Chapter 1449: Chapter 1449: The Trade
Young Family.
Crystal Hall.
Under the sunlight, the crystal shone brightly in all directions.
It’s impossible to see anything clearly.
Jace Will took out his sunglasses from his pocket, and casually pulled out a handkerchief to wipe his tears.
Blinding!
Painful!
These filthy rich people!
They really know how to flaunt!
The round Crystal Hall, akin to a blazing sun radiating light in all directions.
However, upon entering, the interior layout was completely different.
Inside the spacious room, there was only one wooden table and four wooden chairs.
The walls were adorned with calligraphy and paintings.
All the calligraphy and paintings were written with gold powder on jade stones, framed with crystal, with a Rolex hanging on each of the four corners.
The extreme simplicity was striking.
The stark contrast with the opulent materials outside was evident.
It was like an utterly inappropriate idiom to describe this.
“Like gold and jade on the outside, but rotting on the inside.”
Of course, the items inside were also extraordinarily expensive.
But they exuded a more subdued, restrained, and unassuming air.
Even with a hint of the scholarly nobility.
“Miss Young isn’t coming over?” Jace Will removed his sunglasses, his eyes slightly dazzled.
The crystal was too dazzling!
It took quite a while for his vision to recover.
Right then, Silas Will followed behind him into the Crystal Hall, standing behind Jace Will.
“What’s that smell?” Jace Will sniffed noisily, eventually stopping and turning his gaze to his mentor. He frowned slightly and said, “Master, it seems to be coming from you?”
“I had some stinky tofu outside.” Silas Will replied with utter calm.
When it comes to lying, as long as you can first deceive yourself, you can deceive anyone.
Outside, he convinced himself it was stinky tofu, and promptly devoured all of the rotten eggs.
“Heh, I never knew Master had a taste for such things. Once this matter is settled, I’ll treat you to the best stinky tofu Swimming City has to offer.”
Jace Will instinctively covered his nose.
The smell was overwhelming.
“As I said, as long as Father nods in agreement, and Mother has no objections.” Ambrose Young pulled out a chair, dismissed the servants from the Crystal Hall, and personally poured four cups of tea.
“Thank you.” Jace Will accepted the tea and took a sip, diving straight into the topic: “As the eldest son, my position within Micah Will has always been solid. But half a year ago, a man named Prince Bradley suddenly appeared among us at Micah Will.”
“Prince Bradley?” Julius Reed hadn’t heard of him.
“Yes. The man calls himself Prince Bradley, a brilliant and resourceful individual. In less than half a year since arriving at Micah Will, he has already gained Father’s trust. All major and minor affairs of Micah Will have been handed over to him by Father. Prince Bradley is indeed very capable; within six months, Micah Will’s strength has doubled. Yet, Prince Bradley insists on supporting Kamden Will…”
Jace Will’s feelings towards Prince Bradley were a mix of love and hate.
“As a military strategist, Prince Bradley has been of tremendous assistance to Micah Will. But allowing someone to sleep so soundly near my throne? I fear that if this continues, Kamden Will will indeed take away what rightfully belongs to me.”
“Why say this?” Julius Reed carefully tried to recall anything about Micah Will affairs, only to realize his understanding was limited.
“Shay Bread came to cause trouble for the Young Family. The reason my brother followed along is purely to gild himself!”
Jace Will slammed his fist on the table and snarled with resentment: “Since I was thirteen, I’ve been assisting Father with Micah Will’s affairs. My brothers aren’t qualified to compete for the inheritance! That’s why Prince Bradley thought of this method—to help Kamden Will earn merit. This way, his eventual replacement of me would be justified and legitimate.”
“Profits.” Julius Reed leaned back in his chair, his eyes always observing Jace Will. “Give me a reason to help you. You and I aren’t close unless there are sufficient benefits.”
The Micah Will young master standing before him was lying.
Even though Jace Will’s actions and expressions were filled with anger.
Julius Reed couldn’t sense any anxiety.
Being robbed of one’s position wouldn’t only bring anger but also anxiety.
But Jace Will was only showing anger, devoid of anxiety.
No matter how convincingly this anger was acted, it appeared entirely thin.
Fake is always fake; there will inevitably be flaws.
If there were no flaws at all, it would be real.
Take Silas Will, for instance—standing behind Jace Will, he kept dry heaving.
