Chapter 462: Chapter 462: Return to Los Angeles, Distribution of Follow-up Work on the Case
"I’ve reminded them, don’t worry, they know their limits."
Luo An swallowed the food in his mouth and nodded with a smile.
Aside from Mona, the other four members of the Special Investigation Team actually aren’t interested in gambling.
Michelle goes without saying, Reesi is like a hamster, her mind only on saving money for retirement. Even the money for the hotel room last night wasn’t paid by her; she definitely wouldn’t step into a casino to play cards.
Chenier isn’t as extreme in "saving" as Reesi, but she is also busy saving money to take care of her parents and wouldn’t go to the casino.
Winslow has the most mature thoughts, plus a son from his ex-wife that he constantly thinks about; he, too, wouldn’t squander money in the casino.
"OK."
Mona finished the food on the table, leaned back, patted her stomach gently, took a deep breath, and asked with a smile:
"Now that we’re fed, what’s next?"
Luo An turned his head to look at the bedroom, and Mona immediately crossed her arms in front of her chest, forming an X, and shouted:
"NO! I haven’t rested well; I can’t do it!"
"What are you thinking about?"
Luo An rolled his eyes and pointed his finger at the clothes rack in the bedroom, where he had just called for a room service to bring some new women’s clothes, saying:
"You threw up once when you were drunk yesterday. You can’t wear that outfit anymore.
These are new clothes; change into one of them, and let’s go shopping.
Unless something unexpected happens, it might be a long while before we leave Las Vegas again."
"I love you to death, Luo An!"
Enlightened by his words, Mona brightened up, stood up from her chair, planted a big kiss on Luo An’s face, and then scurried into the bedroom giggling, pulling the room door shut to change clothes.
"Why close the door, haven’t I seen it all before?"
Watching as the bedroom door closed, Luo An muttered under his breath, then turned to look out the window, contemplating what the villa Javari bought looked like.
This kind of initiative by a father-in-law to buy a house and let him and Mona live there was really his first experience, and it felt quite marvelous...
Caesar Palace Mall, Fashion Show Mall, Designer Outlet Shopping Center, Grand Canal Mall.
These are some of Las Vegas’s oldest and largest shopping malls, with all kinds of brands available, a dazzling array of goods, merchants claim nearly everything in the world can be found here.
Starting from 1:30 in the afternoon, the bright-eyed Mona pulled Luo An around the malls non-stop until 9 PM.
Although they kept eating and drinking in between and rested in restaurants and other places, Luo An still felt like he was on the brink of collapse, not physically, but mentally.
Because Mona kept browsing, but didn’t buy much; she loved the novelty of seeing new clothes and bags while shopping.
The next day, on the plane from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, Mona and Reesi sat together, chatting happily about yesterday’s shopping spree. Luo An sat by the window, looking at the scenery below, his eyes blank and his gaze vacant.
Winslow, who had been through this before, waved at the flight attendant for a juice, tapped Luo An on the shoulder, handed him the juice, and said with a smile:
"You’ll get used to it."

Los Angeles, FBI branch building, Special Investigation Team office area.
"Everyone, let’s not beat around the bush; our primary task next is to handle the aftermath of the case."
Luo An pulled over a whiteboard, gave a brief explanation of the follow-up work on the "26 deaths in a villa" case, and then distributed folders to each agent.
"Hey? Wait a minute."
After all the folders were distributed, Reesi looked at the stack on Mona’s desk, then at Michelle’s, and then at the three stacks on her desk, raised her hand and looked at Luo An:
"Why do I have so many?"
"Because Chenier has taken a sudden leave to go home, give her a hand."
Luo An pointed to the empty seat next to Winslow; Chenier’s parents had some health issues, and she took a plane back home to visit them.
"I know about Chenier taking leave."
Previously, when flying back to Los Angeles from Las Vegas, Chenier didn’t board the plane, a fact that Reesi was aware of.
Mona was puzzled. Even if Chenier’s work was handed over to her, it should only be two stacks of folders, so why was there an additional stack?
"Oh, you mean this."
Luo An suddenly realized, and said without changing his expression:
"That extra stack is mine."
"???"
Reesi tilted her head, confused:
"What do you mean?"
"It’s nothing serious, I have to attend a meeting with the team supervisor, so I’m handing these documents over to you."
Luo An smiled, patted Reesi on the shoulder, then clenched his fists and gave her a "good luck" gesture before turning around and walking out of the Special Investigation Team’s office area. fr.e ewe.bno.vel .com
"..."
Watching Luo An’s disappearing figure, Reesi twitched her eyelids, while Winslow next to her chuckled and asked:
"Reesi, did you do something to upset Luo An?"
"How would I know?"
Reesi scratched her head with a pained expression... a chest pain expression, while Mona laughed softly, patted Reesi’s shoulder, and casually took a few folders from in front of Reesi for herself.
Michelle and Winslow also picked up a few, and the folders in front of the four were now evenly distributed.
"Hmph."
Reesi snorted softly towards the direction Luo An had left, stood up, walked to a nearby empty desk, picked up a bunch of snacks Luo An had just bought, distributed them to everyone, then began eating and dealing with the follow-up work for the case.
Knowing the Special Investigation Team agents well, Luo An could imagine what the office area scene would look like, it was just a joke he made with Reesi. He walked to the team supervisor’s office, knocked on the door, and entered upon hearing permission.
Today, the team supervisor Potante-Byrne was not sitting behind his desk doing paperwork as usual but was standing by the bookshelf reading a case file seriously.
Luo An kept his expression and greeted with a smile:
"Good afternoon, sir."
"Good afternoon."
Potante-Byrne closed the case file, looked up at Luo An with a smile, gestured for him to sit, and said:
"Luo An, you guys really made a splash this time."
Luo An looked puzzled, Potante-Byrne chuckled, leaned back, and crossed his legs, saying:
"The incident at the Audel family villa is no secret; many people are curious about what the local law enforcement in Las Vegas will do.
But unexpectedly, the current head of the Audel family sought your Special Investigation Team to handle it, and you cracked the case in less than two weeks, truly eye-opening for many."
As for the higher-ups, it didn’t take long after Luo An solved the case for them to know the details of the incident.
Seeing Luo An lead the Special Investigation Team in handling the case with an unhurried and effortless manner, many started envying the luck of Vireness and Potante-Byrne for having someone like Luo An.
Luo An grinned and briefly recounted the investigation and handling of the case; Potante-Byrne nodded repeatedly.
Hearing how in the end Luo An exploited the information gap to set a trap for Hector Jamie, Potante-Byrne’s face filled with a smiling applause.
"Oh, by the way, the head of one of the FBI subdivisions in Las Vegas called me yesterday."
Following Luo An’s report, Potante-Byrne brought up Fiona’s matter.
However, this matter was slightly complicated; that side first apologized, and how to deal with it further might need some time, Potante-Byrne signaled Luo An not to hurry.
Luo An smiled upon hearing, good things come to those who wait, he was never in a rush for such matters.
"Good."
Potante-Byrne nodded satisfactorily; the two chatted casually for a while before Luo An stood up and left the office. The next two days were Saturday and Sunday, and he planned to visit Javari’s recently purchased villa with Mona to move house.
