Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 898: Your Newly Acquainted Good Friend

Chapter 898: Chapter 898: Your Newly Acquainted Good Friend

When Xu Huo was on the train, he had checked the information about this district. The overall situation was similar to what the game’s background had described, although those cities abandoned as quarantine zones were not completely hopeless. Before the cities ceased communication with the outside world, a large number of people were trapped within, most of whom died for various reasons, but there were also those who had barely survived.

Xu Huo believed that the one he had just seen was a survivor of W18, and the signs of activity within the building confirmed this.

He didn’t take off his Invisibility Cloak, simply stepping down the stairs in a "Gentleman’s Stance," and then stopped on the fifteenth floor.

There were small traps set by others in the corridor. Xu Huo simply took to the air, walking on "Balloon String," but he clearly underestimated the other person’s intelligence. Just as he reached the corner of the corridor, an electronic surveillance eye stuck on the wall blinked once—it appeared that this trigger-type camera had been modified, and had been in a dormant state before he appeared.

A good choice of location.

The person who had been hiding on this floor in one of the residences had already woken up and was escaping through the outside balcony’s passageway. Xu Huo lifted his Invisibility Cloak and directly passed through the space to intercept in the room ahead, breaking through the door to stand on the balcony!

At that moment, the young boy dressed in animal skin who was running and jumping on the balcony suddenly braked, turned around, and directly jumped down from the balcony!

The balconies of the residence were not perfectly aligned, so he agilely leaped to the one below and quickly slipped inside.

Xu Huo followed him down. Just as he reached the windowsill, several beast fangs flew towards him. He casually caught one, using it to knock away the others, and slashed open the large net that was covering from the front. When he looked up, the young boy had already disappeared without a trace.

Passing through the room into the corridor, he saw the other person looking around at the end of the corridor. Their eyes met for only a moment, and then the other person quickly rushed to jump down from the opening in the middle of the floor!

In the middle of the fourteenth floor was a hole about fifteen meters in diameter, the cause of which was unknown, but lurking in the depths of the cavern was a rather sizeable living creature.

Xu Huo appeared above the cavity and dropped down a "Balloon String" to catch the boy, and while lifting him up, he conveniently severed the rope tied around his waist. When the boy took out a glowing ball and prepared to throw it down, Xu Huo finally spoke up, "You might want to look back."

The boy sharply turned his head, but his shock was not because the rope on his back had been severed, but rather he looked at Xu Huo with a face filled with terror and despair—of course, this despair was not because he was captured, but due to the giant Eight-legged Variant that had been attracted by the sound!

In just the blink of an eye, the Eight-legged Variant that was in the bottom of the cavern had scurried up to the twelfth floor, its gigantic mouth producing an asthmatic hissing sound like the wind, as it leapt to bite the person hanging in mid-air!

The "Balloon String" was rapidly retracted, and as the boy was pulled upwards, Sword Qi flashed past. Accompanied by a scream, the wounded Eight-legged Variant fell back down, and Xu Huo threw the "Harmless Whip" towards a column on the opposite side. After wrapping it around twice, he turned it into a rope blade!

The boy, who had narrowly escaped danger, exclaimed, "Run away quick, you’re no match for it..."

Before he could finish his sentence, the Eight-legged Variant had charged up to the fourteenth floor and slammed into the "Harmless Whip"—Xu Huo didn’t have the strength to hold onto it, but he stood far away enough. As the creature burrowed into the fifteenth floor’s floorboards, he was just right to be carried over by the arched rope blade. With a sweep of the "Eye of the Deceased," he sliced open half of the abdominal cavity of the Eight-legged Variant!

The visceral fluids, green as bile, splashed out, and Xu Huo used an Air Barrier to shield himself. As he retreated, he drew a "This Way is Blocked," cutting off several of the creature’s giant legs and then tore down the ceiling.

The collapsing floorboards continued to fall, smashing the injured alien down to the fourteenth floor, but just as he was about to deliver a coup de grace to the creature, he suddenly felt a multitude of beings rapidly approaching from all around!

"The smell of blood will attract a swarm of scavenging insects, which will eat every living thing they come across!" The fury and regret in the young man’s voice were palpable.

Even the eight-legged variant no longer bothered to chase its prey, dragging its injured body underground instead.

Xu Huo moved to the balcony, noticing the exterior walls of several nearby buildings had been swiftly overrun by beetles the size of human heads, climbing quickly and converging on this building from all directions!

He grabbed the young man who was turning to run, leaped into the air, and stretched the "Gentleman’s Stance" to its limit, climbing fifty meters higher than the building’s roof with a guitar string, finally distancing themselves from the city.

The young man, dangling below like a balloon, slowly floated up. As they passed each other, Xu Huo laughed, "You stopped me from killing that alien earlier to avoid attracting the scavenging insect swarm, but with alien activity here, it’s unlikely that no bloodshed would occur, don’t you think?"

The balloon string was tied around the young man’s back, his limbs dangling downwards, too weak to remove the prop or grip the rope to turn over, left like a piglet in mid-air slowly rising while he said: "The scavenging insect swarm only hunts once a month. They have a keen sense of smell; even a bird that falls dead in the city, they could crawl up from hundreds of meters underground to devour it!"

"So they can’t fly, I presume," said Xu Huo, glancing at the ground below at the aliens being chased into corners, noting that once bitten by the scavenging insect swarm, they were completely devoured within half a minute, leaving no bones behind.

A person appeared on top of a neighboring building. As he looked back, he saw Shangguan Xi excitedly shouting at him from a hundred meters away, "Brother Xu! Brother Xu! I’m here!"

"Shouting will attract flying variants!" the young man warned immediately.

"Brother Xu! It’s me, your new friend you just made, Shangguan Xi!" With the scavenging insect swarm nearly at his heels, Shangguan Xi had no other thoughts, and seeing Xu Huo not moving, he incessantly shouted, "My flying prop’s time is up, can you give me a hand?"

"Tell him to shut up!" the young man barked.

"You shut up first," Xu Huo glanced at him, then took out "Towards the Destination," taking him through a glass-like door to Shangguan Xi’s position, then dropping down the "Harmless Whip" for him to climb up on his own.

The scavenging insect swarm had already surrounded the roof. Shangguan Xi quickly grabbed the prop, slid up the rope directly to Xu Huo’s feet, and even said, "Bro, can we go a bit higher? These stinking bugs can still jump up, damn it!"

Xu Huo adjusted the guitar string, suspended in the air between two buildings.

"Are there any other players who got off here?" asked Xu Huo.

"Yes! That Ding Wei with the book!" Shangguan Xi said with indignation, "On the vehicle, she came up to chat with me, and I thought we could at least be teammates, but when we encountered an alien, she didn’t think twice before kicking me out. If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t have needed to use my flying prop so quickly!"

"No wonder she’s always carrying a book; it seems flipping one’s face is a skill she’s practiced to be faster than flipping pages!"
