Chapter 236: Collapse
Chapter 236: Collapse
Hearing his son’s words, Jin Rongsan said anxiously, "Zhiwen, I really am your father. If you don’t believe me, we can do a paternity test."
In fact, Jin Zhiwen knew in his heart that this man was his father. If it were twenty years ago, he might feel happy that he still had a father and accepted him. But now, he no longer needs his father. He was no longer a weak and helpless man.
This man never came to find him and his mother when they were bullied and living in poverty. Even in the most difficult moment of his life, when his mother fell ill and died, this man never showed up. So what’s the use of him coming to find him now?
"Even if you are my father, that won’t change the fact that you abandoned my mother when she was pregnant. Since you chose to abandon my mother and me, you should never appear in front of me."
Hearing these words, Jin Rongsan felt his heart was stabbed with a dull knife. He looked at his son and said, "Zhiwen, I never abandoned you or your mother. Back then, it was my father who—"
Before he could finish his words, Jin Zhiwen interrupted him, "Mr. Jin, if you came here only to say these things, then save your breath. I have no interest in your excuses."
After he said those words, he stood up and added, "I’m very busy, so I hope you will stop disturbing me. I don’t want to see you again."
Seeing his son walk away, Jin Rongsan quickly stood up and said, "Zhiwen, I found your daughter."
At these words, Jin Zhiwen’s footsteps stopped instantly. Turning around, he looked at Jin Rongsan and asked in disbelief, "What did you say?"
Jin Rongsan knew he needed to mention Yan Yuling or he might never get another chance to speak with his son. So, he quickly said, "Zhiwen, I found your daughter. We did a DNA test, and it confirmed that we are related by blood. She is my biological granddaughter."
Jin Zhiwen clenched his trembling fists and asked coldly, "How do you know she is my daughter?"
"Her mother is Mo Wenxing. This is a picture of her with her mother," Jin Rongsan took an old picture from his pocket and showed it to his son.
Jin Zhiwen hesitated for a moment before taking the picture. The moment he saw the woman in it, his eyes reddened, and tears flowed down his face.
He touched the woman’s face with trembling fingers and whispered hoarsely, "Xing’er, it’s really you. I finally found the news about you."
After a moment, he looked at Jin Rongsan and asked, "Where is she now?"
Jin Rongsan avoided his son’s eager eyes and said, "She... passed away."
At these words, Jin Zhiwen’s body swayed, and he staggered back. His face turned pale as if he were drowning in a cold, frozen ocean.
Seeing him in such a state, Jin Rongsan quickly walked over to him, held his arm to steady him and asked worriedly, "Zhiwen, are you alright?"
Jin Zhiwen, still lost in shock, muttered to himself, "No, it’s not real. It’s impossible. Xing’er shouldn’t have died. She should marry that man and live a good life. How could she die?"
"I still have so much to say to her. How can she just leave like this? This is a lie. Yes, it must be a lie," he added in a daze.
Suddenly, he looked at Jin Rongsan with desperate eyes. He grabbed his arms tightly and demanded, "You are lying to me, aren’t you? Xing’er isn’t dead. You are lying!"
Jin Rongsan’s heart felt like it was being pierced by countless needles at the sight of his son’s despair. When he first learned of his wife’s death, he, too, struggled to accept it. Even now, he could hardly believe she had been gone for so many years.
Taking a deep breath, he sighed and said, "I didn’t lie to you. Mo Wenxing died 15 years ago."
Jin Zhiwen stared at him in shock. "Fifteen years..." he repeated in disbelief.
He had been searching for her for 20 years without success, only to find out she had already passed away. He regretted his decision to leave her back then. He had thought that by agreeing to her father’s wishes, she would be able to live a better life.
He never imagined that night in the rain would be their last meeting. If he had known that she would die five years after the breakup, he would never let her go. If he had known she was carrying his child, he would never give up on her.
Now, all his regrets and unspoken words were meaningless—she was gone.
He looked at Jin Rongsan and asked, "How did she die?"
Jin Rongsan hesitated for a long time before he said in a low voice, "She...suicide."
The moment he heard this, Jin Zhiwen’s eyes widened with shock. Suddenly, he felt his chest was blocked and he coughed up blood before he collapsed.
"Zhiwen!" Jin Rongsan shouted in alarm as his son fell to the ground.
Not long after, the door of the private room opened suddenly, and several waitresses entered the room. The moment they saw the blood on the ground, they were shocked.
"Someone, call an ambulance!" Jin Rongsan shouted.
Hearing his words, one of the waitresses quickly pulled out her phone and dialed the emergency number. Soon, the ambulance arrived, and paramedics rushed in. They provided first aid and transported Jin Zhiwen to the nearest hospital.
All this time, Jin Rongsan followed them with a pale face.
At the hospital, Jin Zhiwen was taken into the emergency room while a nurse stopped Jin Rongsan.
"Please wait here," the nurse said before disappearing into the room and closing the door.
Staring at the closed door, Jin Rongsan stood motionless for a moment before realizing something.
"I need to inform Yuling," he muttered in a low voice to himself.
