Chapter 374 - 374 179 Thunder_3
374: Chapter 179 Thunder_3 374: Chapter 179 Thunder_3 He sighed and began to explain his recent investigations.
“Lately, there have been odd occurrences where lightning strikes on clear days straight into the city.
I’ve heard from the soldiers at the Thorny Flower Camp that rumors are now spreading from the taverns outside the city suggesting the Cursed Land will once again envelop the forest.”
Azeryan felt somewhat helpless.
Although the situation wasn’t severe enough to cause people to flee, the continuous series of bizarre occurrences were causing unrest among the citizens both inside and outside the city walls, and he did not know what was going on or how to dispel the rumors and reassure the people.
Struck the city?
Leon suddenly had a realization.
“I didn’t see it when I was in the main castle just now.
You said the lightning struck the city?
Where exactly?”
In this area, where else could such supernatural occurrences be more expected than at the Mage Tower, inhabited by an Ancient Pope?
Hearing Leon’s question, Azeryan turned and looked towards the upper levels of the Fountain Square to the northwest, pointing at the innermost cliff, “Right there.
There used to be children playing on the square frequently, but now no one dares to go near it.”
Just as expected…
Leon was reassured.
It must be Lola’s doing.
He then realized that up to this point, both Azeryan and Lokhak were unaware of the presence of Lola and the Mage Tower.
“Don’t worry, I think I know what’s happening,” Leon patted his shoulder and continued, “There’s no time like the present.
Where’s Lokhak?
Today I’ll take you both to meet a significant person.”
“A significant person?
Who?” Azeryan asked, puzzled.
“My Magic mentor, also our lifesaver on the road from our initial escape…
By the way, you never asked where I learned my Spells,” Leon chuckled.
Azeryan gave a slight start before recalling how the other had once shouted into the air strangely, then shook his head.
“I’m just an ordinary person, not a Magician.
Knowing too much is pointless for me.”
“You’ll need to know, even if you don’t want to,” Leon shook his head and dragged him to find Lokhak.
They spent some time at the Thorny Flower Camp’s training ground and found Lokhak wrestling with the soldiers.
Led by Leon, the three of them arrived at Fountain Square and climbed the steps to stand before the façade hiding the Mage Tower.
“Listen carefully to my spell and observe my handprints, but don’t worry if you can’t remember it, I’ll teach you more in the future.”
After making preparations, Leon led them through the illusion of the Magic Veil.
As expected, the breathtaking scene ahead surprised them both.
But they had already witnessed the more spectacular and terrifying experiences of the Cursed Land, so they didn’t lose their composure.
Pushing open the grand door, they entered the opulent circular hall.
Azeryan and Lokhak followed Leon onto the polished floor, craning their necks to marvel at the magnificent dome and the columns.
“Hmm, there lies the real throne of this ancient fortress; the main castle we reside in now was just the office for staff hence there’s no throne in the main hall, only emblems,” Leon pointed at the Mage Throne on the high platform ahead.
“Holy Prophet above, these pillars…
this glass…
what gems are these embedded with…
what light?
So bright?
Magic?…
Is this railing solid silver?
Could a celestial being have lived here?” Lokhak observed everything around, his eyes almost popping out, thinking if it wasn’t his brother’s domain, he might have tried to pry some of the gems out.
“Leon, you’re not going to tell me the owner of this place is still alive, are you?” Azeryan asked, astonished.
He recalled Leon mentioning that this fortress was built over a thousand years ago in the Eternal City.
“No, the Lady Aphrodite who once resided here had passed away long ago…” Leon glanced back at the empty throne, bowed inwardly to the lady with pink hair and eyes like twinkling stars, grateful for the legacy and knowledge she had left which aided him.
“That’s right, aside from the great Holy Prophet who protected humanity for thousands of years, no one else could live that long, not even the Magicians with their Spells.”
Azeryan relaxed somewhat.
Even though they had gone through the unbelievable adventure in the Cursed Land, the idea of meeting someone from a thousand years ago was still too shocking, a time when the Holy Prophet was still alive.
“…I am leading you to meet her teacher.”
?” Azeryan raised an eyebrow and moved his lips.
He sighed in resignation, feeling that following Leon, nothing would surprise him anymore.
“The original owner’s teacher?
Still alive?
That would make her at least over a thousand years old,” Lokhak gasped, his eyes widening like saucers.
“Not exactly alive, but still existing in a Spiritual Body form.
Maybe she…
well, she might have lived for at least a thousand years during her lifetime.”
Leon was about to say she might have died of natural causes, but remembered the scripture stories from the original owner’s memories, where the Holy Prophet was indeed said to have lived for thousands of years before ascending to heaven.
Wait a minute.
Seeing Lokhak’s astonished expression, Leon suddenly realized something else.
He, an unbeliever from Earth, although initially shocked by Lola’s identity, was ultimately just fascinated by meeting a significant figure.
However, his two friends, Seryan and Illaril-born believers of the Holy Sun Sect…
