returned home. Despite Jin Zhiwen’s protests, Jin Rongsan insisted on moving in with him to ensure his well-being.

While Feng Zhexuan was happily spending time with his wife and family, Wei Zheming practically looked like a walking corpse from pulling too much overtime and deprived of sleep.

Due to his heavy workload, Xiao Wu hadn’t gone to the capital to guard Yan Yuling. Instead, she was directly appointed as Wei Zheming’s assistant to help him manage the company’s affairs.

At that moment, Xiao Wu was holding a stack of documents as she hurried toward Wei Zheming’s office. Without knocking, she pushed open the door and announced, "Senior Brother, these are the documents you asked for."

Hearing her energetic voice, Wei Zheming glanced up from his work and said, "Leave them there."

Then, he handed her another stack of papers and said, "Send these to the respective departments before lunch."

Xiao Wu nodded as she took the documents, "Okay."

After she left, Wei Zheming pinched the bridge of his nose and let out a tired sigh. After so much overtime, the projects were almost complete. Once everything was settled, he could finally talk to her about their personal matters.

Thanks to his mother’s meddling, the girl he liked now treated him like a brother. Luckily, he had returned just in time to stop his mother from formally recognizing Xiao Wu as her foster daughter. Otherwise, he might have ended up eating his own sister.
