Chapter 1451: Chapter 1451: Sneak Attack
The relationship between the East Sea and the West Sea has always been amicable.
Conflicts between disciples of the two factions mostly arise from their competitiveness.
After all, the decades-long rivalry between the divine faith of the West Sea and the demonic path of the East Sea remains unresolved.
Both sides are evenly matched, and their abilities have soared to new heights over the years.
Since the divine faith of the West Sea and the demonic path of the East Sea are locked in constant sparring, it’s only natural for the disciples below to seek victory.
Through this rivalry, both factions’ disciples are motivated to tirelessly train and improve, which is precisely the outcome desired by their leaders.
For many years, an unspoken understanding existed between the two sides.
These contests were restrained; they would conclude without causing any injuries or fatalities.
Ultimately, it was a constructive rivalry, not a hatred-driven feud.
But now.
The Iron Sword Daoist of the East Sea unexpectedly murdered the Seven-Star Arhat from behind—an act that defies all reason.
The Seven-Star Arhat, appearing in Swimming City under orders from the divine faith of the West Sea, was cooperating with the Five-Peak Arhat to search for the Divine Dragon Tripod.
The Iron Sword Daoist had the same objective.
The East Sea, renowned for their expertise in alchemy, naturally coveted such a treasure.
When the video first surfaced, the divine faith of the West Sea had initially suspected that the East Sea demonic path might betray them for the Divine Dragon Tripod.
But upon further contemplation.
If the East Sea was truly behind this, why would the video be circulated?
The divine faith of the West Sea possessed both incredible combat power and sharp wit.
Still, in front of Dragon Palace, he fought and defeated a group of East Sea Taoists.
This was a matter of pride.
Outsiders didn’t care about the hidden intricacies of the situation—they only knew that a West Sea Arhat had been betrayed and murdered by an East Sea Taoist.
If the divine faith of the West Sea did nothing in response, his reputation would plummet to the depths.
The East Sea demonic path understood this well.
No matter what, the fact that the Iron Sword Daoist had killed the Seven-Star Arhat was incontrovertible.
“Everyone, stand back.”
The East Sea demonic path gestured a ‘please,’ saying, “Brother Buddha, let’s discuss further inside.”
“Alright!” The divine faith of the West Sea, hands clasped behind his back, entered Dragon Palace with a stern expression.
“Contact the Iron Sword Daoist immediately. Even if he’s dead, I want his corpse dug up!” Watching the murderous aura emanating from the divine faith of the West Sea’s departing back, the East Sea demonic path couldn’t help but shake his head.
Things were certainly not that simple.
The Iron Sword Daoist betraying and murdering the Seven-Star Arhat could only mean one thing:
Survival.
But the one recording the video—who could that possibly be?
Dragon Palace.
Inner Hall.
The East Sea’s aesthetic leaned towards white.
The walls of Dragon Palace’s interior were all milky white, inlaid with numerous Luminous Pearls.
Above was a massive bagua-patterned ceiling, harmonizing with the Taoists within.
In the four corners of the Inner Hall stood four medicinal tripods, softly exhaling wisps of blue smoke.
The air was filled with the fragrance of elixirs.
The divine faith of the West Sea stood silently in the Inner Hall.
It seemed as though he was waiting for an explanation from the East Sea demonic path.
“Brother Buddha. On my return journey, I reviewed the video several times and noticed a few peculiarities.” Holding his phone, the East Sea demonic path smiled as he approached the divine faith of the West Sea: “Shall we talk?”
“Alright.” The divine faith of the West Sea sat cross-legged on the ground, expressionless: “Speak.”
“Sigh…” The East Sea demonic path chuckled and shook his head. After all, it was his disciple who made the grave mistake; as the master, he had to shoulder this burden.
“I watched the video ten times and saw that the Seven-Star Arhat kept staring at the camera, his appearance utterly disheveled. Even the purple-gold Kasaya on his hand was crumpled, as though he had just endured a fierce battle.”
The East Sea demonic path pointed at his phone: “We should first figure out who recorded the video.”
“That’s your problem!” The divine faith of the West Sea tilted his head and said coldly, “If you don’t give me a satisfactory answer before sunset, I’ll personally go to Swimming City and chop the Iron Sword Daoist into pieces!”
“Fine! Fine! Fine!” The East Sea demonic path sighed helplessly.
“Tao Emperor!”
Suddenly.
