Chapter 1450: Chapter 1450: Knocking on the Door
Outside Swimming City, Nameless Mountain.
Devlin wore a black hood and black leather gloves, holding a cigarette tightly in one hand while fiddling with a phone in the other.
Seeing the message on the screen, he took a deep drag and then pressed the cigarette butt into an ashtray.
“Could I have guessed wrong?”
The powerful individual who suddenly appeared from the Young Family wasn’t after the Seven Pulse Holder Weapons?
Why was Eagle’s weapon taken away?
According to intel, during his battle with Shay Bread, that man in black used a high-voltage wire to play a melody and repel thousands of people!
A powerhouse like this showing up at the Young Family must have something to do with the impending opening of the Azure Emperor’s tomb.
“Could it be that I’m overthinking this?”
Devlin pondered for a moment and replied to the message, “Proceed as planned.”
If that mysterious man isn’t after the Seven Pulse Suppressing Divine Artifact, then it doesn’t matter.
Eagle losing the Vein Holder Weapon might just be an accident?
“Devlin!”
Bam!
Defeat slammed a pot of mud-hotpot skewers down heavily onto the table and sat across from Devlin.
The two of them were inside a straw hut.
The hut was dimly lit.
Mud-coated walls surrounded them on all sides.
On the walls hung a bow and arrows, alongside a long blade.
The table was a square sandalwood table.
The chairs were blue plastic stools.
Defeat sported a scruffy beard, his hair tied back, and wore a yellow hemp robe.
He didn’t look particularly pleased.
“We’re old buddies. Is this really what you’re going to serve me?” Devlin put his phone aside, gesturing to the mud-hotpot skewers, “A dignified Vein Holder, and you’re being so stingy.”
“Eat if you like, scram if you don’t!”
Defeat impatiently opened a bottle of beer, snatching up skewers and digging in with large bites.
The skewers consisted of pork belly, fish balls, various bean products, and sausages.
They were coated in a layer of chili oil, filling the room with aroma.
Devlin sniffed the air, and his stomach involuntarily growled.
“Although it’s a bit shabby, I’ll still have a bite.” He removed his hood, revealing the mottled face beneath.
There was no need for any shyness between the two old acquaintances.
Besides, Devlin’s face changed daily.
Thus, exposing his true appearance wasn’t a concern.
“What does Bead want?” Defeat tossed a bamboo skewer onto the table, guzzling his beer, and muttered helplessly, “That damn woman, she’s haunting me like a ghost.”
“These years spent in a life of darkness have been rather dull, haven’t they?” Devlin grabbed Defeat’s beer without hesitation and took a swig straight from the bottle.
“I’ve lived this kind of life for three hundred years!”
Bam!
He slammed the beer bottle on the table and sighed, “This was given to you by Bead.”
Devlin took out the Divine Dragon Tripod and pushed it towards Defeat.
“Take it!”
Defeat didn’t reach out to take it.
This treasure, a target of global greed, didn’t even warrant a glance from him.
Grabbing a few skewers, munching them down with large bites, Defeat said with resignation, “Had it not been for this thing, how could I have ended up in today’s dire straits?”
“There’s a chance—a chance to see daylight again, free from anyone’s shackles. Would you take it?” Devlin stared intently at Defeat.
“Speak.” Defeat drained the rest of the beer, his eyes reddened as he asked, “What kind of chance?”
“The Azure Emperor Tomb is about to open.” Devlin pulled a cigarette from his pocket, lighting it as he sat, “You’re a local; you must know about it. I’ve already incited Micah Will to enter the tomb, intending to retrieve some treasures.”
“Micah Will?” Defeat seemed surprised, “Aren’t you with Bead Pulse?”
“I only belong to myself.” Devlin exhaled a puff of smoke, speaking deliberately, “In Micah Will, I go by the alias Prince Bradley, and I’ve already earned Micah’s trust. Once the Azure Emperor Tomb opens, I’ll reclaim my freedom, free from everyone’s chains.”
As he spoke, his eyes carried a trace of hatred!
