Chapter 1129 - 1129 1116 You Can Call Me the Savior

Chapter 1129: Chapter 1116: You Can Call Me the Savior Chapter 1129: Chapter 1116: You Can Call Me the Savior “What are these? Are they also Desolate Beasts?”

Confusion, surprise, fear, and anticipation—a mix of complex emotions surfaced in the minds of the patrol team, including the Divine Machine Users, because the scene unfolding before them had surpassed their understanding, and they could not comprehend how such a situation could occur.

“They shouldn’t be, Desolate Beasts don’t engage in fratricidal conflict.”

“Then what are these powerful creatures?”

“Guessing is pointless. If you want to know the answer, why not just ask Fenrir directly?”

“Of course that would be good, but who will go?” Soma spoke up, his gaze fixed on the Divine Machine User who made the suggestion, “Why don’t you go then?”

“Captain, don’t joke with me. My frail body wouldn’t be enough to fill one of those monsters’ bellies for a bite. Captain, with your strength being the strongest, you should be the one to go!” The Divine Machine User who suggested inquiring directly to Muria said with a forced smile.

At this moment, Muria was surrounded by hundreds of Giant Dragons, and even the smallest of these dragons seemed capable of utterly destroying their entire patrol team with a mere movement of its claws.

“My life’s pursuit is to die in battle against Desolate Beasts.” Soma, who had been forcibly crowned with a protagonist’s aura by the world, spoke up, equally filled with wariness towards these Giant Dragons.

He had witnessed the terrifying battle capabilities of the Giant Dragons. The first one that emerged, the red Giant Dragon which appeared to be the strongest, had merely circled in the sky for a period of time and eradicated all the Desolate Beasts in this area, effectively clearing the field.

This level of destructive power was beyond his comprehension. In his knowledge, it seemed that no Divine Machine User possessed such combat strength. In other words, this was an existence that humans were simply incapable of dealing with.

However, the patrol team, due to the deterrence of the Giant Dragons, dared not approach Muria, although Muria wouldn’t ignore them as these humans still had their uses.

“Alright, everyone behave.” Muria looked at the disorderly Giant Dragons, which could hardly be said to have any form of discipline, and rebuked them.

Because of their astonishingly high average individual strength, it was generally difficult for Giant Dragons to cooperate in battle. Expecting them to obey orders like an army was almost impossible.

Of course, the Giant Dragons under Muria’s command were still capable of coordinated combat against powerful enemies, and in formal situations, they could form a formation impressive enough to shock onlookers.

Thus, even if they were malevolent dragons, there was still some semblance of discipline within Muria’s ranks. So when they heard his scolding, these dragons, who had each been doing their own thing, finally settled down, bowed their heads, and looked at Muria’s tiny figure, waiting for his orders.

Walking through ruins ablaze with flames, Muria approached the befuddled yet expectant armored troop, facing the dozen or so Divine Machine Users who had gathered together, watching him with wary eyes.

“Fenrir, can you explain what’s going on?” Muria took the initiative to approach them, and Soma, the team leader, was the most appropriate person to ask the question.

“As you can see, these are my Minions.”

“Um, what do you mean by Minions?” A female Divine Machine User cautiously asked.

“Servants, followers, subordinates… Minions are similar in nature. You can understand it that way, although, the difference is that Minions will never betray.”

“Does that mean I can understand that you can order these powerful beings to do anything at will?”

“More or less, but if I order them to face an overwhelmingly powerful enemy they cannot defeat, they’d probably be reluctant.”

Muria thought for a moment and then seriously replied.

“So you’re saying these beings are here because of you, Fenrir. Then, if I may ask, who are you exactly? Or rather, what are you?”

Soma stared intently at Muria, clenching his hands involuntarily as he asked the question.

These incredibly powerful monsters were summoned by the young man who seemed no different from anyone else in front of them and even bowed to him. If he didn’t treat this situation with seriousness, he would be a fool.

“My existence is beyond your understanding. However, you can call me a savior!”

Muria, no longer intending to hide, openly admitted his otherworldly identity and also revealed his purpose for descending upon this place.

“A savior?” The humans hearing Muria’s response all looked at one another, bewildered—it was an answer completely outside the scope of their expectations.

“I… don’t quite understand what you mean.” Similarly confounded, Soma paused momentarily before carefully responding. At the same time, a flame kindled in his heart, a flame called hope.