The Inner Hall door was pushed open, and a Taoist rushed in, urgently handing over a phone: “We’ve contacted the Iron Sword Daoist.”
“Tao Emperor!”
On the phone screen, the Iron Sword Daoist appeared, furiously drunk and slurring his words: “Tao Emperor, what do you need from me?”
“Where are you?”
Seeing the Iron Sword Daoist in such a state, the East Sea demonic path was visibly furious: “I ordered you to investigate the Divine Dragon Tripod, but you’re drowning yourself in alcohol?”
In an instant!
The entire room’s temperature dropped to freezing.
“Life’s too short; revel while you can.” The Iron Sword Daoist raised his wine cup, gulping down its contents.
Utterly ignoring the fact that he was speaking with his master.
“Your authority seems lacking, demonic path.” The divine faith of the West Sea sneered continuously from the side: “Even your own disciple dares to address you this way.”
“Iron Sword, I don’t care what you went through. Answer me—is it true you killed the Seven-Star Arhat?” The East Sea demonic path found himself taken aback.
Though he rarely lost his temper, no one in the entire East Sea dared oppose his authority.
Onscreen, the Iron Sword Daoist seemed like a changed person.
“How do you know about this?” The Iron Sword Daoist paused in shock before laughing hysterically: “Fine, fine! A life for a life—this poor Taoist will die to make amends!”
With that!
He suddenly pulled the Longsword on the table and placed it against his neck.
“What nonsense!” The East Sea demonic path finally erupted in fury!
What was this?
Suicide out of guilt?
If the Iron Sword Daoist truly died like this, wouldn’t it solidify the East Sea’s reputation for harming the West Sea?
“Iron Sword, I believe you must have had your reasons. Tell me!” The East Sea demonic path’s expression darkened.
In the video, the Iron Sword Daoist halted his action and laughed wildly: “Yes, I killed him. If I didn’t kill the Seven-Star Arhat, both of us would’ve died!”
“Who was your opponent?” The silent divine faith of the West Sea finally spoke.
“The North Sea, Everton Davenport!” The Iron Sword Daoist grabbed a wine jug, chugged its entire contents, and smashed it violently!
Crash!
“If I hadn’t acted, the Seven-Star Arhat would’ve died at Everton Davenport’s hands—and so would I.” The Iron Sword Daoist roared with laughter: “It’s absurd, utterly absurd!”
Swish!
One swing of the sword.
Clang.
The Longsword fell to the ground, its blade stained with blood.
Thud!
Three seconds later, the Iron Sword Daoist collapsed to the ground.
Blood gushed from his neck like a spring.
The phone’s screen faced the ceiling, rendering the scene profoundly desolate.
“Everton Davenport?” The divine faith of the West Sea’s eyes, sharp as an eagle’s, locked onto the phone screen.
“Brother Buddha, rest assured—I’ll provide you with a satisfactory explanation. Moreover, regardless of whether the Iron Sword truly committed suicide, I’ll turn him over to you for judgment.” The East Sea demonic path felt a pang of sorrow!
The Iron Sword Daoist was his disciple, and now he’d been cornered into death?
So helpless.
The world knew of the divine faith of the West Sea’s violent and tyrannical nature—falling into his hands might’ve been worse than dying.
The Iron Sword Daoist had used his life to save the East Sea demonic path from further difficulties.
“Three of my Arhats—directly or indirectly—have now died at Everton Davenport’s hands.” The divine faith of the West Sea’s long white hair billowed against an unseen wind, his killing intent surging higher and higher: “And now, he dares personally travel to Swimming City to harm my disciples! Old Taoist, I’m going to avenge them.”
“You believe that?” The East Sea demonic path chuckled bitterly: “There’s no evidence.”
“The Iron Sword feared death not. Why would he fear speaking the truth?” The divine faith of the West Sea frowned slightly, snorting coldly: “It seems I’ll have to teach the North Sea a lesson—show Everton Davenport the true power of gods and buddhas! A mere mortal like him is unworthy of challenging me!”
Just as his sentence ended, the phone at his waist rang.
The divine faith of the West Sea retrieved it, saw the caller’s identity, and answered the call on speaker.
He intended to issue a command for war against the North Sea in front of the East Sea demonic path.
But before he could speak, an urgent voice came through the phone: “Lord Buddha, the North Sea invaded the temple ten minutes ago! Our casualties are severe—even your golden statue has been shattered!”
