Chapter 404 - 404 193 Territory Tour

404: Chapter 193 Territory Tour 404: Chapter 193 Territory Tour Avalon Castle is built upon the rising river valley hills, surrounded by seamlessly sculpted stone walls and towering turrets.

The Lower City District of the fortress consists of neatly organized streets formed by dozens of three-story townhouses, with elevated aqueduct bridges suspended overhead, connecting various reservoirs and water points in the district through water pipes in the archway bridge columns.

Above the Lower City lies the Central District, serving as the transit hub connecting upper and lower regions.

Several central corridors with steps in different directions, wide gentle slopes, as yet unplanted decorative flowerbeds, rows of ancient sculptures, and scattered duplex mansions are situated among them.

On the eastern side of Central City, a fortified tower slightly smaller than the square main castle is connected by a suspension bridge to the city wall.

Surrounded by arenas and training grounds, this is a barracks and part of the city’s defense system.

The protruding area on the west side of Central City, however, consists of workshop buildings abandoned for years.

When the craftsmen accompanying the Thorny Flower Family moved in, they only utilized a few obvious forges inside the workshops.

Many peculiar facilities, the purpose of which was unknown, either appeared broken or their function remained completely mysterious.

It wasn’t until the nine stout, bearded figures brusquely pushed aside the Thorny Flower craftsmen and obtained an ample amount of expensive materials and oil from Leon, that some of the slightly damaged forging machinery once again burst into a resounding clang within the workshop.

Above the Central District lies the Northeast Corner of Avalon Castle, as well as the Fountain Square in a somewhat central location towards the northwest, and the Upper City where the Mage Tower is situated on the top level.

At this moment, Leon was leaning against the railing on the high platform of the Upper City, gazing out over the entire Avalon City.

Overlooking the low buildings, farmland, and the Windmill Mill under construction stretching beyond the city walls.

Watching the Thorny Flower garrison and Avalon soldiers patrol back and forth, and the people moving to and fro on the streets, a unique sense of security spontaneously arose within him.

He recalled Olivia once asking him what kind of future he desired.

Looking over the current territory under his governance, it seemed that most of that expectation had already been realized.

A fortress full of security, surrounded by friends and family, and the territory under his governance flourishing with vibrant development.

…..Unfortunately, this world is always like a restless tree swept by the winds.

Order is a luxury; without strong military force ensuring safety, keeping the scourge of war outside the territory, the idyllic pastoral scenery could turn into a hellish wasteland littered with corpses overnight.

Memories of the original owner flashed through his mind, cruel scenes pulling Leon back from his sentiments, turning around as he walked down the staircase back to the Central District.

The organization’s inauguration ceremony had been postponed for ten days and was finally held yesterday.

It wasn’t because of any mishap; it’s just that Lokhak and Knight Larian’s operation to clear the mine with soldiers took considerably longer than expected before they sluggishly returned with the troops.

Upon their report, most branch passages in the underground mine ended at dead ends, and the Wild Goblins remaining inside had nowhere to flee, being cornered underground by the soldiers.

However, apart from the main passageway and platform top’s ventilation shaft, there are still two extended mine tunnels connecting with the surface.

One entrance was discovered by Leon near the earth vein branch.

Meanwhile, the other, astonishingly extending all the way to Mamor County in the east, was discovered by the Ranger Knight tracking the Wild Goblins’ tracks.

Larian found out this location only after passing through a long mine tunnel, exploring deep into the surface wilderness, and inquiring with local villagers.

Upon learning this news from Larian, Leon immediately decided to send someone to seal off the tunnel leading to Mamor at its end.

In case other lord forces occupying the western Mamor discovered the Nightmare Forest’s underground resources, who knows how much covetous desire that might ignite.

As for the returning Dwarves.

Upon delving into the main tunnel and discovering that it had collapsed over the millennia, they disappointedly embarked on their long journey home.

According to the current map, the Dwarves would first travel all the way north, crossing the border of the Boraiden Territory and deep into the northern mountains.

That’s where the closest Helarn city to Orland exists in their memory.

If they couldn’t find their kin there, they would continue along the mountains eastward, even crossing the Wound of Omlos to the mountain wilderness of the Eastern Continent, in search of their comrades.

This journey spans literal miles, and Leon couldn’t help but admire the Dwarves’ persistence; simply hearing the route described by Hem made him sweat, and all he could do was wish them luck…

…After seeing off the distant Dwarves, the subsequent Knight Order establishment ceremony went off without a hitch.

Apart from the four Thorny Flower Knights who swore their allegiance, Leon also bestowed the knight title upon the six earliest selected guards from wheel battle selection.

From then on, each had their own surname and emblem.

Hawk chose a horseshoe as his symbol, while Zabron used a battle axe design; Brunan’s emblem was a maple leaf, Baville, perhaps accustomed to his instrument, used a horn, Bozi went with an oak tree, and Dadaniel’s emblem featured three upright long spears.

Beyond these six, Uncle Bryan also accepted the title conferment.

Even though he had originally been knighted by Olivia’s biological father, after hiding his identity for many years, he was merely seen as a civilian by outsiders, unable to use his name from the first half of his life.

To enable him to better lead the army in the future, Leon, after discussing with him, decided to doubly bestow another knight title upon his father-in-law.

Since Bryan couldn’t use his former family emblem, he simply chose a plain gray backdrop adorned with a red broken sword in memory of his past identity.
