Chapter 281: A Madman ( 1 )

Compared to the 32% revenue from this mega project, 8% of Feiyu Corporation’s shares seemed far less valuable.

No one could understand what Feng Zhexuan was planning by making such a proposal, but Jian Yuan knew he wouldn’t act without a calculated benefit.

Choosing Feiyu Corporation’s shares over billions in revenue clearly indicated he intended to interfere in the company’s internal management.

Thinking about the current situation within the Gu family and Feiyu Corporation, Jian Yuan frowned deeply. He was confident that no one in his circle would dare betray him, so it seemed impossible for Feng Zhexuan to know about the internal struggle.

Was this a baited hook to lure the fish?

After a moment of contemplation, Jian Yuan still couldn’t decipher Feng Zhexuan’s true intentions. Since he couldn’t figure it out, he decided to wait and see.

With just 8% of the shares, even if Feng Zhexuan became a Feiyu Corporation shareholder, it wouldn’t give him the power to challenge Jian Yuan’s position as chairman.

Ten minutes passed before Feng Zhexuan broke the silence, "CEO Gu, have you given it any thought?"

Jian Yuan met his gaze and replied, "President Feng, I need to discuss this matter with the shareholders before providing an answer."

Nodding at his words, Feng Zhexuan smiled and said, "In that case, we can finalize the contract once you have made your decision. After all, I have plenty of time to wait—unlike CEO Gu."

Glancing at his watch, he stood up and added, "I still have another matter to attend to. Let’s arrange a follow-up meeting once you have an answer."

After he finished his words, he nodded politely to everyone in the room and left, followed by his assistant. Following their president’s lead, the legal team and project team of Feng Group exited the meeting room one by one.

Watching them leave, Feiyu Corporation’s project manager muttered angrily, "Feng Zhexuan must think we can’t find another partner, and now he is acting so arrogantly."

He turned to Jian Yuan and added, "CEO Gu, we can’t let him get those shares."

Jian Yuan glanced at him with a sneer and said, "If you are so capable, then go find another company with the same qualifications as Feng Group."

With that cutting remark, Jian Yuan stood and left the room without another word. The meeting had ended without a resolution, leaving him in a foul mood. And when Jian Yuan was in a bad mood, no one else could expect to feel good either.

After leaving the Feng Group’s headquarters, Jian Yuan and his team returned to the Huaxia branch of Feiyu Corporation. As soon as he entered his office, he dialed a number.

The call was answered in less than a minute, and a man’s voice came through the phone. "Hello, boss."

"How is the matter progressing?" Jian Yuan asked.

"Everything has been handled by Bishop. Boss, what should we do about James and his family?"

Recalling Feng Zhexuan’s confidence during the meeting, Jian Yuan narrowed his eyes and said coldly, "Clean them up. Leave no trace."

"Understood."

After hanging up, Jian Yuan looked out of the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing at the tiny cars on the road below.

From this high vantage point, he could see the clear sky, the vast horizon, and the bustling city. Yet all he felt was loneliness, darkness, and suffocation.

He longed for the carefree life he once had in the countryside and the little girl who used to follow him around, calling him "Brother Yuan" with her sweet, innocent voice.

To regain the only light in his life, he would pay any price. Even if it meant eliminating everyone in his way.

In Canada, under the dark night sky, a group of men led by a young man approached a villa in the suburbs. Each carried a barrel filled with an unknown liquid.

Inside the villa, a family of three huddled together in the living room, surrounded by another group of men armed with guns.

As the newcomers arrived, fear flashed in the old man’s eyes. Looking at the pale faces of his wife and daughter, he gritted his teeth and said, "W-when can my family and I leave this place?"

The young man leading the group took a seat across from him and replied meaningfully, "Dr. James, my boss will fulfill his promise. You will leave this place—eventually."

Noticing the strange tone in his voice, Dr. James stammered, "T-then... we will leave now. I don’t want the money anymore. I promise to never let anyone know about this matter."

He hurriedly pulled his family toward the door, but before they could take a step, several guns were pointed at them.

The young man smiled faintly and said, "Dr. James, what’s the rush? Please sit down. I haven’t finished speaking."

Though his tone was calm, his icy eyes made it clear he regarded them as already dead.

When their gazes met, a chill ran down Dr. James’s spine, and the weight of impending death pressed heavily on him. He realized that no matter what he said, his fate was sealed.

James Wright had never regretted anything in his life, except for the time he altered two people’s memories at a friend’s request. If he were to die, he would rather it be at the hands of the Feng family than in the hand of this madman.

He also bore no grudge against Gu Jianci—on the contrary, he had even helped him cope with his dissociative identity disorder. So, he didn’t understand why Gu Jianci was so intent on taking his life?

Sensing his confusion, the young man chuckled lightly and said, "Dr. James, I’m here today to send you and your family off. If you have any questions, now is the time to ask. If you don’t ask now, then don’t blame me for sending you away as an ignorant ghost."

After a moment of hesitation, Dr. James steeled himself and said, "I just want to know why Mr. Gu wants to take my life. I hold no grudge against him. In fact, I have only ever helped him with his troubles."

The moment his words landed, the young man burst out in laughter as if he went crazy, "Hahahaha!"
