Chapter 264: You Like Your Boss ( 2 )

Although it wasn’t the first time Wei Zheming had fed her, Xiao Wu felt that something had changed between them since she woke up.

Their interactions seemed the same, yet she couldn’t shake the feeling that the way her Senior Brother looked at her was somehow different. She just couldn’t figure out what had changed.

After finishing her meal, Wei Zheming ate his breakfast—half of which consisted of her leftovers.

Seeing this, Xiao Wu asked, "Senior Brother, don’t you find it disgusting to eat my leftovers?"

Wei Zheming swallowed his food before replying, "Is this the first time we have shared food? Do you find my saliva disgusting?"

Xiao Wu thought back to their time training and competing together, sharing food and drinks without hesitation. They had even shared a single cup of milk tea before.

"No, I have never found it disgusting," she admitted frankly.

At her response, the corners of Wei Zheming’s lips curled into a smile. However, with his head lowered, Xiao Wu didn’t notice and continued, "I just thought you might find it disgusting, especially since I heard you like your boss."

The moment she said this, Wei Zheming choked on his food and coughed violently.

"Cough! Cough! Cough!"

Seeing him cough until his face turned red, Xiao Wu pushed herself up and handed him a glass of water. Enduring the dizziness, she asked worriedly, "Senior brother, are you alright?"

Although he felt as if he might die from the coughing fit, Wei Zheming still held her shoulder and gently helped her lie back down. He quickly drank the water and took several deep breaths to calm himself.

When she saw that he was no longer coughing, Xiao Wu continued, "Senior brother, it’s alright. Love is universal. You don’t have to feel embarrassed about your feelings toward a man. I will always be your close friend. We can even have secret talks about the people we like if you want."

As soon as she finished her words, Wei Zheming looked at her with teary eyes and asked hoarsely, "You have someone you like?"

Xiao Wu smiled helplessly at his question and nodded. Yes, she had someone she liked, but that person didn’t feel the same way. After all, he liked men, and at most, she could only be his best friend.

The moment he saw her nod, Wei Zheming’s eyes turned cold. He clenched his chopsticks tightly and asked calmly, "Who is it? Do I know him?"

Thinking he was just curious, Xiao Wu pondered for a moment before answering, "Well, not only do you know him—you know him very well."

Hearing this, Wei Zheming felt a wave of discomfort wash over him. Even the fragrant dumplings in front of him lost their appeal.

He set the bowl down on the table and asked nonchalantly, "Is this person part of our team?"

"He is," Xiao Wu said meaningfully.

’He is not only part of our team—he is even the Captain,’ she thought with a smile.

The unease in Wei Zheming’s heart quickly morphed into anger and jealousy when he saw the admiration and affection in her eyes.

’Who is it? Who dares to seduce my cabbage under my nose?!’ he thought angrily.

Due to his anger, his grip on the chopsticks tightened until they snapped in half with a loud crack.

Startled by the sound, Xiao Wu glanced at the broken chopsticks and then at her senior brother.

Seeing his cold eyes and terrifyingly dark expression, she gulped nervously and said, "S-Senior brother, if you are busy, you can go do your work. I can take care of myself."

Taking a deep breath, Wei Zheming tried to suppress his jealousy.

He looked at her and said solemnly, "Xiao Wu, promise me that you will introduce that bastard to me before you get into a relationship with him. As your senior brother, I need to check him first."

Xiao Wu knew it wasn’t wise to argue with him at this moment. Although he appeared calm, she could tell he was furious. The calmer he looked, the angrier he was.

To save herself, she nodded and promised, "I will definitely let you know first before I confess to him."

Wei Zheming was still dissatisfied and added, "Also, I’m straight. I don’t like men, so you should stop entertaining that nonsense every day."

Xiao Wu’s eyes widened in shock. It took her a while before she find her voice and said, "But those rumors—"

Before she could finish, Wei Zheming interrupted her, "They are just rumors. My parents still want grandchildren, and I still want to hold my wife’s soft body at night. Stop reading those articles!"

Caught off guard by his statement, Xiao Wu missed the meaningful gaze he directed at her. Her mind buzzed with this sudden revelation. She had always thought her senior brother was gay and had never dared to cross the line.

Now that she knew he was straight, should she pursue him? Would it shock him if he learned that she liked him as a man and not as a brother?

She didn’t dare think about the consequences of confessing and being rejected. She might lose the ability to spend time with him, to feel his warm, gentle care.

What should she do now?

Seeing her lost in thought again, Wei Zheming snapped his fingers in front of her face and said, "Earth to Xiao Wu."

Startled by his voice, Xiao Wu snapped out of her daze and nodded, "Ah, oh."

Looking at her silly face, Wei Zheming sighed, wondering who was the man who could make this silly girl fall in love with him. If he knew who he was, he would make sure that man would never dare to approach her again.

"I need to go to work now. Call me if you need anything. If you need to go to the bathroom, just call the nurse. I have already asked them to pay extra attention to you."

"Okay."

Wei Zheming packed up the leftover food and took it with him when he left.
