Kissing Hellfire: Marry Me, Evil Lord
Chapter 152: Pacified by His Warmth

Chapter 152: Pacified by His Warmth

"Didn’t you see how I can easily kill one of your kind?" Lauren swallowed the bile in her throat. She glanced at Alec’s hands on the last button of her coat.

After completely buttoning her coat, he straightened his back and met her gaze, "I did."

"And are you aware that I am a threat to you right now?"

"If you want to talk, let’s do it in the castle. You are freezing." His eyes narrowed to slits. He could see how pale her skin was due to the cold.

"Tell me what you are thinking. I know you don’t know what I am and I probably look like a monster right now, so you don’t have to pretend like this is nothing to you."

"Yes, I do have a lot of questions. But I want you out of this dark and cold place first." He looked impatient and unkind but she could see he was doing his best to give her patience.

"I can’t return like this—" A shrill cry escaped Lauren’s lips when she suddenly felt a striking pain in her chest like her heart was being clenched by thorns.

Before she could fall to her knees, Alec caught her in his arms.

"What on earth is happening, Lauren?"

Alec muttered a curse. His eyes turned crimson and his portal appeared in front of them. Without a second delay, he carried Lauren and stepped into the portal.

Lauren pressed her eyes tightly. When she opened them, her eyes had gone back to normal, but the white strands in her hair remained and she still looked very pale. They were now back in the castle and she was in the arms of Alec, both of them in the bed.

The pain slowly faded as if it did not meant to last long. But when the pain subsided, the intense cold enveloped her body. Her trembling hands were covered with frostbite and her skin was cold as ice.

"Damn, you are freezing," Alec sounded angry, frustrated, and panicking. It wasn’t the first time he had seen Lauren in a vulnerable state but he couldn’t help but be anxious every time. He had never valued anyone’s life after what happened to his family, not even his, but after he met Lauren, a lot of things had changed.

He didn’t expect what he witnessed in the woods. The snow had trampled Lauren’s trails so he had to run around the castle within a five-kilometer radius to find any trace until he picked up her scent in the woods. By the time he arrived, he found Lauren strangling a man in the air.

But it was a different Lauren. She had full white eyes, hair mixed with white, long nails, and was strong enough to easily subdue a vampire. Even so, he knew it was her. He didn’t doubt it for a second.

He was surprised by what she was capable of. The sight of her absorbing the poor man’s energy was a sight to behold for him. She didn’t look monstrous in the slightest bit. She was in a white nightdress, her eyes were white, and her hair had white strands in contrast to the darkness surrounding her, which made her look like an angel committing an evil deed.

And he was her worshipper who was standing by the sideline and admiring her in the shadows.

"Hold on, Lauren," Alec whispered as he slowly descended to the tub filled with warm water. He was carrying Lauren in his arms.

Both of their bodies sunk into the tub, fully clothed. Alec elevated his arm where Lauren’s head was, while her whole body was under the water.

He ran her thumb on her cheek gently. Feeling the warmth of Alec’s finger on her cheek, Lauren lifted her heavy eyelids. She slowly stopped trembling as the coldness was replaced by warmth.

Before she met Alec, she tried bathing in warm water to fight the cold at times like this, but every time she did, her condition affected the water’s temperature so it becomes cold too soon. It never helped her, but when Alec did it, the warmth of the water doesn’t change. She believed that it was because Alec was a vampire mage who could conjure fire and he was heating the water using his powers.

"Thank you," she was able to mutter in a weak voice. It was only then she realized Alec saved her again, which she doubted anyone else could do. It was like his ability was meant to subdue her condition, to pacify her with his soothing flames.

"I don’t accept a simple thank you. You should express your gratitude in a more sincere way later," Alec said sternly but his eyes held warmth. He was gently stroking Lauren’s hair as he stared down at her.

Lauren closed her eyes again and it remained that way for the next moments. She felt weak but not weak enough to be incapable of keeping her eyes open but she couldn’t hold Alec’s gaze for too long with her in his arms.

She didn’t know what to feel after what happened. Alec saw what she had been hiding for years. The side of her no one knows except Darius. She expected the worst scenarios, but this was not definitely one of them. How could he still look at her as if nothing had changed? How could he still hold her so close knowing that he didn’t know what else she was capable of?

How could someone’s affection be so pure that it had no bounds...

She did not know how long they stayed that way. Alec didn’t say anything too and just let her have her time to ease her body and mind.

After what seemed like a long hour of being under the warm water, Lauren’s temperature went back to normal. The strands of white in her hair returned to their original color, and the pain in her chest did not come back even without taking pacifier. She believed sucking someone’s energy and Alec’s warmth helped her get through the night.
