Chapter 461: Chapter 461: The House Javari Bought, Real Estate Investment
Las Vegas, a hotel suite.
On the phone, Mona’s father Javari Evans was slightly taken aback, but quickly grasped the situation and said, without words:
"What a cold joke."
"It’s not a joke, just a fact."
After finishing up, Luo An washed his hands and asked:
"Calling so late, what’s the matter?
Mona just had some drinks, she’s asleep now and won’t wake up anytime soon."
"It’s not about Mona, I mainly called you."
On the phone, Javari stood on a cruise ship, watching the distant, dimly lit skyscrapers, took a sip of red wine, and spoke with a very annoyed tone:
"I bought a house in Los Angeles for Mona, you two should move there when you get back."
A few days ago, Javari casually looked up Mona and Luo An’s current address, intending to send some European specialties to them, only to find out that the two had been renting a place in Los Angeles all along.
Knowing that Luo An had made a large sum of money, Javari immediately felt very annoyed.
Then, upon learning about how much rent they were paying for that rental property, and that Luo An and Mona were splitting the rent equally, AA system, Javari wished he could return to the federation immediately and chop Luo An to death with an axe.
But considering Mona’s heart was entirely with Luo An, Javari could only swear and abandon that idea.
Not wanting Mona to "suffer" in a rental, Javari directly asked an acquaintance for help and bought a villa not far from the FBI’s Los Angeles division and put it in Mona’s name.
Considering the continuous devaluation of both the euro and the US dollar, investing was the way to go. Javari also bought several villas in a few well-known communities in Los Angeles, waiting for the day the villas appreciated in value to sell them off and make a big profit.
"..."
After hearing Javari’s account, Luo An looked up, covering his eyes with a face full of speechlessness.
The reason they rented was that Luo An and Mona both knew they wouldn’t stay long in Los Angeles, so there was no need to buy a house.
The two of them splitting rent equally was more about Mona wanting to prove her independence. Luo An respected Mona, and didn’t want to argue with her over this; in fact, neither of them took it to heart.
Luo An didn’t feel like he was "living off" anyone by moving into the house Javari bought, since he was a bit wealthier.
The reason he felt speechless was because Luo An remembered from his previous life that starting from 2007, a subprime mortgage crisis struck, and the entire country’s real estate market collapsed. During that time, law enforcement departments removed bodies from under certain skyscrapers.
Now the timeline had officially entered into the year 2006, and Javari was making large purchases of villas at this time... Luo An had already started to calculate how much money Javari would lose on this move.
As for going bankrupt, that would be impossible. Javari was a sly fox, and having multiple hideouts had become a subconscious habit; he would not put all his money into real estate.
Besides, Javari had Mrs. Hanover backing him up, and she was even wealthier.
Luo An also tried to dissuade Javari obliquely, but Javari brushed it off without a care. Luo An, having no other choice, could only sigh and change the subject, asking:
"By the way, how’s your retirement application coming along?"
"It’s been approved!"
When it came to this, Javari laughed heartily, very happy. Although he nearly got killed by a mole at the last moment, he ultimately got through with the help of Luo An and others.
Having worked at the CIA for so many years, Javari had seen life and death and witnessed many who perished halfway. The fact that he could reach the end and get a retirement pension to retire peacefully was already quite satisfying.
On the phone, Javari picked up his glass, tilted his head back to drink it all in one gulp, took in the sea breeze, and laughed:
"Mrs. Hanover and I have already planned a trip to travel around the world. Take care of Mona and Caroline for me in the meanwhile."
"..."
Luo An’s eyelid twitched. He could understand taking care of Mona, but what did he mean by Caroline?
Suddenly, Luo An seemed to remember something and added:
"When you and Mrs. Hanover go on your world tour, make sure to bring plenty of bodyguards.
With all the years you’ve worked in the CIA, you definitely have no shortage of enemies, and I don’t want to receive another call from Caroline one day saying you’ve gone missing again."
"...Curse of the crow’s mouth."
Javari rolled his eyes on the other end of the call, then threatened Luo An with the old cliché that if Mona got bullied, he’d come back and shoot Luo An, before hanging up the phone.
In the hotel, Luo An casually tossed the phone aside, stretched lazily, then walked into the bedroom to tidy up Mona’s clothes a bit, before carrying her into the bathroom around the waist.
After drinking so much, Luo An didn’t want to end up covered in Mona’s vomit in the middle of the night.

The next day, the entire Special Investigation Team took a day off.
Before eight o’clock in the morning, Mona sobered up and opened her eyes, intending to wash up and then call for breakfast, but as soon as she sat up in bed, Luo An reached out and grabbed her arm.
"Hmm?"
Mona, with her hair in disarray and looking quite languid, turned around with a puzzled look:
"What’s up?"
Still a bit groggy from last night’s drunkenness though sober, Mona’s brain was working a lot slower than usual.
"What’s up?"
Luo An, full of irritation from last night since Mona’s drunkenness prevented the intended outcome, pulled Mona back onto the bed, covered her with the duvet, and smiled:
"What do you think I’m up to?"
Seeing Luo An so close, Mona’s eyes widened instantly:
"Wait a minute, I..."
Before Mona could finish speaking, the hands of the clock on the wall not far away leisurely moved to twelve o’clock noon.
"Damn it!"
Mona snatched up a pillow and threw it hard at Luo An, who was walking out of the bathroom, growling:
"Call and order a meal! I’m starving!"
"OK."
Luo An chuckled and handed Mona a bath towel, successfully earning a roll of her eyes as a reward.
As Mona got up to shower, Luo An went into the living room to call the hotel service and order food, and then called each member of the Special Investigation Team to briefly check on their situations, just in case something unexpected happened.
Michelle had already left the hotel and was currently picking out books in a small bookstore on the verge of closing in Las Vegas, and even thanked Luo An for booking her a room the night before when she received his call.
Winslow was with the woman from last night, dining at a restaurant when he answered the phone.
Chenier and the female boxer were in a clinic as they got into a fight during a sparring session last night under the influence of alcohol, and were currently getting treatment.
As for Reesi, the one who answered the phone wasn’t her but a sweet-voiced woman, and Luo An hung up directly after hearing Reesi’s unrestrained flirting and laughter with four or five women, occasionally mixed with more provocative sounds, without any expression.
He wasn’t envious or jealous, just felt that Reesi living like this long-term was very bad for her health.
So Luo An decided that tomorrow he would triple the workload assigned to Reesi... no, triple it, to get her to focus more on her work and take better care of her health.
It wasn’t long before the hotel service staff delivered food to the suite, and after Mona finished washing up, she sat with Luo An and began tasting the special steak recommended by the service staff.
After finishing a steak, Luo An wiped his mouth and told Mona about Javari buying a villa in Los Angeles. Mona was stunned, silent for a few seconds without saying anything, and continued to eat her food.
A moment later, Mona suddenly looked up at Luo An and, instead of asking about the villa, brought up another question:
"Luo An, this is Las Vegas. Have you reminded Reesi and the others, not to go play in the casinos?"
