Chapter 839: Chapter 827: The Ancient Dragon Who Desires to be Hired Chapter 839: Chapter 827: The Ancient Dragon Who Desires to be Hired “It’s time to awaken them!” Prince Muria rose from his throne, ready to rouse his most powerful legion, a legion that would obey only his commands.
“Your Majesty, nine Ancient Dragons have come to visit!” A Storm Giant entered and reported to Muria. The sudden news prompted Muria to sit back down, and then he watched as nine Ancient Dragons, maintaining their Dragon People forms, entered the hall.
“What brings you here to see me?” Muria asked with a kindly smile as he looked at the Ancient Dragons. Some of them were “invited” by him, while others were Ancient Dragon Professors sent by the Dragon King to teach at the Dragon Clan Academy.
The presence of these Ancient Dragons made the Five-Colored Dragon Army he had envisioned a reality; thus, Muria was quite polite to them. Of course, these Metallic Ancient Dragons and the other dragon offspring had taught many elite Five-Colored Dragons and nurtured many more exceptional Giant Dragons. For the new generation of the Dragon Race, surpassing their parents was not an issue at all.
Overall, it was a mutually beneficial process. Muria provided the location and some of the resources, serving as the most important coordinator, merging the Dragon Race resources and Giant Dragons from various powers, because of his identity, he had the qualifications to do so, and no dragon would dare to disobey him.
“Your Majesty, we have a matter we wish to inquire about with you?” The Ancient Dragons glanced at each other, then one with a particularly unique appearance spoke first.
His eyes rippled with azure waves, as if holding a deep lake within them. This was a water-related Giant Dragon, yet not one of the Black Dragons among the Five-Colored Dragons, nor a Green Bronze Dragon from the Metallic Dragon Clan. It was an offspring of the Dragon King, a Sea Dragon.
“What matter? Feel free to ask.”
“We heard that Your Majesty is planning to wage war on the Senapus Subcontinent, known as the Evil God’s Paradise?”
“Indeed, it seems the news travels fast!” Muria chuckled; he had only just given the command when Ancient Dragons not under his command came asking about it. Although he hadn’t issued any order of silence, the speed of the news spreading still displeased him somewhat.
“Your Majesty, it wasn’t other dragons that told me this news but rather deduced from the movements of personnel in Xena Pus,” hastily added another Ancient Dragon upon seeing Muria’s expression, anxious to prevent any unfortunate misunderstanding.
“Hmm!” Muria nodded noncommittally, believing in the Ancient Dragons’ wisdom to infer his intentions from resource movements in Xena Pus.
“Your Majesty, I wish to ask if you are indeed moving Xena Pus toward Evil God’s Paradise?”
“Indeed!” Muria nodded readily in acknowledgment when he heard the question. There was nothing to hide or deceive about it, as this war was intended to be aboveboard.
Hearing Muria’s frank admission, the many Ancient Dragons exchanged looks, their eyes revealing ambiguous meanings.
Muria’s actions were somewhat underhanded, implying a forceful drag into the conflict. It was important to note that the educational district of the Dragon Clan Academy was almost entirely situated within Xena Pus, now covering more than one third of Cloud Island.
And if Muria took Xena Pus to Evil God’s Paradise, once the war began, the Dragon Clan Academy couldn’t possibly remain uninvolved. The Ancient Dragons, who came with the mission to teach, could very well be forced into the conflict under inevitable circumstances.
Frankly, it was not that they couldn’t fight the war; as long as they were paid enough, anything would do. After all, they were well aware of what kind of riffraff resided in Evil God’s Paradise. However, to be coerced in such a manner seemed a bit unseemly!
“Your Majesty, this…” Thus, an Ancient Dragon wanted to express some concerns, to say it straight if help was needed in the fight. It wasn’t as if they were unwilling to help; as long as there was payment, it would suffice. Why resort to such tactics?
“I know, moving Xena Pus directly over to Senapus Subcontinent might seem inappropriate, but it’s not like there’s no other way. I need Xena Pus to serve as a transit hub for transportation. Without Xena Pus, I cannot launch an attack on Senapus,” Muria explained with a smile to the Ancient Dragons, clarifying his reason for waging war on Xena Pus. He truly hadn’t planned on dragging these Ancient Dragons into the battle; it was merely a coincidence.
Thus, he gave the Ancient Dragons, who wished to take advantage of the situation financially, an assurance,
“Don’t worry about the war. Although Xena Pus is in the war zone, I can guarantee that the flames of war will definitely not spread to the Dragon Clan Academy, nor will it disrupt the academic order there. Rest assured, this war will not interfere with you.”
