Knights and Magic Wand -
Chapter 373 - 373 179 Thunder_2
373: Chapter 179 Thunder_2 373: Chapter 179 Thunder_2 Olivia couldn’t wait to try the bathhouse yesterday; by now, she must be inside, luxuriating in the extravagance of an ancient Lorelette civilization.
Leon looked at the tightly shut door.
His ears twitched, as if he could hear the chatter of his wife inside.
…Of course, it was an illusion.
The thickly carved door and stone walls isolated the sounds inside the bathhouse from the outside.
Leon couldn’t hear anything.
He did want to join Olivia for a romantic bath.
Unfortunately, at this hour, it was likely that Miss Treya, who followed the young lady like a shadow, or even Elena and Lady Martha, might also be inside…
He would have to arrange a time with Olivia in advance to enjoy it alone together in the future.
Leon, regretfully, continued on towards the Treasury.
Arriving at the storage room, which was temporarily guarded by two rotating Guards, he unlocked the door and deactivated the Warning Magic Kovis had set up.
Leon strode past the chests holding thousands of gold crowns and the array of Armor, stopping in front of a Sword Box on the rack.
This was the gift he had hidden from Olivia and Kovis for several days, just so he could surprise them during the upcoming coronation ceremony.
Opening the Sword Box, two beautiful weapons lay quietly within.
Both were protected by brown-red leather-wrapped, embroidered sheaths.
Though made by the same Farolis Swordsmith, the shapes of the swords were quite different, according to the specifications Leon had explicitly requested.
From the exterior, one could see that one of the swords was a standard long sword.
The other, its specifications lay between a long sword and a great sword.
Picking up the one of normal length, Leon drew the sword from its sheath, admiring the fine main-gauche long sword.
The arc-shaped winged sword guard, the fishtail-shaped counterbalance pommel, the ridged hilt, all tightly bound with gray cord.
In the center of the guard, a specially reserved groove had not yet been inlaid with a gem, and the originally smooth V-shaped blade had four fullers at strategic positions.
Near the guard on the blade, inscribed in Lorelette Language, was the word “Friendship.”
This was the gift he planned to bestow on Kovis, to make amends for the loss of the latter’s Enchanted Light Sword during the battle with Mage Emmon.
This main-gauche style long sword, Leon had asked the Swordsmith to follow the design he had drawn, leaving space for grooves to be inlaid with Enchantments later.
Using the tools and materials from the Mage Tower workshop and his current understanding of “Magic Technique Study,” even if he did the work himself, he could imbue it with effects similar to those small spells on the previous Rune Light Sword, such as lighting, ignition, and auxiliary control.
However, Leon had no intention of meddling with it himself.
A shaky hand could easily bungle the job; it was safer to ask Lola to lend her effortless aid.
Putting away the “Friendship” long sword, Leon returned it to its place and then picked up the other, clearly heavier, larger, and longer Two-Handed Sword.
An octagonal window pommel, Gothic-style squared winged guard patterns, a front handle of carved ebony, and a rear with pure silver wire winding, the blade—about three fingers wide—with a triple-ringed ridge and double fullers.
This was a substantial heavy battlefield sword.
On the broad blade, Lorelette script was etched saying, “Oath and Victory.”
This, of course, was the weapon that was to be given to Olivia.
Despite the inscription, this sword bore no resemblance to the EX Curry Stick in shape.
Considering the girl’s unique constitution, unless he had the capability to get a weapon from the Flame Sun Guard, ordinary Enchanted Weapons would be weaker than Mortal Iron for her.
Even more fragile Rune Weapons might even break under her use.
Thus, Leon did not request anything fancy.
He simply asked the Swordsmith to forge a heavy sword that didn’t skimp on weight, with as much strength and power as possible…
Initially, Leon hesitated about crafting a weapon for Olivia with an appearance similar to “Excalibur,” but he quickly dismissed the idea.
After all, this wasn’t a cosplay exhibition; he hoped the daily Sword he gave the girl would be a truly practical weapon.
Moreover, the appearance of the curry stick from his previous life, if brought into reality, would look more like a child’s toy and nowhere near as beautiful as a real weapon.
As for the knight armor custom-designed for Olivia, it was the same.
Like the exquisite Noble Armor Ines previously wore, complete and refined protection was most perfect.
Leon had no intention of giving Olivia a COSplay prop that let in drafts, making a joke out of his wife’s life.
After appreciating the heavy Victory Sword in his hand, Leon sheathed it back into its case and was about to leave when he suddenly heard a thunderous noise that seemed almost capable of penetrating the main castle’s solid walls.
The rumbling sound was like successive thunder strikes.
With a puzzled look, Leon scanned the area.
Of course, there were no windows in the securely guarded Treasury.
But that made it even stranger.
How loud must the thunder be to be heard inside?
Leaving the Treasury, Leon walked around the cloister to the outside of the main castle.
Looking up, he saw clear skies and no sign of dark clouds or impending rain.
In his bewilderment, Leon saw Azeryan hurrying up the steps from the lower district not far away.
“Did you hear that?
The thunder just now,” Leon asked.
Azeryan gave a wry smile, “Not just me, everyone heard that terrifying thunder, both inside and outside the city.
These next few days, I’m afraid there’ll be unrest among the Subjects again.”
“Unrest?”
Azeryan nodded, “Yes, the people outside the city were originally coaxed and driven here from the Thorny Flower Territory to Avalon City to settle the land, on promises from Lord Eriv of tax reductions and land distribution.
Many of them grew up listening to the curse tales of Nightmare Forest.
If they weren’t so poor that they couldn’t get by, they would never have wanted to come here to clear the land.”