“Don’t think too much into it. It’s exactly what it sounds like. My purpose for coming here is to save your world from impending destruction.” Muria replied with a gentle smile, knowing that the shock he had brought to these humans was indeed tremendous.

If it weren’t for the backing of a hundred or more dragons, Muria reckoned that the moment he declared himself a savior, these Divine Machine Users in front of him might have likely sent him to the base’s Recuperation Room.

After all, in such a desperate and oppressive world, it wasn’t uncommon for Divine Machine Users fighting day after day to suffer from mental breakdowns under the immense pressure.

“Oh, that’s not correct, let me clarify, saving your world can only be considered my secondary purpose.”

Muria added another sentence, he no longer hoped to gain source power by saving this world eroded by the Evil God, because in a certain sense, this world was too impoverished. To extract a drop of source power from it was essentially no different from directly destroying it.

“Then what is your primary purpose?” Soma had already begun to use honorifics unconsciously, which was an instinctive reverence that the weak have for the strong, no matter which world it was.

“Don’t be nervous, I have no ill intentions towards you or your world, I am here to find the owner of the monsters you call Desolate Beasts.”

“The owner of the Desolate Beasts?” The humans listening to Muria were bewildered once again, as they were just learning for the first time that the Desolate Beasts, which had pushed them to the brink of exhaustion, actually had a master.

Subconsciously, no one questioned the truth of Muria’s words, because this unknown being in front of them simply had no need to deceive them.

“You can call him a Void Evil God, an existence that becomes stronger by destroying and devouring worlds. These Desolate Beasts are his minions.”

“Evil God!” Just hearing Muria’s simple description and characterization made Soma tremble involuntarily in body and soul.

Since dealing with Desolate Beasts was already driving them to their limits, he could hardly imagine there being an entity above them that could command the beasts. How could such a being be defeated?

At this thought, Soma’s gaze involuntarily shifted to Muria, who had already made it clear that he had descended upon their world to combat that very Evil God that sought its destruction.

“Don’t worry, this is my enemy, you don’t need to concern yourselves with it, just act as if it doesn’t exist,” Muria reassured them.

Seeing the humans shiver at just a fragment of the information he revealed, Muria’s smile grew even more gentle!

“What can we do?” asked a cautious young Divine Machine User.

“You just need to cooperate with my minions to purge the Desolate Beasts within the world.”

“What’s the use of that? Will it affect your battle with that Evil God?”

“No,” Muria answered their question with a smile, “but your actions will help me draw out the true form of the Evil God more quickly.”

“Uh, you mean that Evil God isn’t in this world?”

“Of course not, if he descended upon your world, by then it would almost be time for its destruction.”

“So we have no other choice?” Upon hearing Muria’s words, hesitation flickered in the eyes of several Divine Machine Users.

“Do not harbor any delusions or expectations about the Evil God that seeks to destroy the world; its Descent is only a matter of sooner or later.”

As if able to penetrate the hearts of men, Muria saw clearly what these Divine Machine Users were thinking,

“Even if you do not slay the Desolate Beasts, once they have destroyed your world to a certain degree, the Evil God will still descend.”

“Is there no other choice then?”

“Having reached this point, what more could you hope for?” Muria raised an eyebrow, “I’ve already said that I am the savior of your world, the outcome of my battle with the Evil God will determine the future of your world. If I fall, your world will descend into its end. If I emerge victorious, your world will continue, and you will have a chance to rebuild civilization.”

“Captain Soma, do you believe what Fenrir said is true? About the Void Evil God wanting to destroy our world, and about a savior and such.”

In a convoy heading back to the base, aboard an armored vehicle, a Divine Machine User asked the most experienced and oldest among them, Soma.

“Though I would like to deny it, just look at those mighty beings above our heads called dragons.”

Soma looked up at the sky, where above their convoy, hundreds of majestic, graceful creatures were soaring in the sky,

“How could I deny what the being posing as Fenrir has said?”

“He could be deceiving us.”

“What would such a being gain by deceiving us? Any one of the minions he summoned could wipe us out completely; to him, we are probably as insignificant as the dust scattered in the air.”

“So what he said about helping us modify the Divine Machines is also true?”

“Assuming everything this entity says is true, he and the Evil God who seeks to destroy our world are on the same level, so it should be true.”