“No, Prince Muria, we have no significant objections to you moving Xena Pus above Senapus. We don’t find anything wrong with that, after all, you’re seeking revenge, and we can’t possibly stop you.”
“Ahem, Your Majesty, the main reason we are here is to inquire if you are short of hands. If you are, would it be possible for us to be summoned to your aid? We would definitely help you out.”
Compared to the shy demeanor of the other dragon, another sapphire ancient dragon was much more straightforward, nearly telling Muria outright that he wanted to make money and to just pay up; as long as there was money involved, he’d be ready to work immediately.
“As for manpower, I don’ need any at the moment. If I do, I’ll inform you,” Muria replied with a slight smile, politely but firmly crushing the ancient dragons’ hopes.
He’d have to be full to the brim and bursting to go to the lengths of hiring so many ancient dragons to fight this war for him. The strength of his own forces was not lacking, and these ancient dragons seemed to think he was some rich fool with money to burn. The war was bound to be a long one, and hiring dozens of ancient dragons would burn money faster than actual flames.
Furthermore, while these ancient dragons were strong, most of their power was only at the early and middle stages of legend, with very few at the high legendary level, lacking the kind of absolute martial force that could settle matters with one strike.
To Muria, their existence was like chicken ribs: tasteless when eaten but too good to throw away. Yet to procure these chicken ribs, he would have to pay a price higher than their worth, which left Muria with no inclination whatsoever to ask for their help.
“That will be all for now. I have some matters concerning this war to attend to, so I’ll take my leave,” Muria said with a smile, then he turned and vanished from the hall.
Muria arrived at a vast Star Gate, finally adjusting the coordinates before entering the gate and crossing the long Void to arrive in a medium-sized world.
Upon his appearance, a Tyrannosaurus with a horn like a crescent blade on its forehead ran up to him and nudged his hand affectionately.
“Good child,” Muria patted the head of the battle beast. Around the Star Gate, there were many of these battle beasts, all of which crowded around Muria when he appeared, displaying their fondness for him.
After calming these single-horned Dragon Beasts, Muria looked up at the sky, where one after another, blue-eyed White Feather Giant Eagles circled.
“Roar!” A majestic Dragon Chant rang from the distance. Muria saw the sky gradually tinted gold, and amidst the golden twilight that covered half the sky, a slender and elegant dragon silhouette, escorted by many dragon-like serpentine creatures, approached from the horizon.
This Golden Dragon, whose wingspan could cover the sky, landed before Muria and transformed into a stunningly beautiful young woman, who could make heaven and earth lose their luster.
“Muria, you’re here! All the legions, I’ve already started awakening them. They will assemble here in a few days.”
“How many have you awakened?” Muria asked the Golden Dragon Mother, recalling that at his wedding, the Epic Titan had given him a plethora of seeds of their respective subordinate armies. With a simple blood pact, he could ensure their absolute loyalty to him and their obedience to his commands.
However, Muria had received only the seeds of the subordinate armies, not a fully formed fighting force. To have these individuals serve him, he’d need to spend time hatching them, then invest time in training them before breeding and expanding their numbers.
It was obvious that Muria hadn’t spent too much time on these tasks. After his marriage, he had dedicated most of his time to reading and absorbing knowledge. The breeding of the subordinate armies was left to those closest to him.
Naturally, Muria entrusted the task of breeding his subordinate armies to his mother, the Dragon mother Atreus. Of course, this was not done for free; even though they were mother and son, they had to keep clear accounts. As compensation for the Dragon mother Atreus assisting him in cultivating these minions, she would receive the seeds of the legions given to Muria by the Epic Titan.
This was a condition that Muria had actively proposed. He felt he had more seeds of the subordinate armies than he could use— so many that he couldn’t finish using them all. Therefore, it only made sense to gift a portion of them to someone else.
When it came to something as significant as this, it was only natural to give them to his mother. Though the Dragon mother Atreus had consciously begun to cultivate her own minions since her ascent to legend, the Dragon Beasts she had collected and nurtured from around the world naturally could not compare to the battle beasts specifically created for warfare by the Epic Titans.
“I’ve raised about three million of these legions so far, mainly those battle beasts given to you by your grandfather. I’m more familiar with those. As for other Epic Titans’ minions, I haven’t cultivated many for you.”
“Hmm, among these battle beasts, how many have become legendary?” Muria asked. The minions created by the Epics for battle naturally had immense potential, with virtually every one of them capable of ascending to legend.
Of course, potential was just that— potential. To ascend to legend, each battle beast would have to undergo countless battles, and even if they reached legendary status, they could not enjoy the lengthy lifespans like the legends of Elasia.
