Kissing Hellfire: Marry Me, Evil Lord
Chapter 60: Rare Ability

Chapter 60: Rare Ability

"Is this really a portal?" Lauren asked in awe. The blue fire surrounding the portal reflecting in her eyes made her blue orbs look glowing.

"Why don’t you discover it yourself," Alec replied, amazed by this side of Lauren.

Most of the time she was playful, cold, and indifferent, but this time he saw her eyes turn wide in awe like a child who saw a rainbow for the first time in her life. And unlike the moments when she was pretending, at that moment her reaction looked genuine.

"It is surrounded by blue fire. Won’t it burn me?" she asked, truly curious because blue flames were the hottest and most destructive flames especially if it was made out of a mage’s power.

Instead of answering, Alec stepped inside the portal. She watched him successfully get to the other side without a scratch. His background showed the walls in the dungeon of his mansion as they stood in front of each other with the blazing portal between them. It was like they were in two places at the same time.

He offered his hand to her, a smug smirk tugged on his lips.

"Come."

Thinking that Alec wouldn’t likely bring harm to her as like he said she was a tool he could use to get the throne, she reached for his hand and stepped into the portal. She felt the heat of the fire from his hand but it was the kind of heat that wouldn’t get you burn, but the kind that would give you warmth. She guessed it was because of the portal.

The next thing she knew, she was already in Everton’s mansion.

"See, it didn’t burn you."

She looked at him. "Did you learn it? Or is it an ability you have since birth?"

As far as she knew, it was possible for mages and vampire mages to learn spells and enhance their abilities over time but there were no books saying that superior abilities like portal-making could be learned. Rare abilities like that only showed up in the most elite bloodlines and rarely appeared in every generation.

"I discovered it when I was six, so I think I was born with it. I’m quite gifted, I must say," replied Alec cockily.

"But back when we were staying here in your mansion, I never suspected you of having such ability because you always leave and arrive with your carriage."

"Dear Lauren, some strengths are not meant for everyone to see. Besides, every ability has limitations. It is the law of nature. If I make a portal too often, it will drain my energy."

They walked in between the empty cells until they saw where Sean Devitt was. He was blindfolded and shackled while lying unconscious inside the cell. His mouth was covered with a cloth to stop him from creating unnecessary noises while he was being transported earlier.

"I forgot to ask you. Who was the person you replaced him with? Don’t tell me you put someone innocent on the scaffold?" Lauren asked.

"What do you think?" Alec shot his brow up cruelly.

Her lips parted.

"No, you didn’t..."

He cocked his head like he didn’t care.

Ready to yell at him for killing an innocent life, he spoke before she could.

"It was a criminal, don’t worry."

She was relieved.

"Don’t you know you look more beautiful when you are flustered and angry, Lauren?" he asked darkly. "It’s a shame you are unfuckable for me."

Heat rose to her cheeks at how vulgar he was. How shameless!

"If I am unfuckable for you because you want the women you bed to be very experienced, let’s discard one rule in our contract then. Do what you want with your sex life and leave me out of it. Fuck whores if you want and I won’t mind."

His eyes darkened at her.

Suddenly, a cough interrupted them.

They turned to see who was standing near the first cell. It was Matthias. Realizing that the man must have heard what she and Alec just talked about, Lauren felt embarrassed.

"What is it, Matthias?"

"Lord Alec, Princess Lauren," Matthias bowed with an unsettled look. "Uh, I didn’t mean to interrupt your talk. I was upstairs and I came down to check on the prisoner. I didn’t know you were here..." He stuck his tongue on his cheek and blinked twice, worried that what he heard might be too dangerous for his own good.

"I-I shall take my leave now," he added nervously before storming out of the dungeon as fast as the speed of light.

"He must have heard how I mentioned the contract. Does he know?" Lauren asked, thinking that he must have told some people whom he trusted like how she told Ethan and Vivian about their deal.

"He doesn’t but I know he feels something is not right with our relationship. Don’t worry about him. He won’t dare say a word."

Lauren nodded in relief. But still, she was embarrassed that Matthias heard their talk about her being unfuckable. She always took pride in how men fancied her but now she was reduced to a woman whom his husband found unfuckable? Could that even get worse?

Setting aside what just happened, Lauren opened the cell and bent down in front of Sean Devitt to get rid of his blindfold and the cloth in his mouth. She pulled a small hairpin with a sharp edge and gave Sean’s arm a cut to wake him up.

After a few seconds, the man’s eyes opened and he was surprised when he saw Lauren in front of her and the unfamiliar cell he was into. The last thing he remembered he was about to face execution as the King demanded a death punishment for him.

"W-what is this? Where am I?"

"Perhaps in hell?" Lauren replied before standing up.

Sean looked around and saw Alec outside his cell. He grew confused. He knew he was in a dungeon but it was different from the one in the castle. He could not find a single royal guard around.

"Shall we torture him now?" Alec asked which made Sean’s eyes widen.
