Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 899: The Proposed Deal

Chapter 899: Chapter 899: The Proposed Deal

"Don’t talk!" the boy floating above couldn’t help shouting.

Shangguan Xi glanced at him. "This person isn’t a player, right?"

"He’s probably a native here." Xu Huo warned, "Loud voices might attract the Flying Variant."

Shangguan Xi quickly closed his mouth and took out a Muffler Artefact, "Brother Xu, should we leave first? What if we really attract the Flying Variant?"

Speaking of which, under the distant sky, three gigantic variants flew over together. They were mutated eagles, with wing spans reaching ten meters, claws turned into four, teeth within their beaks, and their calls were murky rather than the crisp usual bird sounds.

"They really came!" Shangguan Xi let out a "hey," then pulled out a prop that looked like a crossbow and fired three arrows—these weren’t real crossbow arrows. Each small arrowhead had a tracking ability, each targeting one of the Flying Variants!

"Boom!" The first unlucky variant exploded into a burst of blood. The second lost half a wing and fell into a swarm of insects. The third dodged the Crossbow Arrow, but Shangguan Xi immediately pulled out a handgun.

It wasn’t a real firearm, though. Pulling the trigger, a light oval object flew out, sticking to the feathers of the Flying Variant. It burst into a dozen laser beams, piercing straight through the abdomen of the Variant.

"Work’s done!" Shangguan Xi chuckled, "Although these props are average against swarms, they’re still good enough for handling a few Variants."

Unfortunately, the two people above couldn’t grasp the confidence he felt. Xu Huo said, "Turn around and look behind you."

The noise from the exploded eagle was too loud, attracting new Flying Variants, but this time it wasn’t just a few. It was swarms!

"Brother Xu, let’s hurry up and go!" Shangguan Xi urged hastily.

Xu Huo calmly said, "My prop can only support spatial shifting for two people."

Both the floating boy and Shangguan Xi fell silent simultaneously. If there weren’t a swarm of insects below, they could hide in the big buildings, but going down now was basically a death sentence.

"I have a box we can hide in," said Shangguan Xi. "It should be safe to hide in, but I’m worried it might get carried away by the swarm."

Xu Huo looked at the direction the swarm was moving and asked, "What’s the city center like? The swarm isn’t heading there."

The boy’s face changed slightly, "That place isn’t safe either. There are two super-large Variants residing there!"

Before Xu Huo could speak, Shangguan Xi interjected, "Don’t trick me. There are no super-large Variants near W18 Base City. Are the surviving natives hiding there?"

Clearly, he was right. The older boy struggled and said to Xu Huo, "Drop me down! You guys run wherever you like, just don’t go there!"

Within moments, the Flying Variants were almost upon them. Xu Huo quickly threw a Poison bottle towards the rooftop, repelling some scavenging insects, then landed on the rooftop and took out "Emergency Shelter 101," grabbing something from both Shangguan Xi and the boy before stuffing them inside.

To enter Emergency Shelter 101 without being a holder, one would have to give up their goods. Naturally, the boy couldn’t resist Xu Huo, and Shangguan Xi only made a basic reaction before withdrawing his hands.

As the three entered the shelter and the door shut, Shangguan Xi exclaimed, "Brother Xu, this prop of yours is awesome, you could even live in here!"

Indeed, the shelter was equipped with furniture such as beds and chairs, along with some dry food and water.

Xu Huo returned the prop to him and, taking the boy who was knocking around the wall corner along, said, "Don’t randomly touch things here. Feel free to eat and drink."

The outside of Emergency Shelter 101 could withstand nuclear-level impacts, but the inside was easily damaged.

Shangguan Xi pricked up his ears to listen to the sound of the insect swarm crawling outside, "It seems the Flying Variants haven’t come down."

The boy who refused food squatted in the corner, "Without the Variants, the scavenging insect swarm isn’t scary."

"Why are you so scared of the insect swarm coming out?" Shangguan Xi poked his forehead, "There’s nothing edible nearby."

"Some small mutant creatures are edible," Xu Huo added.

The young man angrily swatted Shangguan Xi’s hand, missing and then grumbled, "It’s because of you guys that I didn’t catch anything today!"

Shangguan Xi casually shook a bag of jerky in front of him, "You don’t want something to eat?"

The young man swallowed and, with pride, turned his head away, "Who knows if it’s poisoned!"

"Not so old, but tough," Shangguan Xi stopped teasing him and turned to Xu Huo, who was sitting and resting, "Brother Xu, I have some good props here, see if any catch your eye."

Xu Huo had already checked the time and looked up, "No need to be so polite."

"It’s the least I can do," Shangguan Xi placed several props on the table, "You saved my life, a few props are nothing!"

He tactfully didn’t ask about Xu Huo picking up props and then returning them.

Seeing him in a mood that said "I won’t give up until you choose," Xu Huo casually picked one, and it turned out to be a Rank-C Item.

Surprised, he looked at the young man opposite him who smiled and nodded.

Both were pleased, except the young man squatting to the side whose stomach was growling.

Xu Huo tossed the jerky back, proposing a deal, "I need to go to W19 Base and would like a guide. If you can help with that, I can give you five kilograms of food, plus guide fees."

The young man’s eyes lit up with suspicion as he held the jerky, "Really?"

"It’s not hard for a player to find where natives hide," Xu Huo said, "You should understand this."

Shangguan Xi also spoke up, "Not forcing you to show us the way surely shows our sincerity, right?"

The young man’s expression darkened. Xu Huo glanced at Shangguan Xi, who touched his nose awkwardly, "Little bro, Brother’s just joking; we’re not bad guys. If we were, we’d have left you behind already."

The best choice for Xu Huo, who could only bring one person, was to take Shangguan Xi and leave the young man behind. Xu Huo didn’t do that, and even Shangguan Xi didn’t either, instead suggesting they leave, which said a lot.

The young man’s face eased a bit. He looked past Shangguan Xi at Xu Huo, "I don’t trust his words, I’ll agree only if you swear not to force me or my people."

Xu Huo glanced at him, "Lie detectors don’t work on players."

The young man instinctively touched his waist but remained firm, "I’ll introduce you to a guide only if you promise. Don’t underestimate the people of W18; if you threaten us, we dare to go down with you!"

"I can see," Xu Huo rested his arms on the table, crossing his hands under his chin, "How about this, six kilograms for the introduction fee, ten for the guide."

The young man stiffened his neck.

"Seven kilograms, and increase the guide fee by another two."

The young man’s gaze softened slightly.

"Three more kilograms for both the introduction and guide fees, this is your last chance. If you don’t agree, I’ll find someone else," Xu Huo withdrew, seemingly losing interest in the deal.

"Wait!" the young man blurted out.