“What kind of treasures?” Defeat naturally knew about the Azure Emperor Tomb’s imminent opening.
Who among the Seven Pulses didn’t know about the Azure Emperor’s past?
“If you want to regain freedom, cooperate with me.” Devlin tossed his cigarette butt into the skewers, then stood up and reclaimed the Divine Dragon Tripod. “Remember to contact me on the day the tomb opens.”
With that, he walked away briskly.
“Damn! My skewers!” Defeat cursed aloud, “If you can’t get something, you have to destroy it?”
“That’s right!” Devlin stopped in his tracks, turning back to look at Defeat, “That’s how I’ve always been.”
“You’re leaving just like that?” Defeat spread his hands helplessly, “Was notifying me about this the only reason you came?”
“Bead sent me here to deliver news to the Saint Lord. She believes the Saint Lord is in Swimming City.” Devlin left at a slow pace. “Now that I’ve shown up, the effect has been achieved. On the day the tomb opens, Swimming City will be thrown into chaos.”
Just like how he came, Devlin left with an extraordinary casualness.
“What a madman!” Defeat shook his head, sitting back on the chair and reminiscing about his glorious past…
…
“Tao Emperor!”
East Sea, Dragon Palace.
A Taoist rushed into the palace hall, looking at the man seated at the center of the Dragon Palace, and knelt heavily on both knees. “Tao Emperor, the God-Buddha has forcibly breached the city gates. Our casualties are severe.”
“Oh?”
The man stood up, chuckling softly, “That monk is throwing another tantrum? I’ll go take a look.”
He wore a gray Taoist robe, carrying a horsetail whisk as he strode towards the city gates.
The Dragon Palace was a structure built on an island by the East Sea Demon-Dao sect.
Its walls were adorned with nine dragons, hence the name Dragon Palace.
The island was exclusively inhabited by East Sea Taoists.
No outsiders.
At that moment.
The outer courtyard of the Dragon Palace.
A man dressed in white, his hair loose, stood at the palace gates, his presence radiating intense killing intent!
Around him lay dozens of injured Taoists, their groans of pain filling the air, their bodies riddled with wounds.
“Bring out the East Sea Demon-Dao to face me,” the white-clothed man extended his hand, suddenly grasping at the air!
Bam!
A Taoist ten meters away was instantly caught by the neck and pulled in front of him.
“God-Buddha, we don’t know…” The Taoist was frantic.
The world knows the West Sea God-Buddha is a madman!
“Don’t know? Then I’ll make you know!” The West Sea God-Buddha smiled faintly, his grip tightening.
Suddenly!
He raised his head, abruptly tossing the Taoist aside, and clapped his hands forward!
Boom!
The Eight Trigrams shattered.
The East Sea Demon-Dao appeared at the city gates.
“Here to fight again?” Seeing the downed disciples on the ground, he seemed displeased: “Haven’t I told you before to not take out our issues on the younger generation.”
“Demon-Dao! Your disciple killed one of my Arhats! What do you have to say about this?” The West Sea God-Buddha raised one hand, pointing at the East Sea Demon-Dao, “Today, this deity demands an explanation!”
“God-Buddha, you must be joking?” The East Sea Demon-Dao, noticing the wrathful expression of the West Sea God-Buddha, felt an ominous foreboding in his heart.
“When did this happen?”
“At dawn!” The West Sea God-Buddha pulled out a smartphone from his sleeve and threw it to the East Sea Demon-Dao. “Your marvelous disciple, Iron Sword Taoist!”
The East Sea Demon-Dao didn’t argue but simply glanced at the video.
On the screen, Iron Sword Taoist backstabbed the Seven Star Arhat!
Leading to his demise.
“Where did this video come from?” The East Sea Demon-Dao felt something amiss.
Though the two factions constantly clashed, never had anyone been killed before.
“The entire web has it; it’s already gone viral. Demon-Dao, is this your way of humiliating me?” The West Sea God-Buddha crossed his arms, his tone frosty: “Give me an explanation!”