That’s why Julius Reed suspected he hadn’t eaten stinky tofu but probably consumed Old Eight’s secret mini-burgers instead.
“What does Sir want? I’ve come with the utmost sincerity, and as long as it’s within my acceptable range, anything is negotiable.” There was a look of expectation in Jace Will’s eyes.
Or perhaps, it was a kind of yearning.
“One Swimming City Currency.” Julius Reed spoke.
“What?” Jace Will’s body shot upright in anger as he stormed, “I came to negotiate sincerely! Sir, this demands respect! We can talk if you’re serious, but if not, I, the eldest son, am not afraid of losing! But what is this supposed to mean? Is this how the Young Family treats guests?”
The moment anger exploded, Jace Will’s facade crumbled instantly.
“I’m serious.” Julius Reed leaned back in his chair, tapping the table lightly with his middle finger, chuckling: “What? Don’t believe me? Give me one Swimming City Currency, and I’ll immediately kill Kamden Will!”
“Why?” Jace Will furrowed his brows in confusion.
According to his expectations, the other party would never make such a demand.
He had even brought a counterfeit Seven-Pulse Holder weapon.
“You… don’t want anything else?” Jace Will forced an awkward smile. “You’re helping me with such a major favor—I must reward you thoroughly. Besides, once Kamden Will is dead, Father will definitely make things difficult for you. If Sir only requires a Swimming City Currency, I would feel incredibly uneasy.”
Why not ask him for a Vein Holder weapon?
Then the prepared lines, wouldn’t they be rendered useless?
Could it be that the intelligence was wrong?
Perhaps this man came to Swimming City not for Seven-Pulse Holder weapons?
Once back, he must have those responsible for intelligence ripped to shreds!
Negligence!
“Then please leave.” Julius Reed stood up, visibly displeased: “Escort them out!”
“Wait!” Silas Will spoke from the side: “Young Master, it’s rare for this gentleman to offer assistance. Shouldn’t you be thanking him?”
With his mentor’s reminder, Jace Will regained his composure.
“Thank you, Sir. One Swimming City Currency…” Jace Will fumbled around but found, embarrassingly, he hadn’t brought any money.
He turned around to see Silas Will similarly holding out empty hands.
People of their status had long since abandoned the habit of carrying money.
“You see, we left in haste, so why not…” Jace Will awkwardly looked at Julius Reed.
“Isn’t that one hanging around your neck?” Julius Reed pointed at the Swimming City Currency tied around Jace Will’s neck with a red string. He said calmly: “If you hadn’t come, I’d still plan to kill Kamden Will. Charging you one Swimming City Currency is merely to make you pay a price. A gesture, you know?”
“Very well!” Jace Will removed the Swimming City Currency hanging on the red string from his neck and handed it to Julius Reed: “Much obliged.”
This was the Swimming City limited-edition currency personally gifted by the City Lord, each engraved with a unique number.
But to Jace Will, the item was useless.
“Hm.” Julius Reed accepted the currency and crushed it in his palm.
Then he released his grip.
Swoosh…
In his palm, metal dust fell gently to the ground.
“Bring Kamden Will here!” At Julius Reed’s command, a group entered from the rear door.
Four martial artists pressed Kamden Will, who was covered in injuries, and dragged him into the Crystal Hall.
“Brother? Did you come to rescue me?” Seeing Jace Will, Kamden Will, battered and bruised, lit up with joy: “Please save me!”
“Don’t worry, you’ll soon be free.” Jace Will curled his lips into a cold smile, openly displaying his eager anticipation.
“Brother, Father… why did he…”
Bam!
Before he finished.
Julius Reed spread his right hand, and a condensed energy burst forth from his fingers, piercing through Kamden Will’s chest and dissipating into the air.
Splatter!
Kamden Will’s chest erupted into a mist of blood, his entire body collapsing onto the ground.
He died with unfulfilled grievances.
Stomp!
Silas Will stepped forward, pressing one hand onto Kamden Will’s body.
“Dead.” He turned back and nodded at Jace Will.
“Really?” Jace Will seemed genuinely excited. “May I take my brother’s remains? Thank you, Sir, for today!”
He bowed deeply.
This joy was genuine.
“His corpse will be hung at the Young Family’s front gates as the first gift of the night for Micah Will.”
Julius Reed flicked his sleeves: “Escort them out!”
