Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 830: Having a Clear Idea in Mind

Chapter 830: Chapter 830: Having a Clear Idea in Mind

The castle clearly harbors more secrets than just Mr. Dong, although Xu Huo isn’t yet its true master, that does not mean he should pass up on the benefits.

Bai Kou did not seem to be in a hurry either; since she had not succeeded this time, she didn’t persist and instead brought up the upcoming Noble Investiture Ceremony.

This was also a joyous occasion for Zone 011, hence the widespread publicity everywhere. The ceremony and banquet were grand affairs. For minor nobles like Xu Huo, had the Duchess not included him, he wouldn’t have a part in it.

"You’re going as well," Xu Huo said. "What role will you be playing this time?"

Last time, she was the infamous Madame Butterfly.

"An insider of the Xīnlún Church," Bai Kou replied.

"Madame Butterfly was also a member of the Xīnlún Church," Xu Huo noted. Based solely on this, he knew it most definitely wasn’t a benevolent religious organization.

"It’s just a player organization created by some broke people to make money," Bai Kou said indifferently. "Most are not good people. They concocted a religious name and a set of pretexts, helping certain individuals handle some inconvenient matters in exchange for compensation."

"But after the organization gained strength, it attracted the attention of some people with ulterior motives."

"Rong Xin’s Veyson Meni previously promoted the Xīnlún Church," Xu Huo remembered, deeply recalling the hunting of the traitor he had seen in the virtual game, "He seems to have died already."

Veyson Meni didn’t seem like a fanatic, but those brainwashed in the game were pretty zealous.

"He died on Captain Matt’s ship," Bai Kou said, gently twirling her tea cup. "There were struggles amongst the Zone 011 nobility, not only did several important nobles’ players die, but Veyson Meni, Captain Matt, and some of their supporters were killed as well."

Simply put, the banquet was also a celebration for the victors.

"Ashis Verna and a group of young members have gained more power. They are against foreign religions thus the Xīnlún Church was suppressed, and some cultists with a tainted record have been expelled," Bai Kou said, her tone languid: "But as a heretical organization, how could they easily abandon their beliefs? They would undoubtedly send successive people to expand their domain."

Xu Huo raised an eyebrow, "Do you have a history with the Xīnlún Church?"

Last time, playing the role of Madame Butterfly, she clashed with the Guile Sound Knights, interrupting Rong Xin’s trade with them, and Zone 011 would likely blame some of this on the Xīnlún Church.

With Veyson Meni dead and some Xīnlún Church members expelled, it was clear they were unwelcome. She didn’t care whether she’d be shunned or targeted by Zone 011’s people. On the contrary, she deliberately surfaced using the identity of a Xīnlún Church member; it would be implausible if there weren’t any issues.

"A grudge?" Bai Kou laughed lightly, "If I really had a grudge against them, I would have wiped them out directly."

Her attitude could be summed up in four words: Are they even worthy?

"So, you have a history with Zone 011," Xu Huo changed the subject.

"This place is too peaceful," Bai Kou mused with a distant gaze at the twinkling city lights afar, "Everyone is suffering, why should they be living so happily?"

Xu Huo paused before asking, "Should I excuse myself?"

Bai Kou turned back to look at him with a smile, "If you don’t want to be involved, just say it."

Xu Huo didn’t reply, but she then said, "There really isn’t anything to do with me anyway, I’m here on vacation, we’ll see how I feel."

"I’d rather not look for a new place to live for the time being," Xu Huo made clear, "Just don’t make it so that I have to move, frequently changing schools isn’t good for a child’s physical and mental health."

"Do the kids you’re raising even have physical and mental health to speak of?" Bai Kou set down her tea cup, tapping her finger on the rim, "Some people enjoy nurturing children, allowing them to grow up in their own way, resulting in kids who are loyal and obedient."

"That doesn’t count as normally growing up," Xu Huo said, "Besides, only those with weak hearts need to seek the loyalty of others."

Bai Kou glanced at him unexpectedly, "I didn’t realize you were a good person."

Xu Huo just smiled, "You’re pretty good too."

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have specifically asked about Xiao Yuan.

Bai Kou rolled her eyes and stood up, "I’m going to catch up on some sleep, don’t forget to have the butler prepare my dress."

Mr. Dong appeared silently behind Xu Huo and said in a hushed voice, "Miss Bai has not prepaid for the dress."

"I’ll pay for it," Xu Huo said, "The garden lost quite a few flowers last night, and the cost of buying new ones should go on my tab as well."

Mr. Dong’s expression did not lighten up but instead, he seriously said, "Miss Kou Kou is quite the spender, are you sure you can afford it?"

Xu Huo chuckled, "It’s just a few dresses."

Bai Kou had been quite helpful to him because of He Pu.

Mr. Dong’s shoulders sank heavily, "Do you know why this castle is so poor?"

He didn’t go into detail, but his expressionless face seemed to be filled with the weight of the world.

Xu Huo patted his shoulder, "Go ahead with your tasks; I know what I’m doing."

It was only after Mr. Dong had left that Xu Huo went to join Yan Jiayu, and together they finished sweeping the garden before sitting down in the tea house to rest.

Yan Jiayu had come along just for fun, not expecting to be swept into cleaning duty the moment she arrived.

"It’s alright; I used to do this all the time in the mountains," Yan Jiayu didn’t mind at all, "Cleaning the room is like cleansing the spirit, I still do household chores whenever I have the time."

The conversation turned back to fun activities, and she searched for nearby travel guides by herself. Base City was bustling, but the other cities nearby were also not bad. There were no random instances in Zone 011, so going out was completely risk-free, therefore she planned to rent a flyer and explore on her own.

Xu Huo, knowing that she would go if she said so, suggested, "Your injury hasn’t fully healed yet, why not stay here for two more days? There’s a nobles’ ball coming up, we can go together and broaden our horizons."

Yan Jiayu’s eyes lit up at the mention, "Sure, there’ll probably be a lot of advanced players there, maybe even super players."

There was a Super Dungeon in Zone 011, but it wasn’t in the same district as Base City.

"A Super Dungeon doesn’t necessarily mean there’ll be Super Players," Xu Huo said; the super players he had seen all operated alone.

Since it was settled to go together, Xu Huo asked Mr. Dong to prepare dresses for Yan Jiayu as well. However, long hair was considered beautiful for ladies in Zone 011, and Yan Jiayu, who had finally grown out her hair, had to shave it off again, so she simply got a wig to wear.

She seemed very unaccustomed to having something on her head, frequently reaching up to adjust it.

"If you’re so uncomfortable, don’t wear it; short hair looks good too," Xu Huo said.

"I’m just wearing it for fun," Yan Jiayu was excited as she looked in the mirror.

"If you like it so much, why don’t you grow your hair out?" The Girl in the painting had chosen a gentle female voice for herself after learning to use the communicator.

"Long hair is a hindrance in a fight," Yan Jiayu explained matter-of-factly.

The Girl in the painting didn’t understand, but she was more interested in the new clothes, so they went off to talk about clothes together.

On the day of the banquet, Bai Kou left early, and in accordance with noble etiquette, Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu arrived at the hotel on time.
