Chapter 201: I Just Don’t Want You To Hate Me
A few hours later they woke up in the afternoon, of course it made them surprised because they had actually intended to tour the area of the inn but they actually overslept until the afternoon. However, they still ended up making plans to go around that afternoon.
"We’ll go back when it’s close to dinner, then after that we can relax and finally sleep again," Victor said when he had just changed his clothes.
"But I’m already hungry, I want something I can eat!" said Daren as he searched through the special bag he had brought with all his snacks.
Victor could only watch as his lover busily searched for a suitable snack for him to eat. Sometimes he felt confused, Daren’s appetite had increased since she became pregnant. But he felt that maybe that was one of the factors of being pregnant.
"Aren’t you worried about getting a little fat after giving birth like people are afraid of?" he asked when he saw how many snacks were in the bag.
"I can work out afterward, after all, filming also drains my energy." Daren did intend to resume his career after giving birth.
And Victor was fine with that, although they were still discussing who their child would be with when both Daren and Victor went to work at the same time.
Moreover, they are rethinking leaving their son with Viona and Edgar because they are also having a baby. Victor thought it would be better not to leave their son with them, as it could be troublesome for both of them.
"That’s true, but speaking of that I’m thinking of starting my own company. What do you think?"
"Your own company? What do you intend to do? I can help you with the capital to start that company," Daren asked.
"Just a normal security company. Like a CCTV security company. But I’m still thinking about this first," Victor said and extended his hand to Daren to help him up.
The two of them then left their cottage, walking along the path of the inn. As far as the eye could see they only saw other cottages lined up with a few steps between each other.
But the place was perfect for relaxing, as they had a garden as well as some beautiful scenery to decorate the place.
"If we go to the left it will lead to the waterfall i told you about. But since there’s no way we’re going this late in the evening, we’ll go there tomorrow," he said and then invited Daren to sit on one of the park benches overlooking the city since it was on higher ground.
"I’m sure it will look very pretty at night, especially since the colorful city lights will be visible from here," Daren commented while enjoying the bread in his hand.
"You’re right, this view is just like the hill we always go to. Do you remember the hill you always asked me to take you to?" Victor asked, to which Daren nodded his head.
He remembered that it was his favorite hill where he and Aldrich used to go together. When their father would always scold him, distinguishing him from Aldrich who was an Alpha. Aldrich always took him to that hill to comfort him.
For a moment there was silence between the two of them, until Daren suddenly said something.
"I figured it out," he said suddenly. Victor turned to him and looked at him in confusion as to what his words meant.
"What do you mean? What do you know?"
Daren fell silent again and then opened his mouth again. "About that mission of yours, the one that happened the same night he died."
He turned to stare at the alpha with a look that was quite different from his usual.
"You set the factory on fire during your mission until the ambulance came there but also to another location where it was set on fire by Aiden."
Victor was surprised that Daren knew that, but his surprise disappeared when he heard Aiden’s name. Now he understood who must have said that to him. Because it was definitely only Aiden who did.
"He said everything, even on that day if the fire hadn’t happened Aldrich would still be alive today. He would still be with me and..."
What Daren said for a moment made Victor feel a bit guilty. He had deliberately not said this to the row because he was afraid that Daren would hate him.
He knew that this wasn’t 100% his fault, considering he was just carrying out the mission he was given and at the same time there was someone who also needed help. And the crazy coincidence was right in front of him now, his boyfriend’s older brother was a victim.
He knew every little thing would definitely have a big effect. It’s just that he didn’t know that it would have an impact on his own future as well as Daren’s.
"I’m sorry, I should have said this earlier when you told me about the incident. I realized it but I tried to cover it up because I didn’t want you to hate me," Victor said.
When he first found out, Victor covered it up so that his identity wouldn’t be discovered. But now he did it for the good of both of them because he also didn’t want his omega to hate him.
"I can’t possibly hate you. I was so angry that I didn’t even reply to your messages for two days. But I realized that what I did wouldn’t change anything. Hating you won’t bring Aldrich back together with me," Daren replied as he looked down at the bread in his hands.
"Just like revenge, it won’t change anything afterward. It won’t bring back anything that was lost."
He nodded in agreement, but still felt guilty that Derren’s suffering had been caused by him.
Aldrich’s death also seemed like part of the wrong Victor had done. If only Aldrich was still alive not only was he still together with Daren, Daren’s father also wouldn’t have been so angry at him even to the point of doing bad things to Daren.
"I’m indirectly the one who made you feel the pain of your father’s anger. I guess the mission I got to come to you is one of the things for which I must pay."
Victor’s voice sounded so quiet, as if he really regretted it when he had never felt like that before.
He then turned to Daren who was just silent, feeling that the atmosphere had changed 180 degrees when they were still very romantic before.
"That’s right, you’re the biggest reason my father ended up hating me because Aldrich couldn’t be saved."
